i was thinking... that everybody talks about once more with feeling or grave or tabula rasa.. but no one talks about, for me, the best ep from season6, dead things. it proved that when buffy was lonely she runned to spike. not to the gang. i'm not a Spuffy fan but we have to addmit that spike was very brave taking care of buffy when she tought that she murdered katrina. he proved one more time that he loved buffy..
tell me your opinion if you like or not this episode.
 
This is actually one episode where I don't like the Spuffy relationship. I know, know, you're shocked, right? 🙂

The thing I don't like is Spike's insistence on keeping Buffy away from turning herself in. It showed the darker side to Spike, the part that didn't really make some fans happy. I personally loved soulful and 'innocent' (couldn't think of a better work for it) Spike. The one who thought through his actions and though with his brain/heart instead of demon soul/teeth.

If he really had truly wanted to show his compassion for Buffy, he would've helped her with her decision, instead of insisting that the just brush off the death of a human by her hands. That was not the way she worked.

So, that's my opinion on the episode. I do like the episode, it's got a different twist to it, and a crazy dark side. I do like the Bush song playing during the episode!

all i have to say (since i havent seen it in a while) is that i absolutely hated it the first and second times i saw it, but i liked it soooooo much better the third time! the spuffy stuff didnt bug me as much and i very much enjoyed the willow/tara stuff and the just tara stuff.
 
i guess spike just wanted to protect buffy. but it's your opinion and i respect that. no one likes this ep.. but i don't actually see why. but i liked your comments.. thanks =)
 
I just thought thi episode was kinda boring, I know it was eventful, but I didn't find it the most entertaining to watch!
 
I kinda agree with BEG.

The episode just didn't hold my attention, not compared to some great episodes in this season.

Spike was the Vampire in this episode though. This was one of those moments you knew what he was. Spikes line of Vampire/Humanity had been steadily blurring for over a year, then boom, there is no doubt again. Its instinct for him to do what it takes to get what he wants.

The other thing it did show, although he is still a Vampire, he is a poor neutered one. Spike of School Hard would not have had trouble disposing of 'evidence' such that it would crop up later.

I think that while the writers tried something(which is comendable - who wants a stagnant show?) they failed here.


I have an issue regarding this episode.

Katrina.
Why was she in Sunnydale?
Warren brought her to visit in season 5, she wasn't from Sunnydale.
The presence at the bar implied she was single, so she hasn't met someone else there. Why was she back?

No you are missing the point.
There was no reason for her to be there.
It made no sense. There is no one on here that can answer that. Even if Joss himself came along, he'd be hard pressed to justify that error.

She had no connection to Sunnydale, and her reaction to Warren proves she wasn't back there cause she missed him.
 
it seemed to me a convenient plot device to have her killed so Buffy would be the one to take the blame, but it did chill me a bit just to watch how casually they were willing to disregared human life after an intitial panic.
 
I dislike this episode. It's not a bad one, I just, dislike it. It makes me feel weird and bad in a bad way, err..
And the Katrina being in Sunnydale thing is weird for sure, hm.
 
As for why Katrina came back to Sunnydale, I can think of two: She transferred to USC for some reason, or, probably more likely, she didn't. If Warren was as obsessed with her as he seemed to be, he might have gone to wherever she was (did they ever say that the bar was in Sunnydale? If the three nerds were going to abduct someone, it would make more sence to do it far enough away from their base of operations to avoid discovery)
 
See both of those are so very weak a reason.

A very mediocre defence could wipe those two out really.
Katrina has a place in this epsiode as it shows Warren for who he is, but really it doesn't make sense at all that she should be there.

i totally agree with this SB... I liked the innocent and soulful spike.. this ep i think isnt a good ep that shows what the spuffy ship should be like
 
I like this episode. It was just so confusing and I still don't get it. Things just kept happening. One second, Buffy thinks she killed Katrina, the next she's having sex with Spike, then the next she's beating Spike up. I think I might've drifted off during this episode, because by that part I was so confused... like "Wait a second, how did we get here!? -rewind-" I like that kind of confusion. Plus, it gives me another excuse to watch the episode again 🙂

It's not that it was a good episode or anything, it was pretty awful and dark, but I like it.
 
Brilliant episode. And plus, I think it was good of Spike to try to keep Buffy from turning herself in. One thing I didn't like though, was Spike tossing the body in the lake.
 
Why do you all get hung up on Katrina beeing in Sunnydale? I've never even thought about before. Her part in the series before this ep is close to nonexistent. What do we know? Maybe she just liked the town and desided to hang around... When it comes to the ep - I like it. And I don't think the fact that Spike so instinctively took charge and tried to get rid of the body necesarily has to be a strain of his deamonside - it could just as well simply be love.

They never actualy came out and said in the episode, but I got the feeling that the bar where Katrina was picked up wasn't in Sunnydale. Warren seemed to be looking a one specific target from the moment he entered the place. He would doubtlessly know her hangouts, and he was obviously fixated on her.
 
Well it wasn't one of my favorites because it was the first episode that I started hating Warren because of the way he didn't feel any pain really when he killed his gf. But I did enjoy the way Spike was trying to protect Buffy from the whole thing and keep her head leveled. That was love. :doctor:
 
This is probably one of my least favourite Buffy episodes ever.. this and Killed By Death. I didn't like Buffy in the episode, with the abuse of Spike etc.. I think that was this ep? lol, didn't like it so haven't seen it much. Pretty sure the 'ew' balcony scene was also here. I'm into unconventional sex as much as the next person 😛 but it seemed like it was all about Spike wanting to control Buffy, bringing her to the 'dark side' etc.. with the whole sex metaphor.
