I originally got into Buffy with my ex husband. I bought us all seasons on DVD. When we separated I took S5 with me because I was doing a watch through.

Then we divorced, he ended up with all seasons but 5 and he got the soundtrack to OMWF.

Fast forward a few years...I introduce boyfriend to Buffy. He buys me all seasons but 5. We broke up a few weeks ago. I got all the Buffy this time.

Next boyfriend (yeah, like I'm going THERE again) owes me the soundtrack to OMWF

Who got Buffy in your breakup?

I wish people would buy me Buffy!
I have copies of all the episodes and I have been married for 40 years - and if we split I would get all the Buffy. The advantage of marrying a non-fan.

were I ever to "go there" again, there would be a contract/pre nup that detailed who the cds and dvds belonged too. Trying to replace my music and video library has been expensive and tragic. Lost ALL MY VINYL
My ex hated Buffy. She thought it was so cheesy and really didn't even like me watching it. I watch it a lot more now she's gone.

She did take a couple of my old Buffy graphic novels though. Either out of spite or because she forgot she had them.

This is always an interesting one. As much as I love Buffy I'm not sure I would recommend people let their love for the show getting in the way of being happy😉 But then I do think it helps if you share that in common🙂

Oh I'm sure she just forgot, it wasn't out of spite?😱

Nah, she wasn't spiteful. Self-centred/ self-absorbed? Sure, but that's hardly rare and there are worse things. :)
My ex hated Buffy.

Same. My DVDs were considered safe from day one. In the break-up I did lose some other DVDs and blu-rays though - Buffalo '66, Moon, The Thing, and even some old Blondie and The Clash vinyl. Devastating.

The Thing! My ex stole my copy of that as well. That bites.

Yeah that does suck! Sorry to hear.
lol well when my dad divorced my mom, I got his AtS DVDs. So next think you'll have to watch for is the kids 😛

Well, I have a story there as well...When me and ex were watching Buffy the first time, my son and his then wife were watching with us. Buffy really brought the family together. The first sign of trouble was when daughter in law was caught binge watching Angel while the rest of us weren't around...That marriage only lasted two years. She took the Angel dvds with her.

Looool!
My husband doesn't like Buffy much. He's watched OMWF with me twice on my insistence, and Hush once (again, because I told him he had to because it was amazing). He enjoyed Hush more than OMWF and appreciated the episode for the scares and humour, but he still said he wasn't that fussed on watching any more Buffy.

So all my Buffy & Angel DVDs belong to me and me alone! 😀

One of my exes 'borrowed' my Backstreet Boys CD in 1999 and I never got it back after we broke up. He claimed it was his and he bought it. So completely untrue! That still stings. 🙁

My childhood friend borrowed my game of Yoshi Story for the N64 and then she sold it. I never got over it. 🙁

Well, this is a problem I do not have. Once, a long time ago, a boyfriend looked at me after I said that I liked Buffy, and completed the sentence with disbelief: "...the Vampire Slayer?". Others had the same opinion, even if they didn't say it to my face.

my buffy addiction is a recent thing, but at the time of our breakup i got most of the books and DVD's and he got the coffee machine and other boring stuff.

Sadly there are a lot of narrow minded people out there, who just dismiss it as just another teen show, or just can't believe that it can have as much depth or be as well made as we fans know it is🙂 It really bugs me, not least because its like they are talking down to me when they haven't even taken the time to watch the show😱

I feel like this is another reason I'm still single. I don't like sharing. So if I had Buffy anything, it would be staying with me! And I couldn't be with someone who had a problem with me watching Buffy. They don't have to like it, but they do need to respect how I feel about it.

I'm not the sharing type, too, since I'm an only child...

The thing with Buffy is more a cultural issue, I think. Hanging out on Face or boards to discuss the show is something more appropriate for young people, not a woman of my age... if I wanted a boyfriend who liked Buffy, I would have to rob the cradle...

My first girlfriend was the one who got me into Buffy in the first place. Soon after we first met we spent many nights (as friends at that point in time) watching Buffy together. She was quite an obsessed fangirl at one point.
She had all the videos (omg, videos, how old school!) and DVDs apart from Angel season 4 for some odd reason. She had a massive collection of Buffy magazines with cool interviews and stuff. I used to read them often.

We bought a few comics and had James Marsters and Mercedes McNabb autographed photos addressed to us both. I kept the photos (as I paid for them) and we split the comics. I've often thought about crossing out her name on the photos though...

My last girlfriend hated Buffy, and my current girlfriend likes Buffy okayish but doesn't get my obsession.

Now I own all the DVDs and have a few books and comics in my collection.

This is beautiful and sums up how powerful sharing something special with a person can be. No don't cross out her name, she was a big part of your life and it sounds like you guys had a wonderful🙂

She was my best friend for a year before we dated for 2 and half years. Honestly, it was like a real life Willow and Tara. (Another Buffy friend of mine commented once she was very alike to Willow. I have a stutter and had little confidence when I met her) Not only did we share the Buffy thing but we were gym buddies, had the exact same taste in music and all round best friends.
Her parents flipped when they found out she was gay ('Flipped' is an understatement... She had a VRO against her own father for a while) They sent me a voodoo doll and bunch of other witchcraft stuff (which after that I didn't watch Buffy for a while) She didn't cope and ended up with the wrong crowd. We broke up and I believe she's dating a meth addict now. I often wonder how she's doing, and don't get me wrong- I love my current girlfriend to bits, but often wonder how things would go if her parents hadn't reacted the way they did.

Anyways, maybe that's why I love Willow and Tara so much. I relate to them. A lot.
