Did it have to end like that?

I mean really?!? Couldn't Joss take a day off a depressing nonsense, and give us a happy ending for once! Sure, it was an amazing cliffhanger, but still... Why couldn't Connor just go back to Angel..?

So what are your opinions? Would you have rather the conclusion be sad or happy?

Connor couldn't go back to Angel because his logic doesn't resemble our Earth logic. 🙁 Cordelia seemed to make her decision really quickly. I thought that was weird. I hated that it was a cliffhanger even though I had the season 4 box set already. lol

As for whether or not I would have preferred a sad or happy ending...well, there'd be less conflict with the happy. But considering what happened when Cordy returned I would have preferred an ending where she didn't leave.

Tomorrow was one of the best season finale in Buffyverse. But I agree, couldn't Cangel end up together at least? I don't care if Connor would go crazy like that. And yeah, I agree with ToShanshuInLA, Cordy made the decision so fast. She had an appointment with Angel and she chose to pass it. Missing an appointment is rude. ^_^

I understood why Connor did what he did. I don't know how I would react if I was raised in one of the worse demon dimensions in the cosmos and my only companion was a man whose wife was raped and murdered and daughter turned into a soulless demon by Angel(us).

I hated the episode Tomorrow. The entire Cordelia storyline was stupid. She never should have been given the visions by Doyle since it was destroying her brain rather quickly and she would have been dead after only two years of beeing Vision Girl (and not once did she try to find a way to keep the visions and not have it kill her). She got tricked into becoming part demon. She got tricked into thinking she was a Higher Being. She got tricked into leaving Earth. It all just lead to her being possessed for months (in which her body was quasi-raped and forced to murder), giving birth to the thing that was possessing her, in a coma for many months, and then dying at 22 or 23 without really ever waking up. She didn't "ascend" in Tomorrow. It was the death blow to her character.

I loved that cliffhanger. I didn't watch it when the series was running on tv, so I could have kept watching... But I actually took a break of like a month or so.

Was a wonderful opening scene in s4 too.

I really loved the end of seaons 3 (exception Cordy arc but at least it meant we didn't have to see as much of her horrid blonde hair at the start of s4)
But I love Connor shoving Angel into a box and tossing him into the ocean - I mean okay the boy has issues - but that's en epic punishment.
Like something out of a mythology book - living forever at the bottom of the ocean, going insane, kudos to Joss for that one!

I really loved Connor's idea for revenge. It was so calculated. I mean, he actually put him in a box, nailed it shut, and dropped it into the ocean. And he got away with it for months while living in Angel's hotel and being looked after by Gunn and Fred.

Can you imagine if the only things you knew about your biological father were the horrible acts of cruelty and violence he enacted? To grow up hating demons but know that you are the product of two demons?

I think people are too hard on Connor. He had it a lot worse and yet did much less bad than Willow and Faith and yet they are both fan favorites.

This is true. However, I don't think people necessarily dislike Connor because he does bad things (as well as the two characters you mention, Spike, Lilah, Anya and others have also done worse things and have more fans), but because they find his personality obnoxious (personally I quite like him, but it's the common view), which makes them more likely to condemn him when he screws up because they don't like him in the first place.

Can you cram complex issue into a nut shell or what? 😛 But yeah I think you're absolutely right, that pretty much sums it all up. 🙂 Although I disagree about the vision thing. Yeah they ended up being detrimental to her health, but I also think they were very instrumental in her drastic character development. I just wish there would have been a way for her to have the visions without getting hurt by them and without needing to be part demon. I guess you can't have it all. 😉

I really, really didn't like this finale even if I liked season 3. First of all, the Cangel situation. What's up with all that? Cordelia realizing all fo a sudden she's in love with Angel??? With a mystical her revealing this? This ship is so forced, I can totally see they threw it out there without emotions, without development. For me, a jealous Angel or a I-don't-care-about-Groo Cordelia can't make a ship. Ok,Cangel rant over. The Connor/Angel stuff was so predictable I was hoping they'd give us a twist but nothing. Wesley, Lilah...the only interesting thing in the finale.

I can't agree about that. Those feelings Angel realized felt pretty forced to me (guess the network got what they wanted then)..like boom! he was in love with Cordelia and those feelings were there but never discovered..it sounds like crap to me. Always did. Their interactions with Angel struggling to let Cordelia know he loved her, they sounded fake, it really showed acting. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I respect all the Cangel shippers out there, no harm intended, but I just don't get this ship. They were so better off as friends, it was quite a peculiar and beautiful friendship...but love, I see no chemistry at all.

I am not a fan of Cangel. I think it's gross... however, I was REALLY mad when I watched this and they didn't end up together. I get the Connor thing but I CRIED so hard! This is probably my favorite finale in Angel.

I thought the whole Cangel thing was incomplete.

Connor surprised me too, but in a good way. I didn't think he would take such drastic measures to continue Holtz's revenge plan but he did. Gotta admit, locking him in the box and pushing it into the ocean is pretty cruel. (Angelus would have been proud!)

They were doing an excellent job in transforming Angel and Cordy's relationship from friendship to love by late S2/early S3; until Jossverse decided to shove it down our throats during the rest of S3 with that destined love crap.

I didn't mind the depressing cliffhanger ending, I thought that was pretty cool. (Also cos the channel I watched it on at the time it aired on tramp's tv, channel 5 I think, aired season 4 immediately afterwards.)

What I didn't like though, was the daft Cordelia stuff. Her talking to the vision of herself crap, and the floating up to space nonsense. Give me a break.
