Discussion of 5.07 "Lineage" - Airdate 11/12/03

In general, I liked this episode, as I like most. I'd rate it 3 out of 5.

However there are a few complaints:
  • Underlightment, this complaint is still standing, though it was a little better this week.
  • Opening, don't get me wrong, I liked the scene with Fred and Wes, however having the camera creep through some dark place AGAIN? When I started watching for a second I though I had downloaded the wrong episode, that this one was the Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinqo.
  • Speeches, Angels speech to Wesley and Wesley's speech to Fred, they made no sense at all. Fred's been in the business for oever 2 years, she knows what she can expect. Wes didn't do anything wrong. Now I know the whole thing was explained (thank you Eve), but I was still like, do we have to do this. (The mentioning of Connor was cool, foreshadowing?)
  • Ending, what can I say. Should've been one bullet right between his real fathers eyes. This being a robot made this episode lose at least one point out of the five for me.

Yeah, why not? 🙂 There's not really any reason why it would necessarily work, but then there's also not any reason why it necessarily wouldn't. I think the reason I was thinking about the "you saved my life" deal was the way Fred was talking to Spike in some past episode. She said, "You saved my life." and she said it so warmly I thought she was about to kiss him or something. 🙂

Another scenerio that might give Wes a chance is the "trapped in the elevator" one. Wes and Fred would have lots of time to talk and talk, etc.

doh! Okay - good point about Fred & Spike, WDH. I withdraw my incredulous remarks and will now go stand in the corner and flog myself for being judgemental without thinking your comments through. 🙂
 
A few minutes ago a bird flew into my window!!! Now I know how Wesley feels 🙁
