Did/do you like/d high school?

I hated high school.... seriously It was aweful. I was in honnors everything and the bad part about that was my math sucked. They couldn't just put me in a regular math class and keep me in honors everything so it was either... I excelled at everything but failed math which would hold me back... or I got so bored with the regular classes cause I knew everything that I failed those but excelled in math which again would hold me back. Eventually I just quit and then just got my GED which was just so much easier because it allowed me to work at my own pace. Plus the only thing i had to actually study was Math. However I will say doing it that way makes you miss out on so much and you sorta regret it later. I would have loved to go to prom and have those other good experiences like graduation with all your friends. Sure I walked across a stage in a cap and gown and got a diploma but there was no good friends to celebrate with and take pictures with and remember good times with afterwards.

I really relate to that. In 9th grade I was in hell when I was in math class. Because someone forgot to tell me that I have math learning disability after I did some tests. And they put me in the regular math class, and I couldn't understand one thing the teaches taught. I had 2 private teaches to help me with the math, but still failed big time. I suffered for an entire year, just because they forgot to tell me that I cannot understand or get math and never will.

But in ealier years, I was in the "bad at math" little class, then I did pretty good, so they moved me to the regular class. In the first test we had, I got 2 point out of 100. And those 2 points were only for answering correctly about the bonus question: 4X4=? or something like that. Well, at least I knew that!

Yeah I think I have like a 8th grade math level... I barely passed my GED test just because of the math crap.. Everything else College Level but Math just stumps me... I'm good with your basic stuff, but then you get to algebra, trig, geometry and then you loose me...

Really whos gonna use...

B+4C=23A or whatever they come up with lol

I'm in high school, and I really like it. Elementary school was good up until fifth grade when I just wanted to get out it lol, I hated middle school because the teachers were mean and there was alot of drama and I'm so glad that I'm out! And I can't wait for college in a few years!

Glad you're having a great time! You'll love college I'm sure! ;)
So here's high school for me. My grades were awful. Just terrible. I was really depressed for most of it. I had awful experiences with people and teachers and I wouldn't go back for anything. However, I was famous at my school. Not popular, famous. People stalked my facebook... people I didn't know. One time I was at the school play and this woman came up to me and asked if I was Zoà« and I said yes and she said "my son is ALWAYS on your facebook! You're so interesting!" I asked her who her son was and she told me his name and I had never heard it and don't even remember it. Everyone said hey to me in the halls and the teachers all knew my name. I was almost voted student body president but had to drop out because of my grades. I wasn't one of the popular preppy kids, but I was well known. I miss that. I miss people knowing my name. I miss knowing that when I left, the place would be different. Since I left high school, my youngest sister has been there. She said everyone still talks about her and the teachers still stalk my facebook. Everyone wants to know how I'm doing all the time and they miss me. A friend of mine still in high school said the school changed without me there. So while high school was an awful depressing time, I am glad I had the high school experience I did. Without my poor grades, low self esteem, and crappy relationships with the people around me, there would have been no good drama for everyone to pay attention to. I am an attention whore and a drama queen. To have the spotlight like that was AWESOME and I want it back.

I could write an essay style rant on why I don't like school... or rather why I don't like the people there... *sigh*

Apparently it's a rite of passage. It happens to the best of us and so many people tearing down my confidence every day will become useful in later life and one day I will be better for all of this, so I try and focus on that.

Doesn't mean I have to like it though...

Right of passage. Good way to phrase it! Love your banner btw! :D
I hated high school. I skipped at least 25 days per semester and slept most of the time I was actally there. Still somehow managed to get some of the highest grades in my classes though. I quit after 10th grade and went to get my GED, which took a grand total of 3 weeks. (had to wait til their next testing time) I'm severly impatient so this was much better for me. 🙂

I like high school. Sure, I'm in my final year now and have to get serious about studying and whatnot, but I really like my school and can't say I've had any bad experiences there. Except when I had a seizure half way through English a few months ago and traumatised my classmates. lol. 😀

I was an inbetweener, ooh I like that show. I wasn't an outcast but I wasn't a popular kid either. I went to an all boys school simply because the mixed one didn't have an art course and that was the only thing I liked. The first year sucked because I was and still am pretty introverted so I guess I was an easy target for bullies. The bullying didn't really last though and I eventually could mix with the different groups. At 13-16 I had a weekend job so I was also one of the few students who had a disposable income, funny how popular kids want to talk to you when they know you can afford stuff - I never bought them anything, I knew a user when I seen them. 😀 Our school was pretty much a clone factory, so I tended to make friends with those who would have been considered the oddballs. Like me 😀. Also it was very much sports orientated and those sporty people would pass exams without even sitting them, which was horse-shit. Academically I was average, simply because I was bored. I liked English, best thing I got from school was reading " To Kill A Mockingbird" - my fave book. I won the art awards every year too, which was sweet, actually the art course kept me sane because I pretty much got lost in my own arty world and shut out the monotony. Would I do it all again? - hell no! Were there good times? - yup, a few.

In highschool I liked it a lot and I had a great group of friends and even though it was dramatic as hell I loved it. I got really good grades my friends and I were really competitive, if I got a better grade then one of them she would hit me. I never really had any problems outside the drama of my own circle of friends. I was very quiet and went unnoticed by mostly everyone except my friends. But I enjoyed highschool. Unfortunately, looking back now the memories got soured by some pretty bad events in the final year that really hurt me and make it hard to look back fondly on them.

Also my school was messed up. The teachers were mostly terrible they barely taught, one turned out to be a pedophile and we got at least six fired.

zobothehobo agrees: One of my teacher in middle school was a pedofile.

