doesn't matter how many times i see this episode i cringe everytime i see xander get his eye poked out. it was just so brutal and so permanent. and with xander being my fave character i feel bad for him everytime.

After watching it the first time around (when it was on tv), every time I'm watching that ep...I gotta shut my eyes.

You'd think after years of watching Buffy and Angel other moderately similar things I'd stop being grossed out....nup.

Yup. I looked away the first time, and every time since.
I must be desensitized because it doesn't make me cringe. I'm also a Xander fan, I think he deserved some more Xander centric episodes.. seemed like he was deemed unimportant past a certain point in the series. Anyway I guess loosing an eye is better then if they killed him off.

I close my eyes too now and make a weird face. I just feel so bad for Xander. If it wasn't one of the main characters, I could watch, but...it's Xander... 🙁

I wish Angel when he ran W&H would have set Xander up for a new eye. Very Six Million Dollar Man

That would've been cool, although it could have backfired (like Lindsey's demony hand)
It was too strong, but it was daring, which I'm all for, so I like that they did it, even if I hate that it happened to Xander who rocks.

Xander and His Patch

If you look on the bright side Xander does look cool with an eyepatch!

It depends on your perspective. In the season 8 comics, it looks cool and dashing, a sort of adventurer/pirate thing. In season 7, it just looks like some fat guy who got his eye poked out. (Sorry, but I just can't get past that, "I'm trying to see your point here, Buffy, but it must be a little to my left." thing. comrades in arms just don't do things like that.)

Probably Xander's most OOC line EVER. Seriously, who ever thought that entire scene was a good idea just I dunno, needs to spend an inimate night with Mike Tyson. I fanwank it to say he was still on heavy painkillers and would have never said that in a non-intoxicated state of mind. (Even if Buffy was being insane.)

As harsh as that was, it does reflect Xander. Sure he's all happy-go-lucky guy 90% of the time but you can't say that he doesn't know how to stick a knife in with a twist when he feels the need to.

Dead Man's Party anyone?

The very first time I watch that, I was so shock. and after seeing it again , I notice that even though Spike didnt care much for Zander. Spike was really pissed off.And I know from watching it , Spike knew that Zander did not deserved haveing his eye poked out.I do agree Zander looks sexy with the eye patch. And now Zander does have more reason to make bad jokes and puns lol

Hey Mandy, just wanted to correct you on the spelling of the name, it's Xander with an 'X', you're not the only one who gets that wrong though!
Just a little fun fact, in France he's called Alex instead of Xander.

'Party in my eye-socket and everyone's invited!"

I felt so sorry for Xander too, but as you guys said it's better then killing him off but still it hurt me when it happened.

Season 8 Comics

this is a random question, but i have seen mentioned a few times about the seaon 8 comic. Where can i get that?

Whedon has started a series of comic books that he has designated as Season 8 because they are canon to the series and carry on after the events of Sunnydale. There's a trade paperback that includes the first 4 episodes coming out soon, or the individual issues are listed as available from Amazon, com, and probably several other places.
