Did Fred actually love Wesley

I have to say that I think Fred was beginning to fall in love with Wesley but wasn't completely in love by the time she died, but I always rooted for them from the start. I hated Gunn/Fred, even though they occasionally worked for me. And then I think Illyria fell in love with Wesley, perhaps because she was feeling whatever Fred had felt...

Let me insert here that I still think it was complete idiocy for them to say Fred's soul was dead. Unless they mean soul and "spirit" as two different things, which would mean that Fred herself was actually alive in spirit form somewhere.
 
Loving and being In Love are two different states of feeling. I think Fred loved and was attracted to Wes, and felt herself falling in love with him at the time Illyria infected her. To me, that was the heartbreak of Fred in the end. Both that she was losing her life, and leaving a love story unrealized.

I was rather relieved by her death. Dealing with that infantile romance she had with Wesley had really nauseated me. Was Fred falling in love with Wes? I don't know. But judging by a comment she had made, I think his idealized view of her was frustrating her.
 
Yes I think she loved him. I just think it took her a long time to do what she needed to to be with him.
 
Fred was just using Wesley, a devious very sub-plot.
As Alexis is with Alysson, Amy just wanted to get close to Alysson.

Or when Willow said I'm with some-one she didn't mean Wesley?

You mean, Schizo!Buffy is losing it so much now that she can't even get the levels of her delusions right anymore?

I'm not sure she loved him. Like LadyLavinia said, she was turned into someone who feared being alone. Maybe Wesley was just filling the hole that Gunn left...

But I do think she had a potential to love him... maybe later on if her character had progressed... but no, at the end, I don't think she loved him.
