The offices of Wolfram & Hart are under attack by cyborg assassins who are seeking a magical device that will give them control over Angel (David Boreanaz). Meanwhile, Wesley (Alexis Denisof) is surprised by the unannounced arrival of his estranged father (guest star Roy Dotrice, "Beauty and the Beast") who has come to evaluate Wesley for possible reacceptance to the Watcher's Council.

I'm watching this episode right now, and so far it's really good. Spike is hilarious.."Percy here was head boy"..lol and when he says "shhhh, i've gotta concentrate". Weslly's father going all evil was kind of a surprise. Ok, it's back on, more later!

ok, so that wasn't really wesley' father, just some robot guy. Spikes's trying to comfort Wesley with his "well i killed my mum.." bit was really funny. ooo and Wesley and Fred..is something going to happen there? Very good episode!!

Oooh, I loved this episode, my Fred/Wesley ship is finally in motion!! Also, didn't anyone think that Spike was ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!? I mean, c'mon, he was funny! And, I definately know it's not just my love of spike talkin...

I thought this episode was so funny lol i loved the part where spike goes "I killed my mom, Well i killed her.. then she tried to shag me then i.."

LOL poor wesley i hope him and Fred hook up sometime this season they will make a cute couple they are soo alike...Anyways next weeks episode looks so good...better then this weeks or any episode so far this season Ah i can't wait!

That was so good! I was kind of hoping that really was Wesley's father. Cuz, if he's like that....what a jerk! I've always kind of hoped that Fred and Wes would get together. I wasn't a big fan of Gunn and her in season 3.

Next week's looks really really really exciting!!!

That was classic. This episode was very good. It was nice to get back to some serious action after the last couple. I liked the scene with Spike confronting Eve and I hope we start to learn more about her and what she's up to in the near future. I'm also interested in knowing exactly who was behind this scheme. And next week looks like it could be really awesome.

I almost forgot about that! That whole scene made me extremely anxious to find out what good stuff is in store. Eve is so weird. She's always around Spike and Angel...definitely connections there.

I really really really liked this episode. I was really hating this season. Easily the best of the season.

This episode was great! I just about droped a load in my pants when he shot his "dad". I swear my jaw hung open till he shorted out. I think that was a very imortant scene for Westly's character. It made a huge statement to Fred...I'd be scared too...but I hope he gets what he wants.

And yes, I am EXTREMELY hyped for next week!

Next week! yeah! this episode was sooo good! i love the way wesley says los angeles! its soo cute! spike was funny when he shouted for pavayne! lol that was the funniest part! spike was the best thing for the episode! man darn knox i hae him!

I was laughing so hard when Spike (trying to relate to Wesley) told about how he killed his mom, and then she tried to shag him, so he had to... a nice recap of "LMPTM!" I love the ending to this ep. Very nice with the Fred/Wesley moments and how Wes is still put down by his actual father. I would say that this ep is quite tape-worthy.

This is the first time I've noticed that David Greenwalt is the consulting producer on Angel, despite his work on Jake 2.0. Yay, Dru next week!

Yes, yes, yes and yes, Rayne! I couldn't agree more. I was flabberghasted when he shot his dad (emptied the ENTIRE clip into his dad). This was a huge episode for Wesley's character!

I agree with WatcherWes - this was easily the best Season 5 episode so far. If didn't feel like it was struggling at all...everything gelled for me. Eve wasn't akward, Spike fit right in - it was great. If I had a complaint, it was that Wesley's father wasn't enough of a *******. I was really looking forward to despising the man. But overall, thumbs waaaay up on this one!

Now almost all the guys on Angel have their own "trademark."

Spike's trademark - His New York leather coat from the '70s.

Angel's trademark - Uh... his forehead?

Wesley's trademark - His slow motion dive as he fires the two guns in his hand ("Rain of Fire," "Inside Out," "Lineage").

Why is the WB so against airing a public high school shooting when they let a man shooting his "father" several times air?

This was a good one, I wish it had come in clearer, arrgh! I heard most of it, lol..
Anyways my fav part was when spike was all like "people do have sex with robots you know, it's more common than you think." lmao, he is really funny so far. I am loving these little references to Buffy. And yes I think next week will be good, yay for Dru air time, can't wait for next week.

Wow! and I have to say it again, Wow!

Easily the best of Season 5 so far, and I personally would rate it my favourite Angel episode against the entire series thus far. Drew Goddard is an amazing writer, and don't you love the way he's such a BTVS, ATVS expert. No other writer on the staff can through around references and make them count like Drew can.

It's Shakespearean. It's mythic. It's Biblical. I'm going to go rewind the tape and watch it again.

man...all the eps so far have been stellar...they really puttin the effort into this season...i hope it shows in the ratings...

wes is allot cooler now....falkin emptyin a clip into his pa...damn...that was great...that was the best thing he's ever done....really defined him...

This definitely has got to be one of the best episodes this season. It was complex. It was thought provoking. It was funny as hell. Every character was addressed. Things from past episodes of Buffy and Angel were incorporated into the story.

Spike is learning to have more effect on the world around him - "I have to concentrate" - just killed me. He had some of the best lines this episode. The one about robot sex. The one about Pavayne in the elevator. The one about having to kill his mum.

Angel is fitting better at being the corporate boss. Yes, he was hard on Wesley, but I think deservedly so.

Wesley took a more central role. It was interesting how the portrayed him this ep - very commanding and in control, knowledgeable and assured, but after his father arrived, he became Mr. Bumble. But did you notice how he seemed to remember chopping his last girlfriend to bits? Is this a mindwipe glitch or was there some girlfriend we don't know about (Before Lilah) that he had to mince?

Lorne was definitely funny. Someone should definitely start keeping track of all the celebs he mentions.

Will there be anything to Fred and Wes?

Oooooh. The previews for next week. They look soooooo goooood.
