Disliking your friends...

I have a whole story about my supposed best friend of fifteen years or so and when she all of a sudden decided that I wasn't good enough for her... It was fun.

Yes, I used to me and my bestfriend really close to someone till we hit junior high and she started to hang with the popular crowd and started to change. I kept my mouth shut for about 2 and a half years until we got into an argument and it ended there. We some what made up but we don't talk much.

Yeah, I've been to the "friend gets too good for the rest of us" type thing. Right now, my best friend has just been really getting on my nerves. She's become very...I don't know how to put this...money-orientated? You ever meet someone who's completely obsessed with stuff like Gucci and Prada, just because of the name, because they think that that stuff symbolizes some kind of status amongst people? She's kind of like that. More so than ever, I tend to think that she would screw me and my other best friend if it meant that she could get ahead. When it comes to school, we all have a tough math class together. When it comes to the more frustrating assignments that no one can figure out, she automatically pipes up with "Well, *I* have this and this and this to do...". Like the rest of us aren't just as busy...or our own problems don't compare to her own. She just acts like she's superior to everyone, because she does so much. I mean...I love her to death, and she's a good friend, but I can't stand people like that...

And what really turned the tide in how I see her...She had commented one day that we didn't sit next to her in Physics. She chose to sit on the row next to us, and a seat further up. But, she made the comment, and we were like, "well come back here! There's a desk right here." She said she liked being in front, so the guy that sits behind her offered to move back a seat. She just scoffed and in this really smart-ass tone of voice said "Why?...All they ever do is talk about Angel..." I just stared at her, and my other friend said "...fine....whatever..." As far as Angel goes, *I* don't talk about it 24/7. It just so happens that Smile Time had just aired the night before, and me and our other friend are fans, and she's not. She's all with the "Ya'll are so distant"...If she would just get her mind off of men and other stupid stuff...

K...I think I've babbled long enough...

sometimes i get sick of my friend so i ditch her sometimes,i know thats not the nicest thing to do but like shes quiet and im really loud so lunch is really fun when shes not there

Erm... I used to have this friend called Donna. We were like best friends for 3 years or something. We hung around together at school, went out at night, went shopping together, phoned each other every day. We were never apart. Then it got to 6th year, and I got chosen to be a prefect with my friend Pauline. Donna applied but didn't get it. So she started getting really moody and things... saying that we would just ditch her and make friends with other prefects. Nothing I would say would change her feelings and she really started to get annoying. She would phone me at night and just moan about not being prefect. So I started tell my parents to tell her I wasn't in. I couldn't be bothered listening to the same thing day after day. She started working at McDonalds and made some new friends there... so I would only see her at school. Then she made friends with this girl on the school bus... and started telling her personal things about my past and stuff. This girl, Sian I think it was, told my friend Cheryl that she'd been told some things about me that she thought she shouldn't really know. So then that got to me and I almost killed Donna. I was shaking with anger the next time I saw her and had to leave in order to calm down. I didn't want to get in trouble for punching her or something. Anyway, that's my story.

This happens to me every now and then....well, the big one was in high school when my best friend "stole" my boyfriend. But that's an extreme case.

I have to best friends-Joy and William. Joy occasionally gets holier than thou because she's an EMT and saved lives and I sit at an office chatting about Angel all day 😉. I understand that she feels important and with a past like she has had, I nurture it, but occasionally she takes it too far. At a time when me and my hubby weren't doing too well financially, she took alot of pleasure in boasting how SHE would never have to worry about problems like that with HER boyfriend. When she gets like that, I just let her distance herself from me. The same thing happens with William-he gets like hs only has him and his girlfriend and nothing else sometimes and it gets me mad. But rather than get all stressed about it (like I used to) I usually just bow out and let them behave the way they will behave. The three of us (and our significant others) are like family, so I've learned to just let them be my friends when they are ready to be my friends.

oh yeah i got the whole "i have a boyfriend now so i don't need mates situation" so i see her bout once a month now, and she was my best friend from like 3 yrs old so i known her 16 yrs

I've had experiences like that...sometimes my friend can just overreact, start liying and act like she's the best thing ever...so I just get frustrated and leave her to hang round her other friends untill she gets over herself...not the nicest thing I know...but she does annoy me sometimes and act really bitchy 🙁

Oh yeah I know how this goes. I had this friend that I had for like 10 years. She was always annoying and last summer I told her what I finally thought about her and I haven't talked to her since. But sometime people just grow apart, that's what happened with her and I.

This has happened way too many times.

1. My friend Casey told me she had something really important to tell me. "You don't wanna be my friend anymore?", I teased. She said never mind. I stopped being friends with her.
2. My friend Melissa didn't want to come to my birthday party. I later found out it was because she didn't wanna have to invite me to her party.
3. I was friends with these 3 girls and they said they'd be right back and they never came back.

