Discussion of 1.04 "The Man In The Bear" - Airing 11/1/05 (FOX-US)

And they're back! It's about time.

Good episode tonight. I never expected the killer to be who it ended up being.

Booth and Temperance...those two are hilarious together. I wish she'd get out to the movies more, those movie references are ALWAYS going over her head. Lol.
 
They could have made this show about postal workers or grocery store clerks. Would still be good banter. Virtually every character, mains and guest stars, was trying to hook up with someone! It's like a farce.

The mystery was possibly the most interesting one yet, but I'm not a real mystery fan. Didn't care for the closeups of bear scat. Not a fan of the scat.
 
LOL about the jockeying for position with the delivery girl! Heh!

Booth and Brennan are gold together! I felt sorry for poor Booth with his standard government employee's expense account. LOL that Brennan practically gets carte blanche AND has all the cool toys!

The Indian guy was hilarious. I loved that part when Brennan comes out of the autopsy room and tells him he's not a cannibal. "I knew that already..." Heeee! And the vet - what a nut! I mean, I totally get her point, and it was, in a maddening, twisted kinda way, relevant....but sheesh, lady! Get a grip! Bite the d*mn thing already!

LOL about Brennan putting Booth off his breakfast at the end, too, a breakfast she presumable paid for! I hope, anyway.

I thought it was a good show...they keep getting better and better. Can't wait for next week!
 
I'm glad Bones clocked the guy with a bedpan or whatever it was, heh. Who really does want to listen to the psychotic ramblings and justifications of a cannibal?

I know I'm in a tiny minority, but I really don't care about the autopsy, crime shows. I like that "Bones" mocks all the crime show conventions. Like the villain's (or cop's) obligatory exposition scene.

One thing that strikes me as a little odd: I don't know how the Kathy Reichs novels are in reality, but how is it that Temperence can write compelling fiction and have it run up the NYT list? She's such a pop culture ignoramus, doesn't seem to have any interest in conventional dating, normal human relationships, lol. You'd think you'd have to be more in touch with colloquialisms, normal human behavior, dialogue. She's like a really aggressive science nerd.

It's too bad you don't like mysteries, you could try one of novels. They are pretty far removed from the TV series, but there is that whole 'geek of touch with the real world' thing going on to lesser degree. With Reich's Temperance though, it's more the real world that has the problem, and Temperance does have a small group of people she connects with on a human level.

I don't think I've read a mystery since Sherlock Holmes, grade school. But I respect your take on things N4H. Maybe I'll give Reichs a shot.
 
I thought this episode was one of the best so far. I checked out one of Kathy Reichs' books, so I hope to read it soon.
 
I enjoyed this eppy...but I just found the epiphany on who the killer was a bit of a letdown..it almost felt like they ran out of time and just had to move it along ASAP....it just felt lacking something I guess.

Love David as Booth though....he's such a good actor.
