Discussion of 6.08 "Charmed in Camelot" (Living-UK) - Airing 2/26/04

The Lady of the Lake appears before the Charmed Ones, pleading for their help in protecting Excalibur, the legendary Sword in the Stone. A dozen magical beings arrive at the manor to try their hand at pulling the sword from the stone, but it's Piper (Holly Marie Combs) who finally pulls Excalibur out of the stone, causing a whirlwind that coalesces into a mysterious figure called Mordaunt (guest star Edward Atterton). Richard (guest star Balthazar Getty) realizes that Mordaunt can't be trusted, but before he can intervene, Mordaunt tricks Piper into relinquishing the sword and its power to him.

I thought this episode was a lot like the first 2 episodes of the season. We've already seen Piper in a role like that, kick ass and slightly possessed. In this season there have been quite a few similar episodes. The two that Paige played a lead role in where similar, they both dealt with ghosts/souls.

I think that making Wyatt the master of Excalibur is pushing it slighty. He already has the storyline linked with Chris, not to mention he's powerful enough as it is.

I was slightly confused at first because Phoebe kept on at Paige about her new boyfriend possibly being evil. I know she was talking from experience but Richard is hardly Cole, or at least I hope they don't do a similar storyline between the 2 men.

Overall, I thought it was an interesting episode.
