Did you like Connor?

It's a train wreck. My mind that is, when I tell someone to desist from their line of thought and they disobey me. Have you seen trains collide? Bodies everywhere. There is blood, guts , and the screaming from those poor fools that survived. When they realise what has become of their loved ones. Oh NOOOO! Why? WHY?

I didn't like Connor at all in season 4. In fact I found myself thinking that they should have just shipped him and Dawn off to some remote island so they could spend the rest of their lives together in perfect harmony screaming "You never loved me!!" and "Get out get out get out!!" at each other until the end of time.

Maybe they could find a little island for you as well..
I can understand that he would be tremendously upset about growing up in a hell dimension but that didn't mean he had to treat Angel like a piece of crap. Angel was offering him love and comfort and you'd think that he'd be happy about it.

Gah. Did you watch season 4, because you clearly didn't understand Connor and his relationship with Angel. First of all. Regarding Connor's feeling to Angel. Connor was brought up with it drummed into his head that Angel WAS the bad guy. Holtz had one last trick to convince Connor of this. How the hell is Connor supposed to know that Angel isn't this master of deception and evil? Secondly. Angel offered Connor love, but Angel's love comes at a huge price. He also offers Connor, demons, violence, and murder and all the things that detracts from Connor just wanting a normal life. Which is something Angel just can't give. Yes, it sucks, but it sucks for both of them. It is not Connors fault.
It was the same old attitude with Dawn (but different situation).
Not really. Both their lives were lies, yes we know this. But Dawn wanted to be special, to be like Buffy. She ultimately learned to want otherwise, but thats beside the point. Connor just wanted to be normal. Have a normal life
I don't know about anyone else but I have no patience for people using things that have happened to them as an excuse to act like a little brat. Everyone goes through stuff....boo hoo....deal with it.
He did deal with it. He dealt with it the only way he knew how. With violence.

Not trying to sound harsh but....that's just how I feel.

I did however like Connor a lot in Season 5 when he finally grew up and acted like an adult.
Whatever.

Ummm....I'm not sure where you live but here in North America people are entitled to their opinions.
Yes, you have my sympathies.
It's not crap. Time to get off your high horse there.
Is that what time it is? Okie dokie, smokie.
You're not making any kind of convincing argument.
Yes because your "I didn't like connor because he was mean to his dad", is such a great point.
Saying that I didn't like how Connor acted is not a misinterpretation of what is shown to me.
You said he was acting like a brat. An impudent spoiled 12 year old acts like a brat. Connor has never had a childhood. He was expected to be an adult from an early age.
I understand that Connor went through some terrible things (scroll up...I said that already)....but that's not a license to act like a prick in my opinion.
You don't understand. That's the point. You are looking at the story without seeing the STORY.
In case you weren't aware...intellectual masterbation will make your brain hairy. :rolleyes0

In case you weren't aware, Cordelia said it best when she said.."Wat are you, deficient?"

I never said "I don't like Connor because of how he treated his dad" ....if you can find where I said exactly that then I will stand corrected.

I also said more than once that I understand that he went through some terrible things....but that does not mean that I have to find his behavior justified or acceptable by any means. I'm not quite sure why you're finding that concept so hard to grasp. I don't think it's right that we condone disgusting behavior based on things people have been through....that completely takes the responsibility off of him for his actions and it's just not right in my opinion. Just because I disagree with you about Connor doesn't mean I don't understand. You obviously have a very one sided view of things. If you could just stop for a second and realize that your view of things isn't the only way to look at things then you'd probably get along much easier in all areas of life.

It sounds like you love Connor.....fine....all the power to you. You're entitled to your opinion as am I. Perhaps you should be shipped off to the island with Connor....call it a lover's retreat. ::wave::

When I come on these boards I expect to have a difference of opinions with people....that's what makes for fun, friendly debate. Perhaps you need a "time out" and then come back and try to continue this conversation without insults and demeaning comments.

i have a feeling i will get insulted and torn apart for saying this, and am possibly just going too much into it, but i totally agree with all those who say they're entitled to their opinions. you said it! i understand that we can have a huge and heated debate about this til the cows come home, and everyone might never see each other's side clearly, and it's even ok to say 'hey, i dont agree at all. where'd you come up with that ridiculous idea?!', but insulting the person making the opinion just s*cks! even if you insult the opinion, there's not necessarily anything wrong with the person who had it! stop being so rude!

on that note, my opinion, which im totally entitled to, is that i didnt like connor. i can see he was a complicated character full of layers, and i see his side. still, his character got tired and boring to me and i was bored of seeing him do the same 'life stinks, angel's a monster' bit. and he became cordelia/jasmine's pathetic little slave. it was almost relief when he got that new life deal. and if his life was so terrible, and he hated angel so much, then how come he got the new memories, got the old ones back, and 'boom!' he was fine with all of it?

this is my opinion. there's nothing wrong with me for having it even if you think its stupid. nothing.

