Heh, well i think if you read a little closer you'll understand that i was just merely instructing what i think the industry should do using a cynical approach due to my abhorrence for it. Can't see how that results in a lack of understanding, more than anything my disdain means i've got a greater understanding of it.
 
i'm sure the music indusry's glad to have your insruction.

so its the music industry and all involved with it you abhor not the music itself?or do you abhor the music because of the system that created it?or the system because of the music?

Yeah, well there has to be a balance... it's the industry it promotes and the system behind it; the way success is gained through advertisement, mass media, profitisation goals and the fact that people who are musically gifted aren't acknowledged due to that system and the way they control, dictate and corrupt what we are able to listen to on the airwaves AND now in our homes. Example, that Elvis mix/single released was actually taken off the shelves, so those pop idol guys could take it off the No.1 chart spot... hmm, how nice of them. F***ers!

I mean it's all corporation-led now and pop music, well it just exploits the ideals i have of what's fair and unfair to musicians. It's very much a family hierarchy, from the media giants Universal, it's many record companies like Polydor, the A&R guys, the media companies tied with the advertisement agencies who then pick the pop groups like cattle for the slaughter to use and represent as a false family for them; who are told what to do, what not to do, how to express themselves, gain publicity, pretty much anything to keep you in line for the bigger picture the exec's and director's are hiding, level 117 and behind the water despenser and scantily-clad secretary.

The pop industry is just such a quicksand, all numbers and demographics ... they don't care about people no more, they don't care about the music, only aslong as it sells. For that reason, the pop industry, a.k.a popular, to sell en mass is something i simply can't relate with.
 
4th week of its no.1 reign jxl/elvis sold 55,000 .gareth gates sold 112,000 in its first week.
paranoia, the man is out to get you!(canabis is bad 4 you don't you know😉 )
 
So it was a big fix then, Charles Gunn, i mean for Gareth to knock Elvis of the top spot??? apparently BMG withdrew Elvis from sale in order for Gareth gates to get the top spot. does anyone feel that its Gareth who's recieving the "pop idol" treatment and not the real winner Will?
 
gareth would have been top anyway.they didn't withdraw elvis they deleted it.there's still plenty of copies in the shops just no new ones made.as for the pop idol thing i think will is just keeping more of a low profile and trying to build his career .probably a wise idea if he wants any longevity.

I hate Unchained Meldoy! MY God how many times has that been covered! - this whole Pop Idol hype i don't like - lol - if Gareth came out with that song when people did know him he would have never have gotten to number one and stayed there for 4 weeks and his second single its only because people know him and have seen him become a popstar that they love him so much. well thats what i think - same with Will although i think Gareth is more of a "pop" idol that Will. Didn't Will only win because the phone lines were jammed for Gareth so no one could get through while Wills lines we just unjammed? somthing like that.
lol - anyway like now Darius has a song out and no offense to anyone i mean he wrote it himself and stuff like that but theres Britany and Will Smith ( i think ) who are probably going to take the no 2 and 3 spots because people are buying his single beause they know him from Pop Idol. Half of those people wouldn't like that song if they didn't know him before hand. No Offense.
Well i don't think any of that made sense so i am gonna go now.....
 
I think people can do good covers if it suits them, but if a band/singer has a really personal song, or a really distinct sound, then it's not likely to work very well as a cover. For instance i love the red hot chili peppers song "under the bridge" but hated the all saints cover, but i suppose I'm pretty biased there, mind you who isn't when it comes to music their really into, to me music always seems better if there's something behind it, a story, something to express
 
oh and look what Will and gareth have cover now "the long and winding road" by the beatles!!!!!! god i thought they had an excellent songwriting team behind them or thats what they were supposed to have anyway! where have they gone????
