Did Billy prevent Fresley from happening earlier?

I was watching the episode Billy and I feel that this episode may have put off Fresley for a while. I think that because Wesley was under the influence of Billy and tried to kill Fred he did not think that he could pursue the relationship. I think he was embarassed that he was taken over and that he could not do anything to stop it. I also think that Funn became a couple because Gunn was able to catch the change before and he told Fred to knock him out before he could hurt her. So I am always sad when I watch this episode because I am personally a Fresley shipper so I really think that if this didn't happen then they would have gotten together before they did. Anyone agree??
 
I totally agree about Billy having an effect on the timing of Fresley. I love this 'ship too and were my favorite couple in the Angelverse- and I wish they could have been together for longer than one episode!- and it had started to develop around this time because they were doing the smiling and throwing each other secret looks things.
But Wesley, especially considering the way his Father was, was mortified at how he had been to Fred despite being under a spell as I think he worried that the spell just brought out what he was capable of anyway and he never wanted to do that to Fred.
Fred/Gunn was cute though and I understand why they had it, but I totally prefer Fresley. The two were meant for one another! haha
 
I agree that the Billy that had a lot to do with the timing of the Fred and Wes relationship.

That said, I loved Fred and Gunn, so I didn't mind. I would have liked to have seen Fred and Wes get more than one episode, sure. But, ultimately, I wanted her with Gunn.
 
PS I feel really stupid about the title of this thread because I put prevented instead of prevent. Sorry I did this when I was kind of half asleep so yeah sorry for the horrible wording. :lmao:
 
I think he did, and I agree with wiccianslayer. I didn't like Gunn, and when he and Fred hooked up, I was like,
WHAT?!!!
(Imagine that in an outraged shriek.)

Then Wesley had to be dense and put it off even longer, and then Fred DIED. Snarl.
 
hehe blondie bear this may be the start of a beautiful friendship and an even more beautiful "we hate billy club" 🙂
 
It was one of those obvious 'They'll get there in the in end' with Wes and Fred and we know that Joss never could have a romance end happy, so ask yourself this, did you want Fred through all of season 4 and most of 5 or would you have preferred her killed off in season 3 or just 'moved on'?

I liked Wes and Freds relationship, it was great and I don't just mean when they got togther.
I also liked the tension of the three(four) in season 4.
The Gunn/Fred/Wes/Lilah stuff was my favourite story and beat the Angel/Cordy/Connor stuff going on at the same time.

I agree. Definitely better than the Oedipus stuff.
There wasn't much to like about Billy, was there? I think even fans of the Fred/Gunn relationship would want to join the "We Hate Billy" club. I know I do!
