We all know the joke Buff made on the death of Cordy, and I personally thought it inappropriate! but I was watching S03E01 of Angel, after Buffy died and Cordy and the AI gang had to hear about Buffy's death, the only thing to go on is that cordy wouldn't let B's name be mentioned.

Do you think this was because she was upset or because she didn't want that word around when angel was back?

How do you think Cordy took B's death?

WHAT?! What joke?! I'm not too caught up in the comics, can someone PLEASE tell me what was said?

And I don't think for one second that Cordy didn't care that Buffy died. She just didn't want her name to be said so that Angel didn't have to go through the pain every time he heard it.

That's how I always saw it.
uh of course she cared.
her face when she came to tell angel that buffy was alive. clear joy and excitement.

Exactly. Cordelia looked more excited about the news than Angel did. I'm sure Angel was ecstatic though. He must have been bouncing off the walls when the cameras went out.

I thought Cordy cared that Buffy had died, ok she didn't do an Angel and go away for a few months but to me I thought she showed respect. Look at the way she spoke to Angel about it all, she didn't crack any jokes about Buffy. If it had been Cordy from when she was back in high school then she would have made fun but this showed that she had grown as a person and cared for them.

Ok she and Buffy weren't on the best of the terms but I think she was sad that Buffy had died and also seemed pleased to know she was alive again. As for not saying her name I think it was more of a joke on the show as much as Cordy not wanting anyone to say her name, but still I didn't see any disrepect over her death from Cordy.

No, she didn't. She handled Buffy's death in a much more logical, mature way. We don't know whether she, Wes, or Angel went back to Sunnydale for whatever private ceremony the Scoobies might have had in lieu of the funeral that they obviously didn't have, but I'm relatively sure that they did, (Angel and Spike probably got in a fight and had to be pulled apart.) and I'm just as sure that they all genuinely felt her loss. But the rest got on with the business at hand. They didn't go off to Tibet to brood while the hopeless still needed help.

I don't remember this disrespectfulness. *Goes to consult the comic*

*Comes back* Which comic was this?

Well, I can't wait to read that part of the comic.
Of course, I've always loved Cordy more than Buffy, but if Buffy would joke about it, I may have to konk her.

Of course, we miss all the actual grieving over Buffy, but like everyone else said, she seemed generally respectful of the death and extremely HAPPY when they said she wasn't dead anymore. I think it's safe to assume she was upset about Buffy dying.
They were friends, after all, maybe not the CLOSEST of friends, but friends and worked side by side. Besides, by then Cordy had the visions and had learned more about the "pain" people were in and what the "calling" to help was. I'm sure she had begun to understand Buffy in a way she never actually did while in Sunnydale.

Just a thought.

can someone please explain in detail what joke Buffy made about Cordy dying?? And I think Cordy did care about Buffy dying, remember her face in S2E22(forgot the name) when the gang comes back to the hotel and Willow's sitting there and Angel says "It's Buffy"... she looked just as shattered as Angel did... Like many of you said, she didn't want Buffy's name to be said so that Angel didn't have to hear it...

I so hated Buffy in the comic when she made that crack at Cordy. Buffy's never been my favourite because she can be such a beeyatch and that comment did it for me. It was so disrespectful. Sure they weren't exactly best buddies, but she had been a Scooby and Buffy sounded really immature in that comic.

Cordy handled Buffy's death with more maturely and with more respect. She was also happy when Buffy was alive.

So yes in a way she did care. Unlike Buffy"I'm better than Cordy" Summers.

OK, rant over.

I think she cared... Cordy isn't the big emotion shower when it comes to things like death. She deals with things differently.

I think this is the part everyone is talking about:

Cordelia and Harmony and all of the Cordettes are picking on, making fun of, and insulting quiet shy little Willow,
and Buffy comes up to Willow and says "No Biggie Will. Maybe someday She'll be dead, and you'll be a
Supreme Sorceress."

It was rather rude (if this is infact what you all are talking about) But I think she was mostly just trying to cheer Willow up, she didn't mean anything.
I think Buffy's death effected Cordelia and Cordelia's death effected Buffy in some way too. I was so pissed when they killed off Cordelia, that's like killing off
Willow, Xander, or Giles. It's just not right. She was an original Scooby even!!

HA HA! Love the banner!
I don't find it as though she doesn't care, personally. As it's cheering her best friend up, who's upset (i'm assuming Will's upset). It'd be like.. Xander going back to live in his teen days and telling Buffy (post-Innocence) "Don't worry, one day maybe he'll be dead and you won't have to worry about him massacring all of your family." All the while perfectly knowing in a few months, he really WILL be dead (or at least he'll be in hell).
