Did you like Ethan Rayne?

I just re-watched "Halloween" and "The Dark Age", and he's pretty awesome. He's a total dick, but super funny at the same time. I thought he made a great bad guy.

Yes, I thought he was great! His plans for chaos always turned out to be really fun to watch. It would have been great to see him again after season 4 (other than in the comics).

He is awesome. I liked that he was funny and a great link to Giles' past which we hadn't really had before. I want to dislike him but I can't.

I think he's freaking awesome! He looks like he's this cool, tough guy, but he's actually kind of a wuss. In Band Candy, Buffy has him pinned down after only 5 seconds and in The Dark Age, Cordelia just trips him over and he hurts his leg, that's it. He's always caught immediately! 😀

Man, there was way to little of him in the series. I Wish they'd do the Ripper spin-off, so he could be part of it.
Oh, and by the way, the actor, Robin Sachs, has a small role in The Lost World: Jurassic Park. That's where I originally know him from 🙂

I always really loved hearing about Giles past, which means when Ethan appeared I enjoyed it as you would incidentally find out more about Giles. I think its good they didn't overuse Ethan though as he was a nice surprise when you saw him. Did anyone play the buffy video game? I think it was called Chaos Bleeds? I don't play many video games but I used to play that game and I always remember Ethan from there.

I enjoyed Ethan, was disappointed that he was handed over to the Initiative.

I liked Ethan he was the anti-Giles, an alternative reality version of what Giles may have become had he not chosen the correct path. I thought Robin Sachs porttrayed him brilliantly making him very menacing yet kind of suave with it. I would have liked to see him around more, especially in later season if for no other reason than to torment Giles.

I love Ethan Rayne... He was pretty funny, and one of my favorite moments is when he tells Giles that he's turned him into a demon in "A New Man" and then goes "Just kidding!" and bursts out laughing. LOL

I always liked Ethan, and have wondered why such a potentially interesting, not to mention cunning, dangerous, and potentially extremely powerful character was just tossed away the way that he was, especially since the Initiative doesn't seem to be particularly lucky in retaining prisoners. About the only possible reason that I could think of as to why he would never have escaped from the Initiative is that he cut a deal with them to help reboot their Super Soldier Program. In fact, I was always suspicious that Sam was the new version (Code name: S. A. M. for "Slayer Augmented Metabolism") created by duplicating the Shadow Men's original spell, (only someone like him would be ambitious and reckless enough to mess with magic that powerful) and that "As You Were" was actually a set up trial to test her abilities. Unfortunately, I never could talk Joss into developing the idea. (Have I ever mentioned that he comes over to our house 3 or 4 times a year for Sunday dinner? He loves my wife's chicken and dressing casserole)

But I haven't given up. We haven't seen the last of Ethan yet, you wait and see. If they can bring the First Evil back after 5 years and Dracula after 4, there's still plenty of time to work him in. In fact, he could very likely be a major factor in Angel's plans for Season 9, given the fact that he probably knew Giles better than anyone else not connected with Buffy, her friends, or what happened during Season 8.

You mark my words, we haven't seen the last of Ripper's ol' conjuring partner yet.

I quite liked Ethan because he was such an idiot lol One of my fave scenes is when he's hiding in the crypt that Giles is looking in and he leaves and Ethan says his little speech and Giles comes back and he's like

" Oh bloody hell I thought you'd gone." lol

He is one of the characters that had to grow on me. First time through I didn't like him at all. But with each rewatch I like him more and more.

I loved Ethan! Not only was he a great villain, but he was funny and was one of the few characters on the show to have a strong connection to Giles in his younger days. So whenever we saw him, we usually got an entertaining episode and learned something about Giles

I LOVED Ethan Rayne. He's my favorite minor character. And I love Robin Sachs. (In part becausde, from his very sparse social media posts, he appears to be an animal lover.)

Whenever you saw Ethan Rayne, you knew it was going to be a great episode. My screen name says it all.

I understand that if the Buffy series bacame wildly popular, there were going to be four spinoffs: Angel, Spike, Faith and Ripper (Giles the early years), and the latter one would have had a lot of Ethan Rayne in it. Angel was the only survivor and to the best of my knowledge, never got picked up in syndication. The other three never saw the light of day, other than whatever preliminary plans were made.

My second favourite minor character? Clem, the one we see playing poker for kittens and leaving town when the apocalypse approaches.

I loved him. Wish he'd been in more episodes actually, think they wrote him rather well.
