Do UK shrimp have a drug problem?

A study carried out by scientists from King's College London and the University of Suffolk tested the exposure of wildlife like freshwater shrimp to different micropollutants at 15 different sites in the county of Suffolk.

Scientists were surprised to find illicit drugs in samples in rural England, with cocaine found in all samples tested and ketamine also widespread. "Such regular occurrence of illicit drugs in wildlife was surprising," Leon Barron from King's College London said in a press release. "We might expect to see these in urban areas such as London, but not in smaller and more rural catchments."

They agree that urban shrimp they expected to have drug problems but were surprised to see in the the rural area. It begs the question, why do shrimp like cocaine so much?

Really? How dumb! Of course the Shrimp will have mutated from the normal size given the amount of radioactive fallout from Chernobyl affected the Shrimps ancestors. Are the Wally's at CNN so surprised that Shrimp are soaking up all the cocaine they can? That's what you get from reading the tweets from D. Trump why would they report the story.

I can see it now - cartel shrimp boats in the UK running up and down the rivers. I wonder if there will be fentanyl shrimp in the future.

How about a TV Series of a drug cartel owning a fleet of Shrimp catching boats then the Tinning factory where Shrimp are dissected for the cocaine. Add in some advancement in boats that don't use diesel engines.

I read this the other day and almost posted it here haha. Some in my family will only eat aussie prawns but I am SURE ours would be full of meth and meds. I mean, the water already is. Maybe that's why Christmas is always so manic - too many prawn cocktails!

Maybe cartel three-masted schooners sailing up and down the rivers. That would be a challenge for a sailor.

I wonder what flag the ships would fly, if it were the Jolly Roger would it be the red or black. Also I doubt if the cartel would fork out for a slurp of rum for the sailors, besides the sailors being on a three masted schooner, having those sailors appear to be three sheets to the wind wouldn't be the best look when it came time to tack against the winds.
