I was thinking about the vamps Buffy kills and ancient ones like Darla and Angelus. It seems, in my opinion, that the older vamps are harder to kill (remember Dracula?). But shouldn't it be the other way around? I mean, like how people evolve and advance in just about everything, shouldn't vampires?

I think that older vamps like Angelus and Darla are smarter so a bit harder to kill than newer ones, and maybe the vamps that are quick made (basically all the teen age vamps from season one and two) are probably lower quality and not as strong. The Master and Dracula may have been a different species than human to start with I mean the master looked similar to the uber-vamps like he was in between human and whatever they are, somehow.

Vampires do evolve, when they become older and older they start to become more Bat-like.

But the reason why older vamps are harder to kill is because well they have had more practice, they have had 100s of years of fighting and surviving. Plus the whole immortal thing keeps them youthful and if they have the regular amount of blood it keeps up their streangth. As to a newly made vamp who is usually very stupid since they are like a newly born baby and have to learn how to morph into vamp face, turn someone into a vampire and etc..
