Discussion of 4.14 "Release"

from thewb.com

Angelus (David Boreanaz) continues his search for The Beast's mysterious master, never suspecting that it could be someone close to him. Meanwhile, Faith (guest star Eliza Dushku) and Angelus do battle while Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) convinces Connor (Vincent Kartheiser) to keep their baby a secret.

By what I have read and seen about this episode it looks like it will be another out of this world ep!!! I cant wait, this is the Angel Season so far!!!

Fred was hot in this episode!
Faith was freaky at the beginning, amazing at the end whilst fighting!
Wes was brilliant!
Cordy was a evil superb lass!
I am actually didnt mind Connor or Gunn in this episode!
Angelus off his trolley, I want to see much more of him I am beginning to act like him!!!
Oh and Lorne was neat, he was in the credits, yeah!!!

This episode was excellent.

Faith just amazed me. She looked almost depressed and dejected at being defeated or half beaten to death from last week's episode, but she kept her emotions tamped down til she got into the shower. She was contained, then she allowed the fury to build up and overflow and then she was calm again. She seemed to have that same kind of numbness from s1 ep "Sanctuary".

I must admit i didn't like the Voice. Beastmaster's (or should i say, mistress) that is. Sounded like an old man, or an old fashioned Shakespearean actor. Sounded weird when the voice kept calling Angelus "sweet boy". I liked Angelus's dialogue with the voice, and the "Deaf" comment in the shop whilst he was torturing the owner for info on the Beasts' master.

The Sanctuary Spell held up on Connor, so he's got demon blood in him (loved the faces he pulled in the mirror  ) but it kind of makes sense.. considering his parents were/are vampires, he's obviously inherited some vampire type abilities (super sensitive vamp hearing, heightened sense of smell, the ability to fly out /be flung off high places (like top floor windows and rooftops) and survive relatively unscathed. There had to be demon blood there.

Loved the final fight scene between Angelus and Faith.. even better than last week's but didn't have the same viciousness as the infamous "Five By Five" fight scene from S1. Faith didn't want to kill Angelus, because she wants to save Angel, i get that.. and that vampire is definitely more agile in his evil-ness 😀

Oh and hurrah at Andy Hallet finally making it into the opening credits..

And next week's episode looks awesome, i really can't wait!!! 🙂

I hated the voice of the Beast Mistress!!!
I loved all of Angelus's dialogue but the best one had to be the 'deaf' one!!!
Oh and Connor in front of the mirror was funny, it reminded me of Angel back in Season 3 when he was pulling faces at Connor!!!

I adore Wesley.........::huh:: I mean I adore the character arc and development of Wesley over the seasons ,last night when he stabbed that druggie girl was just brilliant......Not in a perverted-violence-towards-women type way just in the malevolence he's willing to use....How things have changed eh?:: jack ::

I thought that the episode was ok but the clip for next weeks was a lot more exciting for me!

I was majorly pleased that Andy Hallett was finally included in the credits - it's about time!

It made me laugh though because we had to wait ages for Amber to be added to the Buffy credits and when she finally is she gets shot. Andy finally gets added to the Angel credits and he gets shot too although thankfully the outcome wasn't as severe!!!

I thought that was so sweet!! Also agreed on the hurrah for Andy getting into the main credits 😀

David was superb again in this episode as Angelus. When he's Angel I tend not to find his acting great, I dont know why, but when he's Angelus he is much better.

I'm not liking the whole Cordelia pregnant thing, they already did that with Connor why do it again?

Wes was actually pretty good in this episode, he did well with Faith...still not a Wes fan though 🙂

Cant wait for next week's episode with Willow.
