Discussion of 5.14 "Smile Time" (WB-US) - Airing 2/18/04

Here's the bad part of the episode:

"Self esteem is for everybody" that stupid song has been stuck in my boyfriend and my heads since Weds. night. It's downright crazy!! 😉

Great to see Fred and Wes FINALLY making it work. About time.

{Sarcastic} I'm glad we brought Spike onto the show for five minutes of episodes just to say a few lines and then not be seen until his next five minute line segment. AH! Very Frustrating. I wonder if we'll even see much of him next week as well... considering after what was seen in the previews.... I doubt it, because it seems like it is going to be centered around the core characters.

But the puppet show was weird, but still enjoyable. I like it when they push the envelope a little bit.
 
I didn't think I'de really care about Wes and Fred getting together...but I found myself a little giddy when they finally kissed. Amazing. The overall episode was great. It truly shows the brilliance of this show, that the WB doesn't see. Too bad. The creativeness of this episode was just amazing. It was good to see the wolf gal back in the game. Looks like she might end up in a couple more episodes towards the end.

'Thumbs up' episode for me.

I am not spoiled and I was thinking the same thing. But now you have pretty much told me what was going to happen. If you are going to say anything spoilerish atall. You should do what I did. What you do is this... In brackets like this[] rather than parenthesis like this() (Spoiler="Smile Time") (/Spoiler)

This is how it should come out...
I do wish people would stop talking like they havent read the spoilers. I mean 'ooo that gunn thing is gonna turn out bad. i think' gimme a break. What you think is what you know from reading the spoilers. Just let others find out for themselves. Please.

As it says in the FAQ, you need to use just [ spoiler][ /spoiler] if you want to use quotes in your spoiler, as the java won't work correctly with them.

And my 11 cents on this issue - people have a right to discuss the next episode without being spoiled. I don't generally read spoilers but I might want to talk about what I think is going to happen, or after seeing the preview for the next ep. If you want to talk about spoilers, go to the spoiler forum.

But now that I think about it - this is for discussion of Smile Time so there should be only discussion of that episode and no spoilers. There is a thread in the Specualtion forum to discuss the next episode.

Maybe there should be a board called, "Discuss (The next ep.)"... for ex., after "smile time" aired a new board would appear called "Discuss 'A Hole In the World'" Just a suggestion.

I know exactly how to write a spoiler thanks all the same. Its so bloody blatantly obvious whats going on from everyones 'intuition' you cannot be serious about blaming me. If you are, then let me just get this straight. You know, because of me, that somethin bad is gonna happen. Oh well I must apologise. That's a massive spoiler afterall. Gimme a break...again. It doesnt even frikkin matter anyway cuz you posted after 'hole in the world' has aired!!! Cheese and crackers.
Anyway less of the blame shifting. I was on your side. And there is a forum thread for the next episode in speculation. So people- USE IT.
 
Although I live in the UK, I'm getting to see these episodes because a dear friend in american is sending them to me via video tape 🙂 and I've juust recieved "Smile Time"
I thought it was so so funny! I think that Spike and his fantastic phrase of "Your a bloody Puppet!!" was hilarious!! I was laughing my head off when I wached it!

I think Fred and Wes do make a really sweet couple, and I got a little giddy too when they kissed, but Angel going out with Nina was a little...weird, because he cant really have a relationship with anyone in case he looses his soul again...but theres my 2 knuts...

this was such a great epp. the puppet had me laughing the whole time i couldnt take it when he walk.... LOL. but really great job db for doing the voice so well, that i forgot sometimes that it was a puppet. till i saw those lil puppet hands. great show, i love it
 
This is one of my new fave Angel eps ever, and the absolute funniest Angel episode I've ever seen. The slo-mo power walk with a battered puppet Angel carrying a sword over his shoulders, "I do not have puppet cancer!", "Your a wee little puppet man!", "You can dream and be anybody, but self esteem is how you get it done." LOL I loved the Fred/Wesley kiss too, I waited so long for them to get together. I know alot of people dont' like Nina but I think she's a sweet girl. It's not going to be like Angel will fall totally in love with her I think, but he deserves to have some fun once in awhile. Spike was only in for a bit but it was so funny watching him get beat by puppet Angel, to be truthful I think he was going easy on him though, he could of probably ripped him apart or something if he wanted to. Nina sure took a piece out of him. That's another part I loved, "My little Prince! Is there a Gepeto in the house?" Gotta love Lorne.

I'm not sure if I liked that one better or the one that followed it when puppet Angel was on top of Spike after blasting him through the wall and Spike calls him "a wee little puppet man."
Some of the funniest stuff I've seen in the entire series.