I agree that his whole "life stinks" bit got a little tired after a while!!
Yes, i have changed my mind. Connor sucked as a character. Absolutely no right being the moaning whinge bag he became, how dare he.
I mean, come on Connor, the second you landed back on earth and saw Angel there, you should have forgotten the fact that you had spent (i change but i dont know exactly how old he was....15-18), the last 17 years in a Hell dimension, which i'd wager your Quor'Toth dad blamed on your Bio Dad, you should have forgotten all the lies the man you saw as your father had told you about your biological father killing everyone that Holtz loved in such a sadistic manner, you should have forgotten that every single day you had to fight for your exsistence, while nearing the end of it having to watch over your 'father', you should have forgotten that you was the spawn of Vampires, and shouldnt exist, Connor, you sicken me with your attitude.....just suck it up to experience and be a well balanced boy....i hear Notre Dame has placings.

Ok, well thats alot so i'll give you some time.
So, the time a month has past, you should by now have forgotten all the above, but now forget that your biological father has, to your mind, just killed the ONLY person who has been there for you for your entire life, the person who treated you as a son, you should forget that, as far as you are concerned the person who claimed to love you with everything he had, hadn't 'saved' you from Quor'Toth, i mean, surely if he really cared he would have found a way....you found one to get back.....didnt you!!

Ohh, still suffering, well i'll give you a bit more time.....
Another 5 months(?) have passed, you should be able to forgive everything by now.
So your 'father' is dead, so your biological Dad is back and banished you from his sight, you should forget all that and forget that the one person you thought you could trust and love only used you...seeing a pattern...who inturn spawned another person you thought you could trust and love used you, you should forget that you believed yourself the one resonsible for a 'Beast' arising, you should forget that you were faced with killing someone that you loved, then you should forget that you were so low that you were about to commit suicide, while taking the life of one of the that initial people to love you.....
Seriously, dude, get a grip, just deal........like they always say......it could be worse.......you could have been BUFFY!!!.

I can understand that he would be tremendously upset about growing up in a hell dimension but that didn't mean he had to treat Angel like a piece of crap. Angel was offering him love and comfort and you'd think that he'd be happy about it

Kimm this is a comment you made....this is one of your reasons for disliking Connor.....that to me answers this

I never said "I don't like Connor because of how he treated his dad" ....if you can find where I said exactly that then I will stand corrected.

I also said more than once that I understand that he went through some terrible things....but that does not mean that I have to find his behavior justified or acceptable by any means. Like i say, i totally, now, agree.....Serious Hard cheese young man, but have a cuppa and everything will be hunky dory....

IF someone doesnt like the character because they just found him blah then, fair game, but the reason alot of people Hate him is because of his treatment of Angel, well, that IS totally justifiable.

It isnt until he has a total break down that he tries to kill himself, before that, he fights on the side of good, he takes on the bad guys, he isnt a bad guy himself....its not like he came out the other side started going on a rampage killing, stealing, fornicating, he had a grudge against someone he percieved, and led to believe, was an evil being.

sorry if any of the sarcasm goes over anyones head...PM me and i'll explain....or you could email me at you'rehavingalaugh@myexpense.com🙂

not only do i respect your opinion, but it is a good argument and sarcasm to good use :D (though you probly dont care i think this)
Yeah...I said he didn't have to treat Angel like a piece of crap. That doesn't mean that the reason I hate Connor is based exclusively on that. Like I've said 3489038532049859043 times already....I'm not arguing that he didn't go through some terrible things and I'm not arguing that he didn't have the right to be extremely scarred and upset because of these things....but from watching his character it seemed he always got some kind of personal satisfaction out of hurting those around him. Okay okay....yeah he grew up in a hell demension, blah blah blah....so that justifies everything he did...I forgot!!

You can go all sarcastic, rude, etc. as you want on me....I still have my opinion and it isn't going to change.

I didn't like Connor. I didn't like how he acted. I can appreciate the importance of his character on the show but that's as far as it goes.

I'm not asking anyone here for permission to have this opinion and at this point I could care less whether you disagree with me or not.

even if i didnt agree, id respect your opinion. its fair to ask that others do too, and i respect the opinion of the connor-likers.

Personal satisfaction?? Like I said previously. Misinterpreting the show.

You can go all sarcastic, rude, etc. as you want on me....I still have my opinion and it isn't going to change.

Could you be a bigger hypocrite?
1. You have made sarcastic rude comments of your own.
2. If you're so close-minded whats the point of coming to a site like this? You aren't even open to the possibility that someone else might have a better grasp of the situation. A different opinion from your own, might be better. Hell, I'm starting to wonder who the asshole is here.