Damn see they need to do better background checks. It was creepy cause in 9th grade he used to take lots of pics of us and it was always of our chests. I was really naive though and kept insisting to my friend he was just a bad photographer.

I don't understand when people say high school, or even college, was the best time of their lives. Not attacking here, I just really don't get it. I mean, I'd say that I had the typical high school experience. I wasn't bullied or insecure or anything like that. But high school sucked. My peers sucked, the teachers (most of them) sucked, the regulations and rules and the fact that my school was under construction for the four years I was there...yeah. Just sucked.

I didn't like it. I mean, I guess you could say I had a love/hate relationship with high school, but it was mostly hate-y. Anywhoozle, the only things I really enjoyed about HS were my friends, and a few of my classes like Health Care, theater, and senior English (easiest class of all time).

I'm currently in high school and I like it. I'm not in love with it and I do not detest it, but it's definitely my best schooling experience so far. I love all my friends and everyone seems to know me and like me, so I'm not upset about anything at all, socially.

Highschool was fun enough. Kinda breezy I guess. Very balanced.
I had good grades, I had bad ones. I wasn't extremely popular, but all of the people I went to school with liked me well enough. I met some of my best friends there and had great experiences all over.

But what I really loved was the uni life.
I really learned a lot, had highest highs, deepest of lows and overall I feel uni has largely shaped me to be the person I am today.
I learned to deal with stress, really learned to study (highschool was pretty breezy on that account. I managed to do quite well without spending too much effort as long as I payed attention in class and studied a little I did ok.. not great but well enough)
I took a real interest in the subject matter and classes. Well most of them anyway.. I could've done without Classical Chinese (it's like Latin... but in Chinese) and Korean Phonology =3, but you know the subject matter was closer to my field of interest at the time.
I got to study in Osaka (which turned out different then I'd hoped, but still a valuable experience).
I met some more of my best friends and my first true love.
Socally things weren't as balanced. My class was built up out of people who genuinely liked me a lot and people who couldn't care less if I existed or not. I definetly have a more select group of people I keep in touch with from uni as opposed to high school, but I kind of like it that way.
the whole experience was just more colorful.. If you know what I mean?

During uni I also got really involved with an online community, a board, not unlike this one, but on a much smaller scale and less international. I really miss being part of an online group like that!

Anyway...now I'm working and I can genuinely say I miss being a student. I miss the freedom of it and the perks student get in our society (cheap tickets for the movies/theatre/musea :3) . Now everything is done with regularity and I kind of feel days weaks and years are passing even more quickly ^.^'

My friend says its a paradox: when you're a student, you have allt he time in the world, but no money to actually do the things you would like to do. And when you're working, you have the money, but no time!
I'd like to save up and take a couple of months or even a year off to travel... but I'm not sure of the how and when and what the consequences will be... hmmmm I smell a project!

Even though I wasn't considered popular by a long shot, I enjoyed my high school years for the most part. I had a good group of friends that made living fun, so I didn't hate it like some people say they did. Would I go back? Sure!

Depends on which high school you mean. I went to two. My main high school I hated. There were rumors everywhere about me. None that were remotely true. Everyone at that school was exactly the same. Stupid school churning out perfect clones. It was so annoying. I hated it, and actually threatened to bomb it once... I was actually serious...

The other school was amazing. I got to make my schedule, take classes like Bartleby and Friends ( a class on short stories), Called my teachers by their first names. It was fantastic. It was so much like college is. I absolutely adored it. I even painted a mural on the ceiling. There was true student government. We voted on everything as a school. It was amazing. They were talking about closing the school once. But donations from alumni pretty much keep it open. I still love that school. I have a cat named after my history teacher. I got my diploma from my english teacher.

That school is probably the reason I am who I am today. Scratch that, it is how I am who I am. That school changed me. It helped me so much. I am so grateful I got to go there. My main school felt suffocating. This school felt exhilerating. It was amazing, and I was actually sad to leave. I still miss that place.

It was really small. 10 teachers, 8 classrooms, 150 students at max. There were 27 in my graduating class. There were 200+ at my main school. Just in my class. I had to apply to get into the second one. I was so happy when I got in! They really encouraged you there. They supported your talents and helped with your weaknesses. If all schools were like that, no one would drop out, I swear.

High school was so long ago....graduated in 1995 but I thought it was meh. I had my friends from primary school up until high school so I did ok socially and academically although I hated math.

High School was a mixed bag for me. I was always picked on for doing nerdy things and for my atheism by those who found out about it... But I also did fun things like academic team and chess club. I was never one with close friends so I always kept to myself but that ended up biting me in the ass when my parents divorced and I had no one to talk with about it. Ahhh memories!

Still working on those social skills at 24 ;D. Haha

For us Brits we'd call it secondary school. My personal experience is that it wasn't as good as primary school. When you're really young (6-11) you want to learn new things, when you're a teenager, it's all about being cool, and about social status. For me, school was either about learning or it was about nothing, and at secondary school, since it wasn't about learning it was about nothing, so I was a bit of a rebel at secondary school. I Didn't hang with the cool kids, but neither did I do what the teachers told me, namely, to do my work and learn, I just did enough to get by, so I could go on to A levels and university and focus on learning subjects I wanted to learn, rather than subjects I was told to learn. 🙂

I was never a massive fan of secondary school. I was always top of the class but it wasn't difficult in a school like mine where there were fights every other day. By the end of it though I really enjoyed it as I had made friends with about 30 other misfits and we all banded together. Surprisingly, I actually miss the place now I'm at uni, never would have thought that would happen!
