Perhaps he did, think only about himself, and his hatred for Angel, and really, I never liked Xander. But I've thought about this, when Buffy and Angel were fighting in becoming part1, Angel knew that her heart wasnt in it, and we knew thast she was waiting for Willow's spell to work. At the end of Becoming p2, If Buffy hadn't put her all into it, Angel would have killed her, and he would have let Acathla out. The only thing that would have changed if Buffy knew, is she would have tried to stall him. He would have tried that much harder, if he knew why she was stalling. And it would have probabally been twice as traumatic on her if she beat him back, still had to kill, and was fighting for that chance that will could change him bac, Before he actually changed. So for as much as I hate Xander, I think that he, whether unwittingly or not, made the right choice. It ultimately saved Buffy

I agree totally.
While it was horrible and caused anger to have Xander lie to Buffy, in the end it worked out how it should've of. Buffy needed to be strong and determined to beat Angelus. Knowing that he might be changed back to Angel would have weakened her.

I just watched becoming again, and I watched his face, i think he hesitated, Because he was concerned, I still think he made the right decision, even if it was selfishly motivated

I dont think inside he realised how much Buffy loved Angel and how hard it would be to kill him.

Of course he did. That's part of the reason he didn't tell her. He knew it would be infinitely more unbearable for her to kill him if she knew that there was still a chance to get his soul back. Xander didn't do it for any selfish reasons. He did it because he loved Buffy, and he knew that if he told her the truth it would have hurt her even more.

No, I think it was the absolute wrong decision and a most terrible mistake, I hope he still feels guilt!

Probably..Buffy is a Slayer and it was ultimately her decision and not her friend trying to feel strong...

When I watched the episode my first thought was that he didn't tell her because of his dislike of Angel. I still think that was his reason for not telling her. I think what he did was selfish, I don't think he thought about Buffy, I think his only thought was to get Angel out of the picture. Even though he did luck out, and in the end it did help Buffy, in my opinion his reasons were selfish ones.

I don't think he was thinking about getting to Buffy. It was clear that he didn't have a shot, he took his anger and frustration out on Angel.

It seems like there is a general hatred toward Xander here that is making a lot of you biased. Xander is always there for the scoobies, and his only motive was to help his freind.

He may of at the time been thinking about his hatred for Angel, but maybe not. We never really know hwat he was thinking. He could have been thinking about how it would affect Buffy, and was only trying to make things easier for her. Its unlikely, but possible. He may not have wanted her to hold back in her fight and get hurt or killed. We can't really know what way he was thinking about it. It really depends on what he was thinking as to if he made the right decision.

i think Xander should have tolled buffy what willow was doing! an i loved it in 'Selfless' when there mentioned it.

I have to admit, at first I wanted to choke Xander-but the truth is, he was right. There was no way that she would've been able to keep him at bay for long enough time without getting herself killed-and if she'd known, that's all she would have been trying to do.

I think the whole situation would have been a lot better if he wouldn't have involved Willow in it.

Even though he knew that Willow was trying the spell, and his own feelings for Angel were that way.... and Buffy did not need to know that they were trying... because it would have affected the decisions she made (to kill Angel)

If Xander would have just said the message from himself... maybe it wouldn't be such a big deal.

I don't hate Xander. What I think we have to remember is that Xander was a 17 year old boy, who wanted revenge on Angel. He had every right to want revenge. I mean Angelus killed Jenny and put the group through a lot of emotional distress. But was he right not to tell Buffy....I don't think so. Even if it was only addressed in later episodes, he could have told her what he had done. It's obviously something Buffy has kept in her mind since it happened.
