Well, we now know how Spike came into possession of his ship and why the crew refer to him as "Your Majesty," but as to how he found out about you-know-who doing you-know-what to, for, and with you-know-which-Slayer, we're as much in the dark as we ever were. IDW's idea of "bridging over" between their story line and Dark Horse's leaves me unimpressed, especially considering the fact that there's supposed to be a year and a half or more between Spike's last appearance in IDW and his first appearance in Dark Horse, and the REAL answers of who did what for what reason that led to which results are still as much of a mystery as what happened between the last scene in "Chosen" and Buffy jumping out of that helicopter at the beginning of Season 8.

I just read up to the 7th issue. Sometimes very well written, often very beautiful art. Then there's the parts that makes you go "yuck". Bad inking, continuity errors, and Spike feeling regret without a soul. I know he could feel love, and regret when he hurt people he loved, and I know we don't know exactly what he meant by what he said, but he just seemed waaaaay too good and champion-like after he lost his soul and was lecturing John. Saying he regretted his time with Drusilla? He couldn't be 100 per cent serious, could he? I really hope something was lost in translation, or he was in denial, because yuck.
I mentioned in my letter that was posted in Freefall that I wanted Lynch to write more Spike comics. But I'm starting to think that could be bad. Of course, it could be that I had such high expectations. Could be it.
Could also be that I expected more "Oh I miss being evil" from Spike if he ever lost his soul. Just a smidge of that, and less I'm-a-champion-talk would have been great.
Now I read the last issue and think it was very nicely tied up. Funny, poignant, well written. Issue 7 was noooot a favorite though. But I'm back to wanting Lynch back..D
