I was just trying to consider whether or not Cordy died naturally because if there was ever a possibility of an Angel/Buffy movie, maybe they could bring her back like they did Buffy.

Well, sorry but I really doubt there's going to be a movie...anyway,Willow brought Buffy back and she did it with the Orb of Osirus. The Orb is broken and that was the only spell that was going to work (remember when Will thought the spell didn't work and Xander said they were going to try again?.Will said that was the only chance they had). There's no way to bring back Cordelia IMO

As natural as death induced by giving birth to an apocalypse-bearing Power That Was is. But yeah, I don't think Cordy will come back, hopefully shes sorting out those crappy Powers That Be.

I agree with your points in a way, but how did Willow intend on bringing back Tara?? I think by the end of S6, Willow got so powerful she didn't nead the Orb anymore. The only reason she couldn't bring Tara back was that she died a natural death.

I know there probably won't be a movie, but you can't give up all hope 🙂

Willow, if you didn't notice, was all high on emotions and anger so she didn't really take time to rationally think things through when it came to trying to bring Tara back.

She did try to bring her back, but nothing makes us sure that the spell would have worked. Natural or unnatural death, spells aren't very effective, people come back wrong. Buffy was brought back with the best of all the spells, which can't be done again. If Willow tried bringing back Cordy (I think she wouldn't try because she knows the rules),Cordy wouldn't be real normal Cordy, and the spell would have repercutations. Everything has conswequences.

The whole "natural death" thing seems to be a little involved anyway. Even though Buffy jumped into a portal, it was the fall that killed her in the final analysis, ie natural. I think that while what induced the coma was supernatural, the organ failure or whatever that caused the actual death would have been natural.

Then again, in "Home", Lilah said Cordy would "receive the finest care, medical and metaphysical", so who knows what happened to her in the next several months. I guess anything's possible, right?

Actually the energy of the portal probably would have killed her. She was most likely dead before she ever hit the ground.

But even though the events that led to Cordy's coma were supernatural...I think her actual death would be considered natural.

since the episode where Angel and Illariya were hopping around the timestream, I've had a thought. If she desired, and if she had her full power back, Illariya could effectively ressurect any number of characters. Wesley's death could be reversed. Cordelia probably not so much, because it was that final vision that killed her, and I don't see how Illariya could prevent that. But people who died a physical death could be saved. Just some food for thought.

She may get her full powers back in one of the movies, but heres another thought--what if her ability to feel grief, etc. was a direct result of having her power drained? After all, she didn't seem to have any feelings beforehand...

I just think she suppressed any feeling before her power was drained...I think after the fact...she really was forced to act more human...and therefore she began to let her emotions come through like a human would...but maybe you're right eset...but anyway...this is getting pretty off topic....

But didn't they state that Buffy was able to be brought back, unlike Joyce, normally because she "didn't die a natural death" because she was killed by mystical energy.

I still agree with you though...Her body should have been pretty mangled from that fall.

I don't think Cordy died a natural death because the last vision killed her and having your scull blown open by a vision is not natural. In my opinion Lilah didn't die a natural death either. She was stabbed, but by a creature that wasn't part of this world (Jasmine in Cordy's body). Just my thoughts.
Oh, WatcherWes, I think you are right about the Illyria thing. Techically Illyria might even be able to bring back Fred if she encountered her earlier in the timestream and traveled with her. I don't know how that would work probably badly since multiple coppies of one soul might be too weird for the Whedonverse (assuming that Illyria has Fred's soul).

I don't think Cordy died a natural death because it was that last vision that killled her. But I also dodn't think she will be back as much as I'd loved for her to come back in some way. Maybe they can do some kind of flashback to like Angel season 1 or something. Cordy now looks a lot like she used to look back then. But we have to remember that Cordy told Angel in You're Welcome that she'll be seeing him so we never know.

Whoa, where did you get the impression that it was the vision that killed her? Not the case at all! Her body was devastated from the after effects of having Jasmine "born" out of her, as was actually stated on the show. Since then she had been in a vegetative state with her soul still clinging on in her body.

The PtB offered her one last chance to help Angel by sending her the information she needed in the vision and allowing her to take on a manifest spirit (a type of solid astral form, as seen in the Buffy episode Lessons) so that she could interact with the gang. The state of her true body, left behind in the hospital ward, never changed. After the job was done, Cordy simply chose to move on to the afterlife and allow her body to die.

As such, the final "death" was what you could call natural but what brought it about was mystical, technically the same circumstances as Buffy's death, so the chance of a resurrection is there, even if it's a slim one.

Well cordelias death wasn't really natural, she had her lifes energy drained away and put into jasmine, so she had no lifes energy left, then she was in the coma then it was really the PTB that bumped her of in the end, probably by removing her mind or soul so it could take the form of cordy while she was in a coma and since they are pretty supernatural then i guess it would be fair to say she died an unnatural death.

I think willow could have possibley brought her back without the orb considering that death person, o sirus or whatever only gave the reason that tara could't come back because she died naturally not because willow hadn't done the correct ritual or anything, but that i suppose is pure speculation.

Though it would also be fair to assume tht if anya can get her hands on the orb then surely wolfram and hart could have aswell.

Also would the consequences be as great for cordy as they were for buffy afterall cordy has descended from paradise once before and she didn't have a death wish which comes part and parcel with being a slayer

wow there are some really good posts in this thread. I'm a little confused now though, how did Cordy die, someone said before that a vision blew a hole in the back of her head, that didn't happen did it, she made sure of that when she became part demon, it would have been good if Willow could've gotten to Cordy while she was just into the coma and transfer energy or something.

If you think about it, I said yes and no. Yes, on dying in a coma because I think the visions she had were just too much for her, and she lost her strength, the visions were just too much for her and her brain. She basically just shut down because she was worn out and tired. Plus, I think the Powers That Be needed her or chose her to be apart of them. I think it was her destiny to die in a way.