:mad25: So why come here? Do you only read your own posts? You do not care for others opinions. I despise hypocrites.

Oh, and I'm sick of hearing this, "its my opinion" crap. It sounds like whining to me.

It doesn't sound like I'm the one that has a problem with other people's opinions.

If you've ever read any of the threads I've posted on then you'd see that I have never insulted or put anyone down for having a different opinion than me. You're the one that started that nonsense.

I can definitely see things from all different sides but I will not sit here and tell you that your opinion is better than mine because I don't think it is (otherwise I wouldn't have a different opinion than you would I?)....you need to get over yourself.

Anyway....I'm finished with this....it's unfortunate that some people on here are unable to have civil, friendly debates about a topic but I suppose that's life.

I apologize to everyone else for taking over this thread with this ridiculous stuff....if anyone else has an opinion about the topic I'd love to continue this conversation with someone else.

I apologise, sincerely. I don't know where that shit I write comes from. I think it might be my intense hatred for halfwits. I apologise for taking your stupidity out on you.

Maybe one day I will learn how to stop people from breathing, just by the power of my will. Oh well, one can only hope for a better world.

Go back to discussing how Connor was a meanie to his old pop. :chainsaw:

I think that Connor was a meanie to his own pop. I mean sure he lived in a hell dimension and I can't imagine how hard that must have been for him, plus losing the only guy that ever took care of him(Holtz) but Angel really tried to reach out to him numerous times. I like Connor but I do think that the "I hate Angel" thing got old really quickly.

Yeah I agree....it seemed that Angel tried sooooo many times to reach out to Connor but he got nothing but anger and hate in return.

It was really nice in season 5 to see them connect how they did when Connor realized what Angel had done for him.

I agree, I liked Connor better in Season 5. All the angst had gone.

I hated the way he acted towards Angel. I know he had his reasons but Angel tried so many times and Connor was quite calculating. I really didn't like the Season 3 finale, as I was beginning to think that maybe Angel was getting through to Connor and then Connor dumped him in the Sea. I know that was because Holtz manipulated Connor into believing that Angel had killed him, but it annoyed me. I think my hate towards Connor was because I'd really looked forward to seeing Angel's relationship with Baby Connor grow and then this was ripped away from us.

I just hoped for their to be a happy ending to Connor and Angel and finally in Season 5 we recieved one! I don't want to get into the whole debate that has been going on in this thread, but I really don't agree with your views Psychotic Jackass. You say that Kimm is closed minded but I find no evidence to that, I just find you abusive and unable to listen to others opinions, if they vary from yours. I think that some of your points are right but I don't agree with the way you have put them across. It is possible to put forward your views without been overly aggressive and making another member of the forum feel bullied. Anyway I felt I had to say something to defend Kimm, yes some of her opinions may not be the same as yours or others but she doesn't have to back down from these opinions just because you don't like them.

I think that Connor treated Angel badly but I know why he did and I get that he needed to be that way for the story to work, it doesn't mean we have to like it!

I think my hate towards Connor was because I'd really looked forward to seeing Angel's relationship with Baby Connor grow and then this was ripped away from us.

Yeah I'd have to agree that I sort of felt the same way too....it seemed that just when Connor and Angel were going to start forming a father/son relationship Connor threw him in a box and dropped him in the ocean....was really disappointing!! ::water::

I hated him. And from the first minute. He came back as a teenager, and I hated him more. He stole too much good storyline that it gets on my nerves that they put him there in the first place.

I really liked Connor. I thought he was a great character. I was not a big fan of the whole Cordelia thing, which was wrong on several levels, but I really wish Angel had helped Connor through what he was going through and that Connor had had a bigger part in Season Five.

In my opinion, as others have said, Connor's treatment of Angel was justifiable. Holtz had spent years telling Connor how corrupt Angel was, so I can't really blame him for believing it. Also, I liked that in a way he gave Darla a soul, and she sacrificed herself to give birth to him.

I could understand that Conner had misplaced loylay with Holtz, but i could never understand why he believed that Angel was evil i mean if the were the case he would of killed the crew that were working with him!!! plus i never understood Holtz not getting that either???? I did feel for Conner but i never liked his behaviour, he had no common sense no logic ok the logic was skewered, but that was Holtz's fault not Conners he had been brainwashed by Holtz and that made me mad.

I liked connor when he was a baby, so thats something. when he came bak from the hell dimension i thought, hey this could be interesting. but it just went from bad to worse for me. i have to admit i could not stop watching but he really really annoyed me, he acted like a spoiled brat even though he obviously was not spoiled.
