In my experience, nobody wants to risk those very public hysterics. Since ED is particularly good at doing "Hysterical!" (It's partly the voice) Davis should have known the risk. He works in a freaking morgue, you'd think he'd be better at breaking bads news...

And that desperate dress. Poor Tru had to see it twice as much. 🙁

Which brings me to the highlight of the episode.

"Do you think your mom would mind picking you up from my office?"
"Why no, complete stranger woman. No questions asked, she'd be quite happy to pick me up from your office. Your office at the morgue. "

I forgot about that line, not seen it recently, it was a wee while back I watched it but that is a classic line.

As I said to Faith I have put up with Tru for the first season, wanting to watch it all and still, doesn't make me want to watch it next season. I can see the potential draw-in factor but to me its all blah blah. I've given up on Tru, I hope it does well but I won't be watching it.

Dawson freaky head I totally agree with and I love banana dance. But Harry well I have a feeling this is going to be a long running joke between us 😀

I was actually close to tear in the episode [I'm one of those people who get really emotionally attached to Tv Characters] and even though I had spoiled my to the bone with this episode I was still pretty agasp when they showed Harrison in the hospital promising Tru he'd ask for help. And thank god he did or I'd vow NEVER to watch the show again. And to point out another thing, my god that Randall guy is annoying if anyone should of died...kidding. I dont think he's in the second season so it's all good. Last complaint now, but Jack is such a blah character. He doesn't intrigue me at all...they need to shoot some more personality into him. He need more emotions besides "Calm Know It All" and "annoyed"

But I'm really looking forward to season 2, Eliza can pull off alot of things and she pulled this off well in my opinion!

I was so stressed with the Harrison situation too....garrrr

Xander Harris..totally agree about Eliza and I can't wait for next season (luckily it starts pretty soon, I've been without Tru for several months now!) and I hope we see more of Jack..more into his psyche instead of just 'don't mess with things.'

I'm the same and get made fun of because I cry, but you watch things and you get attatched, its the way I am. I had a feeling they wouldn't because he's the only family left and he is a popular character, and even when he knew he died he was asking how hard people cried which was classic Harry for me.

Same way here as well...hubby and I both really love the character of Harrison, and I do get attached..I was frightened it would be him because they were phasing out Tru's circle...got me a little concerned. 🙂

I saw it too (Yay TV3!) and it was really funny to see it the massive differences between this and the later episodes I started with. For example: I've been whinging about all the running for half a season. Now I find out Tru's a track star. Laughed pretty hard. Tru running for her diploma was an added bonus.

I gotta say, everybody seems to agree that there were big improvements made between the pilot and the rest of the series, but I thought the Pilot was terrific compared to most of the series epps. The plot twisted well, and though I yet again find myself questioning Davis' credentials, I liked the exit wound twist. Just complex enough, and Tru's rather devious method of saving Coconut Head was clever. I liked Tru's unexpectedly dubious approach to getting everybody through the day more or less intact... Lots of very cool stuff that drifted out of the series later on... (I love bullety points, btw, brace yourself...)

* Davis being a complete and utter wierdo. People referred to his wierdness later on, but he was pretty blandified by the time I first met him... Weirdo Davis was way more interesting.

* Tru not having that slack jawed expression all the time. Pilot-Tru is shocked by whats going on, but she doesn't have that dumbfounded, mouth agape, looking to the left-hand-middle-distance thing going on all the time, like Series-Tru does.

* The morgue camera work. This was cool. Skewed angles, Matrix style colour twinging... sort of Twin Peaks meets Six Feet Under. The later direction was a lot more pedestrian, and it's a shame, because it would have given the show the distinctiveness it sorely lacked.

And the oh-so-Angel time lapses not only didn't annoy me, they were cool. They were done with impressive panache, and the last one was stunning. And I don't recall a single blindingly obvious flashback. My favourite epp so far, oddly...

And they always had her in low cut tops when she was running!

The one thing that I really didn't like in the pilot was the flashes back, it was too fast and to bright and made me throw up. Luckily it seemed to slow down on the further episodes. Its one of the drawbacks to being sensitive to lights and flashes.

Yea when she was walking in the forrest I was thinking of what she would do when the day restarted, then she woke up and all my plans were gone!
I found this episode hard to catch on because there were all these suspects then 'no he cant be it because he was..' and it was a little hard to folow for blonde me!