I've had a few cases over the years. The most recently happened today. I'm fallen in with the "popular" crowd and they all seemed really nice when I first met them. However, as we became better friends they showed me who they really are, and I do not like what I see. Not saying that all popular or highly liked people are the assholes like the show on TV, but these guys are. They didn't talk to me or want to stand by me today because I was talking to a girl who was "of a lower social status" and all the time these people tell me "oh don't talk to him/her" because these people are "of a lower social status". I do it anyway and they get mad at me and stop talking to me. I don't judge a person by how popular they are, or what gender, race, or orientation. I judge a person by who they are as a person. Maybe that's what seperates me from the other "popular people". They got so mad at me today and I said "if you're going to get mad at me for talking to another person then I don't need you as friends" and then they got really upset and apologized. I still don't trust any of them though. *shifty eyes*

I always seem to have the worst luck with friends. I've never experienced the "best friend steals boyfriend" thing, but I've had so-called friends steal my stuff and stab me in the back. I wonder, sometimes, if I'm just being too damn picky with my friends...but I don't really think it's that. I have other friends that I don't neccesarilly have a lot in common or agree with thier values, but it doesn't really change anything. I think it's just that my best friend has just become one big jumble of all the things I don't like in people. I guess we are growing apart, at least a little.

I have way too many stories in this thread. I guess I've been bad at picking friends because I could go on for hours.... Where to begin...

This story takes place this year. Me and this girl named Candice were best friends for like two years ever since I started at that school. Well she had this friend named Shannell who didn't go to our school but I met her before. And this year Shannell transfers to my school and I didn't like her because she was one of those "I'm better then you" preps and all so I stopped hanging out with Candice because she turned into Shannel number two. Well Shannell and Candice and this group of other snot heads popularity starts to boost and the next thing I know they like run the school. Well me and Candice started talking and laughing and we become friends again and one day I was sitting in class and Candice comes in with tears running down her face and come to find out her and Shannell were kicked outta school. Which I couldn't have been happier because I can't STAND Candice anymore. Well now Candice cathes her bus at my school and she's always there when I get there in the mornings and she always walks up to me and hugs me and says "Hi" and says "I wuv you sissy" and I just say "I know" and I think she knows that I hate her.

I admit I feel bad for it because she was like my sister for the past two years and I wish I could have that friendship back but I never could cause I couldn't trust her.

I even called her a back stabbing biotch and she STILL hangs on me.... ::disturb:

I get sick of my friends all the time. They are so self-conscience and so spoiled it's almost discusting. My bff just got a new jag convertable for no reason at all. She doesnt even have her liscense yet! Then they ask me why I want a job so badly. They can be cool sometimes, but yeah.

I'm going through that right now, and in the past xtrust.
probably about 7 years ago, I met my former best friend. She was really cool then, and we always hung out. But she was a control freak. I was able to tolerate her because I was able to talk to her about things that no one I could with no one else. For awhile, I didn't mind it..I had my first friend who was kinda like my sister, and then a couple of years later, she began making new friends, and so did I. (because I wasn't in all of her classes, so I could break away from her control freak-ness) Anyway, I met back up with my friend from Kindergarden (then we were best friends and hadn't talked for a few years, and boom, we hit it off really well again.) Well, my so called best friend, Rachel, decided she didn't like me hanging out with other people. I guess she felt I wasn't paying attention to her or something, even though I'd invite her to eat lunch with us, and she'd say no, and all kinds of stuff, can't remember them all, but anyway, I guess one day Rachel went up to my other friend, Amy and told her to stay away from me, that I was her friend and not Amy's friend. Well, Amy tells me this, and I the headstrong person I am, won't deal with that, so I pretty much told her that if I couldn't have other friends, then her, then we didn't deserve to be friends. Well, haven't talked to her since. *shruggs*

Currently, one of my best friends, because of our Buffy links, my group of 6 people call ourselves the "Scooby Gang" well, one of gang has started to break away from the rest. It all started this year, and she became obsessed with band. Then it was all "Oh, so and so from band, and this person from band, and that person from band..." and so on and so on. I'm really worried about her, because Our group used to be close-knit. I mean, one fell down, you had 5 other people to catch you. We always had eachother's back, and could tell eachother anything without feeling stupid or something. I dunno, we were just really close and really understood eachother. And now, I feel like I barely know her. I feel like it's my fault though, because I had sensed there was something wrong for months before, and go so fed up with her "friend of convince" that I just stopped answering the phone when she called and stuff, and I'm starting to wonder if she drifted away because of something else that's going on. Anyway, it's gotten worst, and she's starting to hang with the party crowd, skipping classes (which is unusual for her) I know her grades have majorly slipped, and I can't trust her to do anything in a group project. I mean, we're supposed to turn in a final draft to our one act plays, and I made the final draft because I'm afraid she's not going to do it. that thought wouldn't have crossed my mind a year ago. Anytime we call her on it though, she gets defensive and closes us off.

Can't say that I had such a situation recently, but it's mostly coz I don't let people to get to know me that good to be able to say they're my friends...

My experience isn't so much that we started disliking each other but we'd spent too much time in each others company and we drifted apart.

It was about 4 years ago. We'd been best friends for about 5 years. We were really close, we hardly ever argued and we had a laugh. Her boyfriend died in a car accident and she took it really bad. She more or less started living at my house because her house reminded her too much of her boyfriend. It was like that for months. After that we just didn't see each other that much and we stoped phoning each other all the time and then it just stopped all together.
