True Love. It's a phrase that I assume everyone has heard more than once in their life-time. Here's my question. Do you think that everyone can find that one person out there, and experience that feeling? Another phrase I'm sure that many have also heard is that "There's someone out there for everyone", considering how much it gets passed around as a sentence of comfort.

Considering that I have yet to have an intimate relationship (or any kind for that matter) with another person (Despite my best efforts at it), I can't really say. Do I believe that true love exists? Yes. Do I believe that there's someone out there for everyone? No. If there was truly someone out there for everyone, people wouldn't be alone out there in the world.

Hmm...this is a tough one.

Do I believe in true love? Absolutely. One hundred percent. Is there "someone out there for everyone"? I don't know. I don't think it's a set thing, but at the same time, there are what? Seven billion people on the planet right now? Odds are there is someone out there for you, no matter who you are. The trouble of course, is actually finding that person.

I'll tell you what I do believe. I believe that everyone is capable of true love. That they have the potential, somewhere inside them, to experience it. I don't think everyone finds it, but I think we, collectively as humans, have the ability to reach it.

I know what you're saying though. I'm 22 and haven't had a single relationship in my life, which, to be perfectly honest, is driving me freaking crazy. It's one of those problems that doesn't have a real answer, which, you know, sucks. I know this doesn't really mesh with the whole traditional guy image thing, but I totally want to fall in love. If there's one thing about me, it's passion, which is probably why I love Buffy and Angel so much. I'd love, more than just about anything, to be the Angel to someone's Buffy (except well, you know, the whole going evil thing. Probably best to avoid that), but it's hard.

I know for me, a big part of the problem, and one that I'm trying hard to fix, is that I don't always put myself in situations where I'm open to meeting new people, and when you do that, finding someone special obviously becomes much harder. I have to work at that more than most people, because I can be, according to friends, pretty broody and guarded. But I really do want to find someone I care about and who cares about me (I'm a little far off from true love, so I'm setting my sights a bit lower right now), so I'm doing my best (which may or may not be that great) to put myself in better positions to meet people. I think that makes finding someone romantically more likely, you know?

I honestly believe that half the battle is putting yourself out there, and allowing yourself to be vulnerable. If you isolate yourself or put up a wall, (and you might not even realize that you are, btw), you could be meeting people who are potentially right for you without recognizing it.
Love happens when we allow ourselves to be honest and open with others. That's what I believe, anyway.
I really don't know if there's only one person for everyone. But most importantly, all you need is one. And I think that when a person is ready, he/she is totally capable of finding that. I think it often happens when you're not obsessing over a person but rather open to anything.

Yes, I believe in True Love. I believe that there is someone out that for everyone. Well some people out there that are alone either don't want to be in a relationship (for now, maybe their happy being alone) or they just haven't found the right person.

Everything takes time, it takes time to find the right person. You do have to put yourself out there, deal with a lot of weirdos and the wrong one's to find that one person that completes you and makes you completely happy!

This is a fun one for me because I am both a true cynic and a hopeless romantic. In this case, however, the hopeless romantic wins out. I have felt true love. I have both given it and received it and being in love and being loved are amazing sensations that I hope everyone gets to experience at least once.

go hopeless romantic! :-)
Well there probably is such a thing as true love, and many people get to experience it, but not all. I'm not sure there is that one special person, perhaps, but if you believe that then you pretty much have to accept the whole fate-thing, which I don't really do. But what I'm sure if is that there's someone out there for everyone. To find those people you need to put down a bit of effort, and/or have a bit of luck. 😉

Dude...
I'm in exactly the same position as you, the ONLY thing that differs from what you said about yourself and me is that you're 22 and I'm 19.

I haven't really had a relationship (a serious one). Ever. And just like you I'm not really putting myself in a position where I can find someone, mostly cuz I'm not really that social kind of a person. And **** the macho guy thing, I just want someone to care for, cuz at this moment I basically have no one.

I guess we'll have to bide our time 🙂

Guess so
You know, I've often wondered about this from time to time. Everyone will experience love in their life time. Maybe even for a minute, but you will experience it, of that i am almost sure.

But, what exactly is "true love" how do you define it? Is true love finding that person who when together, you complement each other perfectly? Is it someone who you couldn't be without? I don't think you have to be in a "relationship" to find "true love". It's the same sort of question as "how do i find true happiness?". I've often said to myself that i could go from now at the age of 20, until i die, being by myself, provided i had the small luxuries that made me happy on a daily basis. Books,T.V,DVD's,my Dogs etc. I do believe that in the form of a relationship, true love is also obtainable. It may not happen straight away, could take years. But i do believe that it can be found.

I wouldn't worry at all. At the age of 22 & 19 you are both still VERY young and have your whole lives ahead of you. I don't think you have to stress yourselves out to much over the sort of "right place at the right time" concept. You can meet the right person in any place at any time without having to put yourselves out there to do so. It can be as simple as going to the store for some Milk, you bump into someone, next thing you know you could be in love and never be with anybody else again.

Best advice at all times is to just be yourselves. You could even meet someone online after a while if going out much to all the parties etc isn't what you want to do. Good things come to those who wait!.

See, you had to go all wisdom-ey...
I believe everyone is capable of experiencing true love; but I don't know that I believe everyone does. While I do consider myself a hopeless romantic, it is hard to logically believe that everyone will find their "other half", I mean we live in a world with approximately 7 billion people, what are the odds of finding your true love? Also, just because someone doesn't find someone they consider to be their "true love, other half, soul mate etc." doesn't mean that they wont find someone to spend their life with who will be a great partner.

I agree with what Gum Gnome33 said about needing to be open to the possibly of love for one to find and maintain it. Love can come at odd times and unexpected places, being willing to take a chance on it plays a big role of the outcome of romantic experiences.

Since I'm just starting to come off a slight-sad all the time because I can't seem to get a relationship phase of my life, I can honestly say that I agree with alot of the posts on here, which surprises me.

Can I say that I've met someone who I would like spend alot of time with? No. Do I think she's out there? Possibly.

I like to believe in true love. And I like to believe there is someone (at least one person) out there for everyone. It just takes a little time to find them sometimes. Reminds me of this old song...

I absolutely believe in true love.

When you deeply fall in love with someone and find a intimate connection with someone you know that true love exists.

I had thought that I had been in love with ex boyfriends in the past - but it was only a couple of weeks ago when I realised that although I did love them, I most certainly was not in love with them.

When you know you know, and no matter what your feelings about soul mates and true love it's impossible to run from. Make sure you take every chance you can to appreciate them and love them.
