Spuffy wasn't only sex, my dear friend. We see that very clearly in Season 7.

Then how come Spike, like Riley, knew Buffy felt nothing about him?

She told him she loved him and he knew she didn't. She was just being polite. Same thing happened with Riley.

Oh yeah because Season 7 was so ""didactic in it's clarity".

It's lke if Buffy asks Willow what she had for breakfast and Willow says "Cookies" but then Xander says "No wait, you had some oatmeal".

Spike is an expert at love. He knew the truth. She. Didn't. Love. Him.

She's the fricken slayer, her lifespan is severely limited anyway. And then Angel seems surprised that she'll die, well DUH Angel, she's a human being...

Didn't Buffy herself teach you that a slayer was not limited to the regular life span of the chosen?

Plus it seems like this "rising darkness" was going to take one of our heros away anyways.

I don't see why some people don't get that. If Angel had stayed human, he never would have been able to defeat all that evil that he did in L.A. Imagine all those demons, vampires and evil that would be in L.A. if he would have stayed human.

Then Buffy as the only active slayer would have had to eventually face those things. The good fight needed Angel desperately.

All I have to say to that is:

I would love to say "YES!" since I'm a Bangler and all.

But I think she did love him. To a certain extent of course.

Spike seemed to be the wrong guy at the right moment, meaning though he may have not been her ideal match, he was there at the perfect time -- when she needed him.

I think we saw hints of her potentially loving him in Season 5, especially the infamous kiss where she pretended to be the Buffybot and in "The Gift". And Season 6 had the boinking and all. But she ended up just using him and it ended on bad note.

At the end of Season 7 I would probably say that Buffy DID love him. Although honestly, it seems more like a fling to me. And she did get over him pretty quickly.

So Buffy=loves/loved Spike, but on what level? A friendship level or a romantic level.

Then with the addition of Angel into this equation you have the whole thing where you can love more than one person in your life, but there will probably be that one that you love just a little more...

I was just having fun with Comma 😀 It's what Corma does...well that and among other things.

Also, I didn't think she was "IN LOVE" with him, but I know she loved him.

I think the love she had for Spike wasn`t as real as the one she had for Angel, or what you call it. She did love Spike in one way but not as much as Spike loved her.

I think Buffy loved Spike *chokes on words being a bangel fan*

I think at first it was something very dark and Buffy was just using Spike. But I think it developed into more. I'm not saying it was soulmate love. But she did care a great deal about him. She trusted him more in the end than her actual life long friends. That definately shows something close to love.

Honestly, why is this even a question! Of course she loved him. In the middle of season 6, yes, they had such a passion for just being with one another simply based on lust, which is not stable. But this couple had evolved so much throughout the show. They always were there for each other in a way. There love had always been present but they were blind most of the time. Untill the very end. Buffy loved Spike's soul Spike wanted to do the right thing at that point that he chose to be selfless. The love is defintely there and mutual.

I think Buffy did love Spike, not like she loved Angel, but she did love him...
here's my reasons... Watch throughout season &, she does way too many things for Spike... Removes the chip so he doesn't die... Goes after wood when she found out she was being set up so Wood could kill Spike... When Spike was going to leave Buffy told him he couldn't leave because she wasn't ready for him not to be there... When Angel ask Buffy if she loved Spike and she pretty much said she did... Of then there's season 5 of Angel when Spike and Angel both go to Italy and Andrew tells them that Buffy loved them both.... Thats just a few moments that stick out in my mind, that support Buffy did love Spike

Good arguments. I agree.
I voted yes. But... when the word 'love' is used there are so many different meanings... I dont think Buffy loved him in the sense of 'sexual love' I think it was more that he was there for her, and love is too strong of a word to describe how Buffy feels about him (in my opinion).

I agree with *charmed slayer*. I don't think that Buffy loved him in the romantic way like she loved Angel... (which is why Spike said "No, you don't.")... but IMHO, she did love him as a friend, as she did Willow or Xander.

I think Buffy loved him and in this case I can go as far as say she was in love with him, though I'll probably get stoned for it. But that's how I feel, I truly believe she loves him.

