It's been a bloody long time over due, but the "::devil:: Big Bad ::devil::" has finally joined the Buffy-Boards. Pass me a pint of blood and some spicy buffalo-wings cause I'm gonna be here for awhile!
I liked this episode alot, and this is now my favorite episode of Season 5. Man this episode was so bloody funny, that I rolled out of my bed to the floor several times in an explosion of laughter and glee. Everything about it was funny, that I ended up watching it at least 3x before finally going to bed. They addressed alot of sub-plots that were left lingering in the ether for too long. They also put some things in motion that will/might/should cause some interesting and hard decisions to be made later on in this season. Ok, time for some inner thoughts on the episode.
I for one thing was glad that Wes and Fred finally got together. I admit at first, when it was Fred and Gunn I felt like they would make the better couple (even though I was also rooting for Wes), but when they broke up I thought that for sure, Wes would have a chance now......but then came that bloody nit named ::evil:: Knox ::evil:: !!! And for awhile I was worried that Wes would never get his shot with Fred. But then on that fabulous/sad episode "You're Welcome" that look that Fred gave to Wes gave me hope that Wes's chances weren't so out of reach after-all. And then at the end when they kissed, I was jumping around my bed screaming "It's About Bloddy Time!!!".
As for the actions of a certain street thug/vampire hunter named Charles Gunn....I'm a little worried about this guy. It's not so much about him being so willing to do whatever he has to to keep his "Lawyer Mojo" (as I like to call it), but it was the scene from "Soul Purpose" where everyone was in the bar and Gunn had those yellowish demon eyes and hissed at Angel. To me, I think that moment as well as the one from Smile Time is a clear indication that Gunn's heading down a trail that will probably cause him to be at odds with the rest of the goodie two-shoes at Angel's Investigations. Guess we'll have to wait and see what develops?
As for the supposed love interest that might be developing between Nina and Angel, I say let it happen!!! Angel needs to have someone in his life, and although it doesn't seems like it will be Buffy, Kate Lockley, or Cordy (those were the 3 women IMO that had a good shot at something with Angel) at least he can have a relationship with Nina....although I doubt that it will happen since there seems to be a pattern with Angel and women. It seems like anyone who Angel has an interest in, something happens that keeps them apart. As some said before, it might just be The Whedon Curse? Although I agree that Nina probably isn't the best choice for Angel....she's better than nothing. And let's look on the bright side, she did manage to make Angel think about the possibility of having a relationship and kept him from brooding somewhat...well at least until Werewolf-Nina decided to have a lil taste of our favorite felt stuffed vamp-puppet lol.
And now for Spike.......well....um, he.......ok, he got beat up by a bloody puppet!!! I said it, are you happy now-lol. Ok, so this isn't Spike's best year/season in terms of battles (a crazed slayer sliced him to pieces, a felt-filled puppet gave him a run for his money, etc) but he did manage to beat Angel once, so I'll take what I can. And did anyone else find it strange....yet somewhat funny that Spike get's his butt handed to him by at 3 foot vamp-puppet??? Guess it true what they say, the Joss Universe is always full of surprises.
Can't wait to see next week's episode, should be a good one since Joss is writing this one.
