It's not the shows themselves that get me. It's the people. The shows usually try to throw every demoghaphic they can in there, but the people are always so mean and rude, and just horrible human beings...and that's just all of them. It's just depressing to me. Anyone else?

The only one I watch is The Bad Girls Club and being mean and rude is kind of a requirement to be on the show. I watch because these girls are so rude.

thats the ONLY reality show i watch. love it!
mmm i get what you mean, but i suppose i'm weird 'cause i like that sort of thing. I like seeing the way people react on tv and how they act to certain things, emotions etc.. People confuse me in general, so i'm always interested to see what other people are like.
Sounds rather creepy and pathetic and that i haven't ever left the house? 😀
lmfao! scrap that 😛

That show is just a bunch of 20-something-year-old whores living in a mansion with tons of alcohol and criminal records. Each episode someone gets in a fight, has sex with a stranger, or gets sent home for breaking the rules.....I LOVE IT!! I mean, I know I'm watching trashy TV when I'm watching it, but it is entertaining. Lea from this season is a punk though, they all pretty much were when it came to actual violence. They stepped it up at the reunion show tho so they could get their last 15 minutes of fame in.

Jersey Shore. Don't get me started. I didn't start watching until the end of season two. Mostly because I'm originally from the jersey shore and I'm moving back there within the next eight months. So, it's grossly misrepresented. If you go to Seaside clubs, that is who you will encounter. But if you to to places like Manasquan (my home town), Belmar, Point Pleasant, Cape May you won't find people like that. And the show misrepresents Italians as well. I mean yea guidos exist but all Italians (I'm 50%) don't act like that. The cast says "oh we're just kids down the jersey shore, it has nothing to do with being italian" it's like well then why is the shape of new jersey painted on your front door in the colors of the italian flag???

American Idol used to be the big one. I haven't watched the last one and a half seasons. But, I know the ratings are dropping and they're scrambling to stay on top (IE: new judges, format, etc). But I think the show is dead in the water. Last season's winner, Lee Dewyze, opened with only 39,000 in sales and then dropped almost off the chart the next week. Every other winner except Kris (kelly, ruben, fantasia, carrie, taylor, jordin, david) have sold over 200,000 their opening week and have had platinum, if not multiplatinum cds.

I think reality shows in general have just lost their touch with reality. It's not so much about life anymore as much as it is doing stuff for ratings. And I agree how the cast is sad. Like the "love" shows. Those poor women will do anything (sex with flavor flav???? ewwww) to stay on the show.

Lea changed. I was on the "Lea is the same and she's cool" boat until they went to Key West. Then she got insane. Then after that when she started breaking shit because she wanted something to happen... I was like "wow, this is pathetic, where's the really awesome chick we knew?" It bothered me. And Erica is who I really think of for the 15 minutes of fame thing... how pathetic was she at the reunion?

Nothing will beat season 3 and The Ambers though. In my opinion, the show was cool season 1, weird as hell season 2, awesome season 3, what the bananas?! season 4, and season 5 was all about sending people home. I hope 6 brings it back up... I'll keep watching even if it doesn't because it's fun to see these women freak out on each other... but I really loved getting attached to the people and getting to know them like we did in the first three (sort of four) seasons. This season had WAY too many people go home.

The seasons with the Ambers was just a mess. All those girls in the Fab 5 were just crazy, especially Alia. I think that season two and season four was definitely the best.

I totally missed this when writing my reply. there was a convention a while back where someone asked James if he wasn't happily engaged if he would do one of those reality dating shows and he said "Well... see it would have to be something like 'James Marsters cribbin' the hoes! and they would defecate on the stairs and humiliate themselves for my attention." I always think of that when someone talks about those shows.

The Fab 5 were just crazy especially Alia and Boston... But I loved the Ambers more than words can describe. Particularly Amber M.

Question: what do you like about season 4.... it annoyed me

I've seen Jersey Shore on MTV, and yeah wtf, but apparently because of how popular that show became some idiots here tried to do a Swedish version of the show.. how embarrassing is that.

I don't really watch reality shows, it does make me depressed.. I like Top Chef though ..

yea they have a season of it in canaday now. lake something or other lol
The only reality TV shows that I think are really trashy are the ones they show on MTV, especially Jersey Shore. I don't get how the the "stars" on that show aren't embarassed with their antics, especially that Snooki girl. I'm a Celebrity... in the UK is another trashy reality show I cannot stand, it makes me glad I'm just normal and not a desperate has been celebrity looking for a career revival.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I watch some of them every once and awhile and I start to think 'what is with these peoples lives'. They're spending their lives wasted in front of a camera and everyone's horrible and so are their lives. There's loads of swearing and stuff like that. I don't know how to describe it but it just does, as you say, depress me. Sigh.

The only thing that truly depresses me is the fact that these types of shows get green lit all the time, then thrive and multiply, while some REAL shows get tossed down the toilet.

A lot of people don't want to watch this reality boolshyte. If I want to watch the type of behavior depicted on those so-called shows, I'll just open my door and go out on the street.

They really do depress me. They only show how people are stupid, who enter and who watch. Like Big Brother.. they've managed to lock I don't know how many people in one house and convince the public to vote and spend their money for people they don't really know.. I don't know are the creators too intelligent or are we too stupid?

I'm not actually a big fan of reality shows, i just don't mind them. (tbh i only watch the fun ones)(mostly the cheesy american ones) like Jerseyshore. Maybe a little of Bigbrother back in the day :') but i really don't care about them literally, they're just there. If i'm bored and it's on tv then yes. Do i need to watch every episode? Hell no.

Reality shows are so incredibly fake. Most of them are scripted to the 'T'. They're just annoying. I can show you reality, but it's not entertaining, it's just life.

OM has really said it all.

The only reality show I still watch is Project Runway because that is actually interesting and more than people being horrible to each other (oh, of course they're also horrible to each other but it doesn't overshadow the fashion most of the time. Also, Tim Gunn.)

I feel your pain. If they would actually cast REAL people instead of people who intentionally play up different sides of their personalities (or just flat out ACT like someone else), it would be different, but these "reality" shows just cast people who play toward a stereotype or demographic and it pisses me off.
Anyone else old enough to remember the very first season of MTV's "The Real World"?? Back before it became about who was hooking up with who and who could get the most camera time?? Those were the days.

For me it entirely depends on the show. For instance I really enjoy Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and a big reason for that is because they kinda remind me of my crazy family (especially my two sisters and I). But I know that it is a crap show, I just happen to like it that way. lol

The only reality shows I used to enjoy was the Real World, Road Rules, and Real World/ Road Rules Challenge. now all we have is this Jersey shore crap, 16 and Pregnant...really people?

Reality TV shows suck now. I'd rather have Caleb gouge out my eyeballs than watch this crap.

LMFAO AMEN to that!! I used to love the RW/RR Challenges!
I love reality t.v. shows. I don't watch any of them religiously, but they're quite entertaining when I happen to catch them.