OK I'm a strong believer in the Bangel ship! Although I've got to say this. I think Buffy loved Spike but I think she wasn't in love with. There's a difference between the two. And i just don't think Buffy trusted Spike enough to be in love with him.

I feel a rant coming on...

Okay..here I go..yes she did love him..but she was not in love with him..he was there for her..whenever she needed him..whether it was to have sex..talk to..vent out her anger..he was there..and I think when he got his soul she realized for the first time that he had truly cared about her..

Do you think she would have went out her way to help him if she didn't care or love him? Sorry but that is absolute crap.

Woooooooooooo hey people this is a discussion it's not a fight, everyone have an opinion and you don't have to agree with them all and you also don't have to abuse them... And i truly think that i should have a say in this the whole Buffy loving Spike thing
as all of you know I'm a Spuffy shipper but that DOESN'T mean that i don't believe in Bangel they loved each other yes but to me it was a little more than a teenager crush and not quiet real to me and here is where I say, both relationships were beautiful in their
Own time... Angel was able to move on from her and so was she.
and I totally believe than Angel loved Cordy and Cordy without a doubt loved Angel, the same in Spuffy Spike loved Buffy and was loved by her, he touched her heart in ways EVEN Angel was never able to touch it was mature, true and real
I just hope that people should stop making themselves the center of the universe and try to see what other people think before forming an opinion and defend it, without insulting or abusing to others' opinions
And for spike saying that "no you don't" he did that on purpose! He didn't want Buffy to believe that she was in love with him... NOT WHEN HE"S DYING... he didn't want her to think that they could've have something that NOW they can't (in now I mean in CHOSEN)
That's just what I think

Spike and Buffy's relationship was never mature, The basis of the relationship was use, Buffy used Spike. Then after his attemped rape on Buffy, there was no way they could be together again, I mean they got very close to each other but they couldn't give into the relationship because there wasn't love!

And for spike saying that "no you don't" he did that on purpose! He didn't want Buffy to believe that she was in love with him... NOT WHEN HE"S DYING... he didn't want her to think that they could've have something that NOW they can't (in now I mean in CHOSEN)

I don't believe that at all, There is no way in hell if Buffy loved Spike and he said "No you don't" That she would suddenly be like "Oh yeah your right! Ha what was I thinking", Spike saying "No you don't" was showing their utter acceptance that she does not love him, Buffy said it as a form of thank you, But spike was mature enough to accept that is wasn't true.

I thought you were a Spuffy. Sounds agressive in tone but true in nature.
I really am trying to see your point here but all i see is some one who is totally angry... and who is not capable of defending what he/she believes in a good way...

eh...ok, Just like to point out:
Spike and Buffy's relationship was never mature, The basis of the relationship was use, Buffy used Spike. Then after his attemped rape on Buffy, there was no way they could be together again, I mean they got very close to each other but they couldn't give into the relationship because there wasn't love!

I did not say this angrily at all.

Ok the first part of that is a little 'angerish', but the second half is fine! And I did defend myself in a good way, I made a point then backed it up with why I believe that opinion.

And I would have a problem with you using the word anger to describe how I wrote, because I really don't think it was. People opinions are very rarely in the middle, they are usually one or the other, and it's the total belief in their opinions which add 'umph' to what they say, when I see someone who would try to argue back but wouldn't have that kind of passion(That's the word I'd use) I would think that they don't actually believe in what they are saying!

What happened to good TV?
Totally agree again! Didn't find any of it angerish!

Then after his attemped rape on Buffy, there was no way they could be together again, I mean they got very close to each other but they couldn't give into the relationship because there wasn't love!

Even though all the characters point out to Buffy that she is in love with Spike. Eventually even she admits it and still people argue...

That's hilarious. It's odd how ridiculous you see this, but your opinion that she would stand and argue with him, were her love true, is plausible to you?

Even though it's just as silly.

And the little congregation prayed for guidance from above
Lead us not into temptation may his soul find this salvation of Thy great eternal love
