Did Buffy Really Love Angel?

No, no, no... because Kean said that "I'm just not seeing Buffy's hand on fire" and you disagreed. But then you agree with me that her hand was not on fire. So now I am really confused. Did it or didn't it?

I agreed with you that she didn't feel like her hand was on fire, like "Ouch, that hurts!" But we saw (at least I did) that her hand was on fire, but she felt something more powerful, which IMO was love. 🙂 I think we were disagreeing to where the first started, correct me if I'm wrong? Kean thought the fire just erupted on Spike's hand, but I disagreed and believe the fire erupted between both Spike and Buffy's hands.

But I said she felt that because it was not on fire. Her hand was never on fire, if it was never on fire it could never feel it. She felt something, but not fire as it never was on fire.
Furthermore, doesn't Spike have enough threads? What does he have to do with Buffy's love for and of Angel?

But the fire is there because he is one fire. Not for any other reason.

Yeah, and I completely disagree with that as I mentioned earlier because I don't see it as that simple. 🙂

But, Scobro's right. I think we're getting off-topic with the thread, as much as I could go all day discussing my thoughts on this scene 🙂

Scobro agrees: But I said she felt that because it was not on fire. Her hand was never on fire, if it was never on fire it could never feel it. She felt something, but not fire as it never was on fire.

I think we're getting into real logistics here. It's the Buffyverse, lol! Like I said, her hand was on fire, but she felt something different than the basic "Oh, my hand is on fire. Crap, I'm going to get 3rd degree burns." 😉 Yet, for the sake of argument, even if the fire started with Spike and transferred to Buffy's hand, she still would have felt something rather than the basic feeling of her hand being on fire because Spike's hand was on fire and touching hers.

They are not exclusive.. and I think many people see them as such. This event means that event has no significance, etc. Life isnt like that though.

Kean agrees: I literally have no idea what you are talking about.
The fact that the Spuffy fiery hand scene being mentioned in "Did Buffy really love Angel?" thread seems to imply that because of that connection then Buffy could not have loved Angel. Ergo, my statement.

mayfever agrees: didn't she describe the meeting as "intense"?

Yes, Buffy did say that, but she didn't go into any detail whatsoever as to exactly what about the meeting was intense. Maybe they fell into each others' arms, weeping and renewing their vows of eternal, total love for each other. Maybe Angel made Buffy swear that she would never throw her life away again to save a silly irritating little twit like Dawn.

Or maybe Buffy asked him what he had done while she was gone.

Angel: I just couldn't face the world without you in it. I hid myself away in a Tibetan monastery until I could...

Buffy: You...Hold it, now, let me get this straight. My sister was left all alone, virtually an orphan, and my friends were left patrolling the hellmouth with a plastic and tin animated Buffy Sex Doll for back up, and YOU went to a f***ing MONASTERY? Big, bad, champion Angel can leave off "helping the helpless" foe a whole summer, and he can't even drop by to see if he could be of any help around here? Mr Holier-Than-The-Average-Vampire-Because-I've;Got-A-F***ING-SOUL Angel toddles off to the high mountains to meditate on his belly button and drink yak blood and leaves my little sister, who means so much to me that I was willing to die for her, in the care of a soulless vampire who you've always said had no honor and couldn't be trusted under ANY circumstances? THAT'S how you mourn me and honor my memory?

Angel:Uh...well...I guess it sounds pretty bad if you put it that way. But, see, there was this super powerful demon who told me that if I didn't do that, as bad as things were, they were going to be even worse. In fact, I was in Tibet raising an army of Shaolin monks to attack Sunnydale and kill everyone there, because if I didn't do that, everybody in the world was gonna die. So I just figured, you know, kill a few hundred people in order to save the world...So, see, it really wasn't me who didn't go to Sunnydale and help out, it was that demon, who was in control of my body...

Buffy: That is so f***ing lame it defies description. Willow's f***ing cat could have come up with...AW...what the hell. Kiss me, you fool, and then I've got to get back to the hellmouth. And I've got an uncontrollable desire for...

Angel: But my curse...

Buffy: Oh, get over your f***ing self. I want some fried chicken, and there's a Kentucky Fried right on the way back home. Now, kiss me quick, cause that extra crispy is calling...

Maybe Buffy was just intensely hungry for some fried chicken.
