How exactly Angel was brought back? Yeah we know Buffy brought her ring and put it down but what did that do?
Or was it the PTB?
 
Not too sure actually. I believe it may have been under the circumstances of his death. Acaltha didn't have room for him or something. There will be a logical explanation somewhere but I honestly don't care for that storyline so I'm dumb to it.
 
Did it have something to do with The First? Would The First have the power to bring him back? (Because in Amends, The First said that Angel was brought back "for a purpose".. it wanted to use him as an instrument against Buffy).
 
Most people choose to believe that it was either The Powers that Be, because they knew he was going to be a powerful champion for them one day, or The Senior Partners of Wolfram and Hart, who hoped he'd be on their side.
 
I doubt it. The First wouldn't be able to bring people back because they would then bring back people they could use against Buffy. Not take a useless go-through-able form. lol
 
and there was magically a portal back to sunnydale, that happened to be right where he came in? i dunno, i think something or someone had to make that portal open. we learn in the buffyverse, it usually takes rather strong magicks to open a portal to another dimension, they don't just exist... so i think yeah, either PTB or Wolfram & Hart. both make sense.
 
I always thought there was something mystical and ceremonial about Buffy placing the ring in the spot he died that brought him back... Like maybe she was doing a spell and didn't even realize it, you know?
 
I always thought that it was the first after the whole "brought back for a reason". Since Angel was in a hell dimension but had a soul, the first might have been able send him back some how. Angels soul belonging on earth might have been the key to opening a portal, and once the first figured it out, he might have done it.

Either that or it was the powers that be.
 
Thinking of it it was most likely TPTB. Or someone that needed Angel back, maybe someone that foretold something that would happen in the Angel show era. And Angel was needed to fight and stop it.

It was most likely TPTB. But wouldn't they bring him back in a non crazy way? I mean would it effect how he came back if TPTB done it? Surely they wouldn't bring him back if he was crazy, because there was no way of them knowing he wouldn't stay in a rabid form forever were there?.
 
The First claimed to have done it, but really there is no solid explanation for it. Its actually one thing I'm a little disappointed in the writers for. Angel just appearing back and getting over his madness over a period of about an episode and a half was just too....easy.
 
I saw it as TPTB for a bit but essentially its sci-fi bollx that didnt matter as long as they got him back in the show (okay not a sci-fi show but you know that those shows do it all the time and we as viewers are to accept it all so the plot can move forward)
 
You mean Buffy isn't a Science Fiction show? Contrary to popular belief I'd say it was. I mean it makes Science Fiction show polls/debates/magazine covers for a reason.

Since it started ive had the discussion to whether it was and then an old friend basically went "look at my star trek vids" (this was years ago) "that is sci-f, buffy is a fantasy show"

whatever it is, its the best. show. ever.
 
In angel season four they claim is was because of Jasmine but that's obviously something they made up on the spot to make it look like they had been planning the Jasmine character for ages. 🙄
 
I always assumed it was the First; made the most sense and it was even scripted that way. I thought after Amends there would be no question as to why. Then in subsequent seasons when the First did to Spike what Angel would not allow, I thought any lingering doubts would have been removed. The First brought Angel back.
 
I always see Sci-Fi/Fantasy as the same thing. After all all Sci-Fi shows have elements of Fantasy and vice versa.
