In many ways, yes. If the speculation is accurate, Buffy pretty much has the full Slayer Power which she got tastes of in that episode and almost got when she used the Slayer shadow machine.

Willow unleashed the full power of the Scythe on the world, and now it's been concentrated into Buffy. And beyond increased Slayer strength, stamina, healing, reflexes, etc, she may also have Willow's power which was arguably the greatest force we've seen from a major character (Jasmine & Illyria would be the only other contenders as those three outclassed Buffy, Faith, Angel & Spike by leaps and bounds).

This is just a thought that occurred to me awhile ago concerning the apparent blossoming of Buffy's romantic feelings for Xander. Wouldn't it be cool, as well as more than a little bit ironic, if she makes a definite play for him and he tells her exactly what she told him back in season? "Buffy, I'm sorry, but I just don't thimk of you that way."

I would love to see her reaction to that, as well as Dawn telling her to stay away from her boyfriend.

It would just be such a completely new and different experience for Buffy to set her sites on someine and have THEM reject HER for a change.
 
Buffyverse Fan, while I see your point about actors helping the story more, I still believe Xander/Dawn has more build up than Buffy/Angel and Xander/Cordelia. I guess at this point we'll have to agree to disagree. 🙂

That's what I was suggesting before. Xander rejecting Buffy for Dawn. It would've been great to see Buffy being rejected, see her pining after someone who doesn't like her that way. Besides, I don't want Dawn to be the third wheel in all of this.
 
Shouldn't Buffy having all the powers be an affront to the first slayer's power, like in Restless?

Then again, it probably would've been an affront to the original slayer's power to give all the potentials the power of the chosen. Was that addressed in season 7? I don't remember.

But goes on to say the reaction has been mostly positive. What were/are your reactions to FlyingBuffy?
 
I like the idea of Buffy recieving all the slayers and Willow's powers. It'll be an interesting experience for her. However, I hope it won't last, I want her to be as less powerful as possible.
 
Buffy now seems to have pretty much the same super-powers as Twilight (flying, super strength), which will enable her to take him on and defeat him.

Some people suggest this means Twilight is actually Future Buffy herself, which would explain why he seems to know about some things before they happen. (Like saying "that goddess almost killed them" half a page before it happens.)
 
^ I though it's been confirmed that Twilight's a man? Also, Buffy doesn't have a square jaw, nor do almost any women...

I agree with sosa lola on the Buffy flying thing. I imagine there would have been more objections like Scott was expecting if this was done pre BS6/AS3, since in the latter years we got to see Willow & the Beast who had the ability to fly on-screen.
 
My inital reaction was mostly ambivilence. I think i may have shrugged a little, perhaps rolled my eyes. I do find it a little bit 'comic-booky' but not enough to make me angry or irate. Maybe I don't care enough about the comic for it to cause such passionate reactions? I don't know. . .

My hope is that all these uber-powers are temporary

My opinion is mixed. If Bufy is channelling all the powers of slayer's that have been previously untapped, then I favor the plot. But, if she's channeling Willow's power, I'd have to say I don't like the idea one bit.

Since the goddesses had all the Wiccans' powers as well as the Slayers, it would make sense that Buffy got all of it.

The question is, since the Wiccans learn their powers rather than having it automatically like Slayers do, how did Buffy learn how to fly already? Not all witches can fly... Willow had to learn how.

The most likely explanation is that something's happened with Willow to make her powers an inherent part of her, rather than just things she learns. The "Goddesses and Monsters" one-shot in December might explain how she got to that point.
 
I have been talking about it with quite a few of my friends and the reactions are mixed. Some are pissed, but most of us are just confused and wish we didn't have to wait so long for the next issue.

We just want know who Twilight is!

In regard to Super-Buffy: I see it was the only way at this point to defeat Twilight. I mean, Buffy is in my eyes a type of superhero, so giving her super powers seems fitting.
 
As a Slayer, Buffy already has superpowers. She's stronger than vampires, she heals faster, she can jump from building to building - I guess the right term is Buffy getting extra powers.

Remember how awesome season 8 was before the Harmony issue?

I want that Buffy back.

Also, I think that's supposed to be Joss in the forefront on the cover they've got up on the Buffy zone. I was watching some of the Dollhouse season 1 special features, and he's got a pretty serious beard in them. It looks just like him.
 
Don, I want the comics to be like they were the first 11 issues. Those were fantastic with The Long Way Home, The Chain, No Future For You, Anywhere But Here, and a Beautiful Sunset. It was Wolves at the Gate that went downhill with Buffy/Satsu, Mecha Dawn and Giant Dawn fighting in Tokyo, Xander and Dracula apparently being friends since season 5, and Xander hanging out with him after Anya's death. Ugh.

The Harmony issue did make things much worse though. I think Retreat improved but it was a little messy. Here's hoping the last 10 issues deliver.
 
I'm perfectly happy with the story Joss is telling in season 8, as he wants to tell it.

I could try to dictate to Joss the story I want him to tell... but if I could do that I'd be the writer, not him.

Aside from the occasional continuity error and the generally shaky "popular vampires" storyline, I'm as pleased with season 8 as with any of the TV seasons.

The story has definitely changed... but it always has, all through its history. Remember in the middle of season 2, when the story suddenly turned dark and people were saying "What happened? I don't like this... let them go back to fighting weird monsters and trading quips."

That's the thing about Joss Whedon stories. They deliberately take you out of your comfort zone, and you can't always tell how good they are until they're finished.

I'm with you. I'm actually enjoying the second half more, all the gang together and things getting messier. I can't wait to read more.
