Do we sound crazy?

I was talking to a friend of mine and she was telling me how certain groups of people seem to have their own language. For instance, she and her friends were playing chess for fun when members of the chess club start watching the game and talking about terms that you wouldn't understand if you didn't know some things about chess. To the modern observer, what they're talking about sounds absolutely crazy 'cause they're obsessing over where to stick a chess piece...

I'm wondering, to someone who doesn't know what 'Buffy' and 'Angel' are, do we sound insane? I hear everyone going on and on about why
Spike can sit in a chair if he's a ghost
and shanshus and who Buffy loves and werewolves and the Initiative... This all sounds so normal here! I just wanted to post that...
 
Slayerangel you are right on with that one. Before I became an avid Buffy watcher, Rayne used to talk about it all the time and I would have no clue whatsoever about what she was talking about. It went in one ear and right out the other.
 
Usually people just ignore me when I talk about a new 'Angel' ep or go on about 'Buffy'... they just roll their eyes and couldn't care less that
Spike's suddenly a ghost now...
 
To go all Star Trek on ya , slayerangel, those who don't understand are not of the body. I have a good friend who absolutely will not watch Buffy, even though I've offered to load my DVDs. Has no trouble understanding me, but still doesn't know where the Buffy-speak comes from...
 
My best friend once refused to watch 'Angel' 'cause she tried watching it and didn't understand a thing after hearing me talk about'Angel' all the time... goes in one ear and out the other...

She likes 'Buffy' and I'm trying to get her interested in 'Angel' now that it reruns on TNT...
 
my friends think i'm nut(btvs and ats aren't too popular in argentina)...i talk to 'em and they look at me like ''did ya eat your pill?,you're ill''.my bedroom is full of wallpapers and pics,my brothers say i'm a little crazy,but i'm not...well,dunno,for me it's normal...
 
My friends couldn't care less for 'Buffy' or 'Angel',but I'm ok with it.
They say I use silly words too
 
well,i speak to 'em in spanish,so it's different,i don't use silly words,not a lot of options...and anyway,tehy don't care...
 
I can't explain "sire", either! At least there's a word for "vampire", only the Vietnamese stole it from the French language... How do you explain the word "staked" or "dusted" in Vietnamese?
 
I can't tell you how many times a week I get told that I need a life or that I am twisted with my Buffy obsession...EVERYTHING reminds me of it and I swear I think about it more than a 16 year old boy thinks about sex...and THAT is pretty scary...so yes...I think we are creepy to people like most look at Trekies and such...

Chas...good to know that you were blowing me off most of the time...well all I have to say is: HA! HA! HA! It bit you in the ass didn't it! 😉 😛
