I always truly detested slasher flicks, lol. I'm not one that thrives on blood and guts sensory overload I guess...it's not a moral objection, just a temperment kinda thing.
I wonder if for some, it's partly about bonding, communal experiences. A hazing sort of deal. You go to the theater with your friends just see how much you can take. Dunno.
Two genres I really need to see with other people to fully enjoy: comedies and horror movies. For me, they require more interaction with others as I'm watching them. You want to scream and laugh together, maybe talk as you're viewing them. Dramas, fantasies...I can watch those alone and just fall into that world...
