Do you believe in miracles?

Well, assuming that this is a serious question, I have to say no, I don't. I want to say yes; I really, really do, but I just can't bring myself to believe in miracles.
You know what I believe in though? I believe in people. I believe, despite all the crap in the world, in our capacity for good. I believe that we have it in us to make the world better than it is. Maybe that's our miracle.

Also, I do believe in miracles. Miracles are occurrences with a very slim possibility of coming to pass and we hear about them all the time. People becoming well after suffering with supposedly terminal illess, people falling 20,000 feet without a parachute and all they do is break is an arm and kill the duck they land on, a child comes out of a coma when their mother sings to them. There are roughly 7 billion people on Earth so strange and unlikely things are bound to happen. I'd like to think that there's some divine or mystical intervention involved, but I think it's just probability.

Hmmmmmm This is a question that will be asked a lot throughout our lives. and it, to me is like being asked if you believe in god and jesus.

Yes but I think it depends on what you class a miracle as being. Personally I think miracles happen every day. We are alive, nature is a beauty as well as a beast and science is amazing too. I think humans take a lot for granted these days and should sometimes focus on the smaller miracles of life to appreciate what they have not what they can't or don't have. Make any sense?

I don't know why, but when I saw this thread, I immediately thought of Pulp Fiction's "divine intervention" scene. If I ever survived bullets like that, I'm having a big smile on my face every single freaking day. 😉

To be truthfully honset no I don't believe in miracles, I use to! But nope I think to be honset is we control what happens in the world and some people use that gift for wrong reasons this world could be a better place if we didn't have sick people.
But sometimes I do think things happen for a reason, but sometimes I don't I look on Facebook and there's people who treat others like horrid having a good time and the people who are actually nice are suffering.
We control what we do, I really wish miracles were true and that I can believe in them.

I had a long debate about this before lol.
Yes in a way,i do. I don't believe much in all that talk of chance and statistics or it was "just a coincidence". I've seen a lot of these T.V shows where people who really had no right to live after what had happened,have come out fine and well, when you are looking at it being a once in a life time thing, what's to say,to that person, that it isn't a miracle. Miracle is a very hard thing to define, to some who go through life,they may never experience such things, but that doesn't mean they do not exist or happen.
I remember a few details of what one of my old teachers was telling our class about 13 years ago now. He and a friend were fixing a car and they didn't notice it had a fuel leak,one of them was smoking and you can guess the rest, explosion sent them flying with my old teacher getting the worst. He was unconscious etc and had the ambulance crew there etc, and he started saying that all of a sudden he was with his mam and dad (who had passed away several years before) and he was saying how they were saying to him he didn't belong here yet and it wasn't the right time, then he woke back up and made a full recovery, from something which in reality, should have killed him.
There are many,many things in the world and universe that certainly in most of our life times,we will never understand. Miracles is one of them.

Actually, the more I think about this question, the more I come back to one thought - and that is that EVERYTHING is a miracle. I mean life.... the world.....the universe..... It's a total miracle!!!!

No, I don't. I'm not denying the possibility, just as I'm not denying the possibility that a "God(s)" (whatever that is) exists. I just don't believe they do. Religion has never been a part of my life, and it probably never will.
Sorry to those of you who believe in the goodness of mankind and that our existence is a miracle, but in my opinion and experience (what I've personally experienced, what others I know have, looking at our history etc) mankind is an evil thing. We are the consumer of worlds. Well technically we're only consuming one planet, but if we had the chance we would surely consume the entire universe. The seven deadly sins are actually the very traits of mankind. That is what makes us human, what makes us different from other animals. We hate, we kill, we hurt, we want what we don't need, we eat more because we can, etc.
Mankind is evil, but there are some people who are capable of doing good.

It all depends on your definition. I believe in miracles as I see them. They just don't have to fit your description. So it's easy to get missunderstandings.
When something that I call miracle happen (I'm with [MENTION=208]Nix[/MENTION]) I don't think of a God or something supernatural. So if your definition of miracle is "Act of God or something supernatural" my answer would be no. In my mind miracles doesn't have to be something "big".
If you go by the opening post and call many days without rain in London and things like it a miracle I hope everyone are believers.

Apart from a couple of drops of rain the event was rain free, that in a country that is renouned for its rain. To me, that is some kind of miracle.

Haha I tell myself that I don't, but sometimes really weirdly perfect things happen to me. I mean things that I have imagined happening, twice in my life, they've actually happened. Like when I met Matthew Gray Gubler at the airport, which was my wish when I blew out my birthday candles (I wasn't specific about the location though haha) 😉
I know it was just a coincidence, but it was awesome. So I believe that sometimes awesome things like that happen, and I guess you can call them miracles, but I don't believe that it's an act of God or anything. I mean why the hell would God make Matthew Gray Gubler miss his flight, just so I'd run into him...when there are people in horrible situations who actually need a miracle? I don't pray, and I certainly wouldn't pray for something ridiculous like that...so I refuse to believe that when cool things like that happen, God is responsible. It's just a coincidence. Coincidences are very cool.

I want to believe in miracles. I think that amazing things are possible and that's all I need to stay positive in life.
In my post, I defined miracle as something of divine or mystical intervention, in which case it is an anti-explanation, because you are saying 'this happened because God/higher power/magic'. But if you're talking miracle as in coincidence, then sure. It's not really something to believe in, per se, because you can't not believe in coincidence any more than you can't not believe in tables.
