I commented about this on another thread: I just started reading ATF, but I'm finding myself so distracted... by BOOBIES!! My Gawd!! I don't remember Nina looking like that! Gwen, yeah, she dressed that way, but Nina? And I haven't even gotten to the Kate parts yet, but all those other females, it's the same thing. While I haven't always liked Georges Jeanty's art in Buffy season 8, at least he & Jo Chen didn't do that.

I know, I know, it's the comics & everything, but I find it distressing that Whedon would agree to that depiction.

LOL!!! Nina was a cutie in real life.
I honestly was not paying that much attention to that type of stuff, I was more into the dragon and the hottness of Angel and how detailed everything is. But now you made me interested and I need to go back and check it out. 😀

EDIT: I just went back and looked at them and I must say, Dear God, how did I not notice that before? That is in no way realisic. I mean they are all just so huge! I agree with you how/why did Joss agree with that?

LOL- I know, right?
I don't think Joss approved the art. He and Brian Lynch worked out the outline then Brian wrote the script and Joss went back to Buffy and other projects. I doubt that he had any more involvement and saw the art until he read the finished issue. I can't recall where I had that source saying how involved he was. No mention of him looking at art from what I remember.

And Franco Urru draws all women like that, from what I recall. I love his art, but I agree on disliking when he creates curves where there were none in "RL".

It's one thing to do it for new original characters, but if there are actresses and actors (they got muscle-y if I recall correct) as reference, I don't get the point.

But every artist have their style, and I can live with it.

I don't read ATF, but yeah, they always do that. Willow for example is completely flat, but in the Buffy comics... when did THEY come from??

no she ain't *pouts* real Willow has nice, small curves... which are fraking HUGE compared to Fred's, for example. :D
I might have to go back and take a look.. cant remember if I even read them in the first place now that I mention it. I think I did. Was that the one with the fish? Oh yeah. I did I think. I never noticed any gratuitous mammaries on display.

To quote Lara Flynn from MiB2 "Anyone could take over the place with the right set of mammary glands."

Chosen Enemy- season 8 has got nothing on Angel ATF in terms of breast space!!

Seriously? What if Willow were in ATF? lol

Well, clearly a man's work trying to drive in more men. This might become a "hide it from the little children" comic. And not because of the monsters.

Exactly LOL! I keep looking over my shoulder, making sure my 10 year old doesn't see it LOL.

realistic indeed

I haven't read the entire comic yet, but Franco Urru draws Willow in the 8 issue Spike comic. I think he had her on a cover too, if you're patient enough to google it and find it. I can't recall if he made her "big" on the cover, but it wouldn't suprise me if she was a bit big.

Nina though, when I think about it, had big ones on the show. Could be why she's so big breasted in the comic.

That's a little unfair. Maybe he just likes to draw curves? And we see both Angel & Spike shirtless and "pumped". Seems to appeal to both sexes.

The female curves in ATF are certainly ridiculous (though I think same goes for Btvs s8) I mean all the ladies suddenly look worse than Barbie. I mostly find if funny though, because it looks so silly when you have real life actors to compare it to 🙂

and oh, this is a Joss quote back from when Fray was the hot new property (from "The genius behind Buffy")

”And all the girls are wearing nothing and they all look like they have implants. Well I sound like a very old man, and a cranky one, but it's true”
- Joss Whedon

Yes she did. But she never dressed like that on the show. She was an artist for godssake! I do agree with your comment about appealing to both sexes, especially with some of the Spike images in #2.

True, that outfit was ridicolous. You should see what Kate wears in Aftermath.

Well, they are pretty "pumped", as opposed to the curved ladies who aren't really curved. And they are shirtless sometimes (the guys). So even though I agree that it applies to both sexes that thing, and I'm not saying it doesn't, still the ladies' bodies in the comics aren't realistic, while the shirtless and pumped guys are.

I would have to look at screenshots from season 5 of Angel & spike and compare it to the comics to be able to agree with you or not. Which doesn't exactly sound like a bad thing per see...
