Lorne Hulks out!!! LOL...gotta love that!
I really liked this episode. It was light, lightning-fast paced and a lot of fun. Highlights for me:
Gunn marking his territory - that was a riot, especially the first time he was discovered.
Wesley and Fred. When Fred asked him what he thought of Knox, who here didn't just wanna give poor Wes a big hug?!?
INCLUSION!!! This was the greatest aspect of the episode for me: they worked all the characters in, and it didn't feel forced to me and it didn't feel like any of the characters got short-changed. Wesley and Lorne finally got some screen time (I retract all my previous gripes about their scarcity this season), and I'm really warming to Harmony - her opening scene with Lorne was brilliant!
My favorite line: Fred saying that some chick from accounting had her ennui removed. That was priceless!

I wish I could watch it again right now. It was hilarious and possibly one of my favorite Angel episodes ever. Peeing Gunn was great, as were Happy Spike and Hulk Lorne. Add a little bit of tension and violence to go with the humor and you get my favorite episode so far in Season 5. "Hellbound" was a little less great than I expected but this was much better than I thought it would be.

Look at how Angel ordered everyone to do important tasks and then he says, "Eve, you'll stay with me. We'll have more sex." Lmao. I don't like "Ave," but that line was absolutely hilarious! Why does Angel think that after a relationship (even a short one) is started, there always has to be a talk?
Spike at the end was great. He wasn't positive under the influence of magic, he just loved seeing Angel get tortured! This was a really funny ep and I doubted Ben Edlund's talent as a writer 'cause of the episode he wrote in S4, but he's really good. I bet Joss wrote the funniest lines, though...
Why does the archduke's weapon cabinet looks very similar to Wood's in S7's "First Date"? Or the weapons cabinet at the Hyperion?
The obvious metaphor: Someone spiking the punch at a party or stress worked out when you sleep.

Ok, more Lorn was a plus, and that talking reflection was a little creepy. And as Lazy Dolphin said, HULK! It was so funny, who would have seen Lorn's subconscious as the hulk??
Did that whole thing with the creepy talking "˜wine' barrel remind anyone else of Dune? The whole body plug thing was a toss back to that I believe. I like that in this show they showed how angel had been neglecting to notice he wasn't the only one stressed, plus everyone had to face that none of them were looking out for each other like they should have been. There were lots of funny parts, and Angel at the end trying to "˜talk' to eve was priceless, she just had no emotion over it, poor angel rejected!
Happy spike was grand, like spike on drugs. And poor Wes, he just can't win with Fred can he.. And why are they bringing up Guns parts so much, lol. One of the writers must have a thing, lol... anyways I think it was a good episode.

I also thought of a Hulk with horns as I watched the manifestation of Lorne's subconciousness!
I'm glad that DB's hair is looking somewhat normal! Again, Angel and Eve are hilarious in this ep! Positive Spike was also funny and Gunn just did that to Angel's chair... I was laughing throughout the episode!

this was an episode to remember...it was hella written well...hella funny...perfect...and that hulked out lorne...was a great surprise...buffy demons usually aren't cool like that...

the one thing i didn't get is that when that demon showed off his axes...they didn't seem that cool...like i expected some cool looking weapons cause he's a royal demon and all...and then that dude just ends up using queer cross bows...that was junk

I didn't like that they cut away to the next shot after a drunk Fred asked Wesley what he thought of Knox! The writers should stop avoiding those moments.

Ennui is like apathy - it's more or less the emotional state of not caring. So having your apathy removed would be like (in terms of the movie Office Space) someone surgically removing your "case of the Mondays".

Very good episode. Not the best, of course. But had a lot of good moments to bump it up in the "very good" region. And I hope you guys are finally happy...everyone got enough air time, especially Lorne. I loved Lorne more and more throughout the episode. Great character. It was sad when he was explaining to Angel why it was so important to him that the party went on. That he had nothing to bring to the group...but he was part of it. Good ol Lorne. It was a little hard for me to understand, how everything was actually happening...but after a while, I put together the individual orders that Lorne gave out...very interesting.
Next episode looks like it might be another good one. Might incorporate our masked mailman.

Meh. It wasn't really very entertaining, or memorable. There were a few funny lines and nice moments, and Amy Acker and Andy Hallett both gave really good performances, but overall it just lacked something that I can't really put my finger on. The same thing that's been lacking all this season. For seven years of Buffy, and four years of Angel, except on a few occasions when the eps were crappy, it was essential for me to watch each episode twice. Apart from the first Angel ep this year, I haven't watched any of the others twice. They just aren't worth it.

I think you put your finger on something Josh. That's pretty much the way I feel too.
Episodes like this one and the werewolf episode seem good, but not great. They're more or less stand alones, so they don't have any significant importance to the Angelverse as a whole, and they're not superior in themselves like say Selfless or Hush, so they don't demand great attention.
On the other hand it's starting to remind of Angel 1. I felt the same way. I didn't bother to tape them. I found myself really regretting that later though, because as a whole you start to miss them.

I don't know, i thought this episode was hilarious! I miss the presence of actual story arcs, but unfortunately, that is no longer the way they want to do things. Roll with the punches, ya know?

Yeah, there was some funny stuff, but before you used to have to watch eps twice to catch everything, they were so full of excitement, funny stuff, and details, but now you pretty much only need to watch it once and you've got everything you can out of the ep. Change is fun and good, but such a drastic change - the only thing that's the same is the characters, and even they are pretty altered- is just jarring.

I'm thinking the first couple episodes of this season could be going somewhere along the same lines as the first few episodes of Buffy last season. What I mean by that is, the first couple episodes of Buffy didn't really have a particularly cohesive plot line pulling them together, except for the random girls being killed. However, when the First eventually did show up and the shows started to get more linear, you would look back at the first eps of the season and be like
"ohhhhh yeah...."
That's kind of what I'm feeling is going to happen with this season of Angel. As the season draws to a close it will bring the first episodes together in a way we're just not seeing right now.
