So did anyone spot the bad guy in the mercedes that Alex left knocked out in the bathtub? There is something about this guy that is possibly going to be a surprise because the organizers of the race seem to know the whereabouts and everything else about all the participants and employees.
Overall I liked tonights show. Good witty banter and interesting stories developing. I don't trust the Cindy Williams character and you have to wonder is she an employee of the organizers? The cgi for the accident (car sliding on it's side) was, to be nice, piss poor! And not to sound morbid or anything but it would have been nice to see the t-bone which shoved the car over the cliff. It would have IMO added an edge to the show by emphasizing when you are eliminated from the race it's your choice to decide how you are eliminated.
They still gotta work on the tunes it's a car themed show and what goes hand in hand? TUNES.

Yeah, if they're gonna go with the generic modern soundtrack, they could at least use better crappy techno.
I'm on board with the CGI...even though it's not as good as they were saying it was gonna be. Even if it looks kinda fakey, I like the camera zooms, the way it moves through windshields into car interiors. But yeah, the crash looked weird, to put it kindly.
So, who did the T-Bone elimination? Do we know for a fact that it was the race organizers? There doesn't seem to be any consistent elimination rule.
I do like that it's getting pretty brutal and desperate now...how far Alex and the others are willing to go at this early point in the race.

Loved that line of Leigh's when she's all covered in blood, and she jumps in the car with the guy she hitched down. The guy says, "Appomatax, where Lee surrendered", and Leigh says, "Not this time". I'm starting to like her.
You know how I know this show is great. It's over too fast. I'm just beginning to get into it, wanting to know more, and then it's over. The great one's always leave you wanting more.
How did they know that guy wasn't a cop? Was it only because he was a security guard, or was there an implication he was with the race?

Great episode. I loved the entire thing, and IMO, this episode WAS better than the previous ones.

- I'm not exactly sure how they knew the guy wasn't a cop but he did confirm it for 'em. If he is part of the organizers of The Race why would he try to kill them? I really hope they answer this.

I felt sort of bad for the crazy lady who died. She wasn't a GREAT character but I somewhat liked her. Her companion is cool, too, and is tough. I'm now sort of rooting for her. I think if she makes it to the finish line she'll probably try to kill someone to get revenge for her friend. Would love to see that.
This episode was really funny, I love the subtle and clever humor, it reminds me of Buffy, Angel, and everything else Minear has been involved with. Yet the humor always catches me by surprise because I'm expecting it to be...extremely focused on the drama, I guess. But the humor is what makes it work, IMO.
Before I saw this episode, while I was really upset with the knowledge FOX is probably gonna pull the plug any second, I had also come to terms with it. As long as they release it on DVD. But after this episode, the thought of them cancelling it now is a little on the devastating side. There's SO MUCH freaking material they have here, this show could last longer than "Lost", especially since it could have a revolving cast.

I seriously have to question your sanity. If I was on the fence before, there is now no doubt in my mind that this show is horrid.
I was actually embarrassed at moments through this episode at how bad it was.
Where did some of these guys learn to act? If indeed they have been to any acting classes.
The donut that is playing the rich kid, should stop acting now, and look for a more worthwhile career, something that he has some talent with. The two black ladies that were eliminated, and the blonde chick that pulled the gun out on Crazy mom, should all do likewise. I'm shocked that these people can get hired, they simply can't act with any level of competence.
The absurdity behind the whole bank robbery debacle and all the events leading up to it were just cringeworthy.
Alex: "Oh, damn, we need 4 people to pull a bank job"
Blondie: "Quick, to the supermobile! Once we jump in our magic car we'll be able to find those two numpties, one with 'previous', without any trouble whatsoever."
Alex: "Indeed, our car is so magical, we'll just know where they are and be able to catch them in the blink of an eye. For our car is a supercar"
Alex and Blondie together: "supercar! supercar! supercar!"
Bad son: "hey homes, you did the right thing yo, he would have killed us"
Good son: " I think maybe he did. I think I'm dead bro"
Alex: " Hey boys, could you amp up the cheese a little?"
Me: " If this dialogue wasn't so bad and cliche, I might find it difficult to mock this show, as the other elements are so fabu"
God: "Could you just curb the sarcasm for once"
The in-car scenes are the best though. The fake background out the windows is so badly done. Is that what you call cutting edge CGI these days?
The idiotic music choice is the least of the problems for this car wreck of a show. See what I did there? With the pun? Wit like that is what this show needs...much less of.
Also, I love how 4 episodes in, they're already rehashing the same conflicts we've been through with the characters. Nothing says "I have no idea what character development is or how people actually relate to each other in reality" like episode after episode of the same argument. Resolved. Returns. Resolved. Returns. Brilliant writing.
The only thing going for this show is Nathan Fillion. I'm starting to really appreciate the character and definition to his facial features. With the right part, he actually could become a big star.
This show however, when it gets canned, I'd leave off his CV.
Couldn't agree with you more Randy. The potential stories of the racers can range from humour to dark. I just hope Fox gets a major brain cramp and says 'hey we're going into summer, we shot them, paid for them so let's just let it play out and see what happens with the ratings.'
About the security guard I believe he had a patch on his shoulder of the company he works for.
But did anyone see the guy behind the snack bar as they were pulling out of the drive in? I caught a glimpse and paused it on tape and it looked like the mercedes and the guy Alex knocked out in the tub. I think he may be working with the blond chick for some reason. Just a tickle in my imagination or I'm practicing my senior moments. lol

Didn't see snack bar guy. I'll have to rewatch the episode. That's interesting though...
While the blonde chick is probably going to double cross Alex sooner or later, I kinda don't want it to happen. I like them working together, they're amusing.

Truly, about the 3rd time Winston said "homes", I was done with him. Now that he's said it about a thousand times, he needs to die painfully in a fiery rollover. And yeah, the other Salazar...there's just nothing there. Bad acting and/or weak character development.
To me, this show is a weird mix of generic FOX assembly line product, and flashes of fun Minear touches here and there. I'm still on board.

I don't think it will be a double cross. I think he lost someone in the race as well (maybe his wife was kidnapped too) and is on the same mission as blondie (wish I could remember her name). I think they both orchestrated a scenario to convince Alex to take her as his partner so that she is in the race and WSG (white shirt guy) stays in the background gathering info etc. I don't know why I'm thinking this but it would be a cool angle for the series.
