I heard this on the ABC news on Thursday 22nd of May 2025

That a newspaper in the Chicago (America) area had a feature of The Ten Best Books To Read In 2025.
However a couple of the books recommended DO NOT even exist.

I hope that journalist lost his/ her job.

Yeah, I didn't believe it when I wrote it, still, I thought it did sound good tee hee.
 
AI has a tendency to come up with stuff that simply is not true, then get aggressive and defensive when pulled up on this.

Based on what I have read, this was a third party content creator who created the article and submitted it. The creator works for Kings Features which submits work. And based on what I'm reading, apparently The Sun-Times doesn't independently check work submitted by Kings (which is a DRASTIC change from when I was much younger). Anyway, Kings has said they have ended their relationship with this specific creator. However, this is only one of 4-5 articles that people have noticed provide incorrect info.

That's ok. Linda McMahon (Secretary of EDUCATION!!!) kept referring to it as A1, not AI in a speech she made to a panel. You know, the steak sauce.

Just more validation that the news outlets in American are full of crap and will twist the truth to fit their own agenda. If you really want something closer to the truth and more unbiased then watch the news programs from other countries.

The BBC may be the only news outfit I know of that publishes stories condemning their own behaviour when they screw up.
The BBC seems to be the best place for Americans to get the most unbiased news about itself. They have no ulterior motive to try to protect so they just tell it like it is. There's no gain for them in trying to swing the narrative one way or the other.

I mainly watch Sky News Australia. 🤘
 
The most balanced news seems to come from Al Jazeera. They may put out a headline later, but they do their fact-checking properly.

I will say as I said in another thread: when I had the inside scoop on something reported in the news, I found that the entire thrust of the story was wrong and every single detail was wrong.

For the OP's post, the writer who got it wrong was AI and no, he's not getting fired anytime soon. He's cheaper than an employee.
 
It's just so funny and sad at the same time that you have to watch another country's news to get the truth about what's happening in your our part of the world.
 
Journalists are terrified of losing access to politicians in their own country but may provide decent coverage of activities in another country.
