Did Charisma want to leave?

Did Charisma want to leave or was this Joss just being Joss and killing someone off? I know she had been in a coma, but why kill her? Why am I asking this question? This is a Joss Whedon show afterall. But just to clear it up.
 
Charisma had said the only way she would come back is if he let her live, but then she read the script and really liked how they ended Cordy's journey.

She didn't wanna leave...she wanted to stay. Lol.
 
the rumor going around is that Joss decided to kill Cordelia off because Charisma left it so late to tell them about her real life pregnancy. storylines had to be hastily rewitten. i think, in the beginning, there was never supposed to be a Jasmine in S4, Cordy was supposed to be the major big bad. but, with Charisma being pregnant, she couldn't do any of the fight scenes the character needed to do. Joss got a little peeved at that, i think. abd anyway, after everything that happened to Cordy in S4, i don't think they had much left to do with her.
like TC said, Charisma said she would only return to the show if Joss didn't kill her off, but when she read the script and realized what a perfect ending for Cordy Joss had written, she changed her mind and did it.
 
ok wait, i thought that jasmine was the original big bad, but it had to be re-written that way for cordy to give birth to her or something because of the pregnancy, not that there was never a jasmine. ...hold on...maybe that wasnt it either...but either way i thought joss had jasmine in mind from the beginning. anyone have any sources, because im just confused? :silly:
 
the way i remember it, is that the ex-PTB takes over Cordy's body and uses her, turns her evil. but the whole giving birth to Jasmine thing was written in to tie-in Charisma's RL pregnancy. maybe we're just all confused? it was, like, nearly three years ago, right? more?
 
I seem to remember that there was indeed a rewrite of the end of season four caused by Charisma's pregnancy. As said above, the original idea was simply that Cordelia would be possessed by the PtB we eventually knew as Jasmine and she would carry out all the things that happened herself, rather than just give birth to Jasmine.

As for whether Charisma chose to leave or not, there are far too many different stories flying around about this topic to make me think we will ever know the full facts. I'm certain the rewrite caused a lot of hassle for the writers and maybe even pissed Joss off a little (it would have done me if I had to rethink an entire season plot) but even so I doubt that Joss would have fired Charisma, a very popular actress playing an even more popular character, just for that one thing.

Only Joss and Charisma really know what happened and so, as in all rumours and half-truth stories, I suggest that you just give both sides the benefit of the doubt and assume that what happened was done with the best interests of all parties in mind. At least until Joss or Charisma give some straight facts at least. 😉

I agree. I don't think it's a situation where one side is right and one is wrong. I think both sides had their own interests and they didn't align at that time.
Yep I am sure she would be eager to spill the dirt. You never wanna talk trash, about a director or writer who may cast you in a future role. 🙂
 
Thanks for clearing that up guys and thank you up there for asking the question. I had no idea that Charisma wanted to stay.
