did you like ep dead things?

I think this episode is brilliant. I read an article about this episode and i was stunned - this episode has so many levels and it's so deep!

Sorry, it was a long time ago, I don't remember where I read it. But I promise, this episode is deeper and more amazing than you think, it's more than just sex and rape and dead things.
 
this episode is amazing. It has strong correlations to season's three's bad girls/consequenses when faith killed the Mayors assistant (or whatever he was) and to season four's Who Are You?
What Spike says to Buffy about why she shouldn't turn herself in is remarkably close to what Giles tells Faith and Buffy after the mayor's assistant's death. Being the slayer means accidents sometimes happen and the council has ways of dealing with it. In Consequenses, Buffy takes the Righteous high ground and insists that Faith should turn herself in and pay for the crime. In Once More With Feeling buffy sings, 'I was always brave and kind of righteous, now i find i'm wavering...' Her desire to go and 'pay' for the crime of 'killing' katrina is more to do with wanting to return to simpler times when her world was more black and white and she was convinced of her righteousness as well as a way of escaping her responsabilities of slaying, sister, bills, friends and her very mixed feelings for Spike. When she beats up Spike it mirrors the fight she and faith had when they were in eachothers bodies, when faith was essentially beating up herself. it is the same in this situation only this time spike acts as the mirror for buffy. everything she is saying to spike she is really saying to and about herself.

I can't say I disliked the episode, it was necessary in my opinion.

First off, its one of the last times we see chipped Spike as he was, without him going crazy. I thought it was kind of sweet how he wanted to help in his own way, the only way he knows how, at this point he's still just a vampire with a chip in his head and a crush he probably doesn't understand himself.

I liked chipped Spike probably more then the other Spikes,don't get me wrong he was awesome when he was just evil, and he did a really good job as soulful Spike, but I enjoyed his chip-period the most, because the character was so conflicted. The writers and James did a great job playing that factor. Plus its funny!

Also the episode is a great turning point for the nerds, its the first time you actually see them do something truly evil and Warren's, Andrews and Jonathan's roles withing the trio are defined henceforth. Before Dead Things you just had 'The Trio', Warren turns evil, Jonathan is obviously torn and Andrew, well..., for the first time he's just really Andrew, the way we know (and love?) him. It adds a lot of depth to the three nerds as individuals, yes even in Andrew's case 😉

The fact that Katrina was chosen as the victim was well thought of, imho. It would have been less interesting and maybe less grave if it were someone we didn't know...She was just the right person in the right place at the right time, script wise I think... or if you look at it from her vieuwpoint, the wrong person in the wrong place at an extremely wrong time... ^.^'

I understand why some people might not find it entertaining per se, but plotwise, I think the episode is pivotal, building bridges with the rest of the 6th season's course of events...
