Did Buffy make the right decision in trying to kill Anya?

I thought it was time to ask this about Buffy, in Selfless we know that Anya has been back in the vegence gig for awhile and her wish in this episode killed some frat boys and Buffy decides she has to kill Anya this time. Now do you think Buffy made the right decision in trying to kill Anya?

Willow,Angel,and Spike have killed people and Buffy didnt really try to kill them, even Spike killed like a dozen people in Season7(I know he was under some sorta mind spell) but I dont remembering Buffy stating anything about having to kill him.

So what are your thoughts?
 
I hate to say it, but I said yes. If it came down to saving future peoples lives, I think Buffy made the right choice.

Now I do admit that Buffy did jump the gun on deciding to kill Anya.. it was quick and decided like nothing. That I think she could've talked to everybody about or something. And yes, it sucked that she felt she needed to kill Anya and tell Xander what she was thinking.

But I do think that she made the right decision. Anya killed those frat boys on her own free will... she received a wish, and she made it happen (and anyway, did the girl wish directly to Anya? I dont' remember her saying she did, she just said she screamed it and it happened. So, did Anya take matters into her own hands?)

*Yes, here it comes* Spike did not have free will, he did not know that he was killing those people. And when they did realize it, they tied him up right away to talk about it. (Buffy should have thought about what to do with Anya) And then they found out about the First controlling him and came up with a plan of action.

She was blinded by her affections to Angel and couldn't kill him (except for that one time)

Willow showed remorse right off for her wrongdoings. She was willing to change.

Anya did show remorse, yes. But she did not show it to anybody. She was rude to Willow who came to talk to her and even ruder to Buffy when she came to kill her. Anya was not making good decisions as a vengeance demon the second time around, and she was fixing things to her liking (re: Beneath You) to appease her friends and D'Hoffryn. So, she was becoming dangerous. So, I believe Buffy made the right decision, until Anya admitted that she did feel remorse and wanted to take it back. Then there was not a need to kill her.
 
Ok, I'll answer a question with a question. During the Anya/Buffy throwdown, Buffy runs Anya thru with a sword. Anya then makes a crack about Buffy forgetting that she could only die by beheading. Do you think Buffy would forget something important like that? She had known for a while (since the end of S6) that Anya had reclaimed her vengence. I think Buffy would have quickly reviewed Anya's weaknesses, anticipating a problem in the future...she IS good at that, despite what Giles thought of her early on. She proved again and again she could anticipate (The Gift). I think she did what she did to bring Anya back to humanity...show her what would happen if she didn't...and give her a chance to express her remorse.
 
I said yes! When Angel turned bad then Buffy knew she had to stop him. She was prepared to kill him because she had to think of the future of the people. When Spike had free will or when he didn't have the chip then Buffy was prepared to kill him! The chip stopped him from killing people and recruited him on Buffy's side. Then he got his soul back and the first was controlling him... so it wasn't him that was committing the crimes! While willow was all powerful evil, if Buffy could've killed her, I'm sure she would've cos it's her job! And when Willow came back from being evil she showed remorse and refused to do magicks incase it tipped her over the edge!
 
I decided on yes. I was going to say that the way she handled it was just a demonstration that she didn't feel for Anya what she felt for Angel, Spike and Willow. But then I read killerdwarf's post and sort of changed my mind. If Buffy hadn't have gone to kill Anya, Anya could most probably still be doing the 'vengence thing.' In a way Buffy helped Anya to realise what she had done, Buffy pushed her from feeling the guilt to admitting to it.
 
Yeh I think she did...Anya was going around killing innocent people...she was a demon it was Buffy's job...even though Xander loved her..Buffy still had the right to kill her.
 
I voted yes, but upon thinking it over, I say no. In the end Buffy didn't kill Anya. And as we all saw, Anya turned to the good side, and gave her life in the line of duty. So if Buffy would've killed her without giving her a chance to redeem, that'd've been wrong in my opinion.
 
Hmmm...this is very debateable. I'd say "yes" because Anya, as has been stated before, was doing it of her free will. She knew what she was doing. I suppose Willow did too, but she did what she did because Tara died (that's not an excuse though). She wasn't exactly thinking clearly and she, as said, show remorse immediately afterward. Spike was not doing things in his own will. Anya never showed remorse exept at the end. She did not accept Willow's help which could have been her way out right there.
 
As much as id hate to admit this, i would have to say yes. I mean i love Anya but what she did was out of her own free will(like meslayer said), i am very thankfull that she didnt end up dieing till🙁

Question about Anya before I vote: After becoming a vengeance demon again, did she retain her soul? I would think not, in which case I'd vote yes. But she did seem pretty darn upset afterwards, leading me to think that she could/want to change. I mean, look at Faith. She killed/tortured/hurt lots of innocents, she was very dangerous, but Angel never gave up trying to help her. He would never have killed her. So thinking about Anya in that way, I'd maybe vote no.

ETA: Ideally I'd say that Buffy should have talked to everyone about it, including Anya of course, first. If there was no way Anya was going to stop killing innocent people after that, then I guess Buffy should kill her.
 
i think that buffy made a good executive decision to kill anya for that-buti am glad that didn't end up happening. it is buffy's job to protect the innocent and she knew that anya being a vengence demon would likley kill someone again. now i really wanted to punch xander in this ep, he goes on about how buffy CAN'T kill anya b/c he loves her...but it was ok for him to convince her to kill angel even though she loved him just as much grrr sometimes he makes me so mad!!
 
I really don't know if she made the right decision, I picked yes, b/c I thought that she was right in the begining, but now I am unsure.....*shrugs*
 
Heh, what a coincidence! Thats the episode that was on...7 minutes ago!

Anyway, I think Buffy did make the right choice. She has a job to do, and can't let Anya keep messing up what she fights so hard for. Anya knew it would have to come, she felt it. Also, Buffy didn't just make up the desicion on the spot, she meantions to Xander that the thought has come up before. All in all, if Anya had died, it would have been for the better...but I'm real glad she didn't.
 
At the time, Buffy didnt know how Anya would 'grow' in the upcoming months, and to me, I consider her a hero, saving Andrew's life, and being so brave. But, and I know I might shock people when I say this, but Buffy does what she has to, its her life, and if Anya was killing people, friend or not, Buffy had to kill her, I mean, Im not saying this is what I wanted, NO WAY, but I understood Buffy's motives...

Yes, Buffy made the correct decision and I believe that "future lives" is exactly what helped her make the decision.
