As in when you're around other people do you use slang and expressions you've gleaned from the show?

For me it's one of the things that made me love the show so much.

*oopsies i hit send too soon.
 
Sometimes I do, but then no one understands me. People look at me with weird expression on their face :/

So I do it only online, with Buffy lovers, for real life I use only Bored now, beer bad and now i'm gonna have serious thoughts all day. I know there was one moments when I said "I'm the dip", just like Cordy did, and people looked at me like I'm a crazy person :/
 
I do, actually way too much. Certain words are part of my daily language now. " wiggins" is a fave of mine. 🙂
 
Alot more now than before, which is very strange lol

I find myself adding -age and-y to the end of words alot.

I tend to favour the -y myself but I have alot of time for the -age too 😉

I find that my inner monologue is in Whedony Speakage (see what I did there 😛) and I think that's why I am actually incorporating it more into my everyday speech. My friends are starting to pickup on it too which brings me profound joy because they have no idea it's Whedon speak. I'm totally converting them and they don't even know it.

Mwahahahaha!

Same here. I think the only time I quoted Buffy in a conversation with people who aren't fans was with my nephew. He said "oh, it's like we're sisters!" so ofcourse I said "with really different hair!" and he didn't get it. Oh well.

I do on occasion.
And I used to live in Sunnyvale (not Sunnydale) so don't think those never got confused when speaking sometimes.

I'd get a "Oh, a Buffy fan are you?".
Which made for some interesting follow-up conversations.
 
I quote Whedonverse characters a lot, but as for speaking their language, not really. 🙂 I'll occasionally say wiggins if I can't think of any other word, but I try really hard not to, lol.
 
I did it even before I watched all of BtVS and Angel, lol.
I guess it's from having watched the series when I was like seven. 😀

But, yeah, I do it a lot. Mostly it's ' I can deal' or anything with deal in it, '___ much?', and 'wigged'. 😛
I use the much thing alot.

Also, Willow says in Fear, Itself 'That is not sanitary', and I used that so much before I rewatched all of Buffy.
I'd also replace sanitary, with healthy or something like that, lol.

I use Bored Now alot too, lol. & I've been adding now to other words 😛

I use the "____ much?" a lot too. And "What is your childhood trauma?!"
I know I do. I use "Bored now" *all* the time. And just phrases like that. Whenever I'm lazy I tell my friends, "I'm an old fashioned girl. I was raised to believe the women have the babies and the men dig up the corpses."

But, like a lot of people, I just use general talkiness of Joss. I make nouns into adjectives and adjectives into nouns and sometimes just leave sentences unfinished in a finished way (It's just so... so!) And my friends that actually watch say I have a lot of mannerisms of Willow, who I do attempt to channel, but a lot of it is unconscious, too.

The fact that you used the word "talkiness" totally supports everything you just said lol. I love it
I love it! ha ha Yep, especially when I watch Buffy a lot. I feel like I do the -y thingy a lot too....most of the time people just look at me funny....and then I just snicker inside and think I must be insane....insanely AWESOME!!!
 
When I speak informal English, I can do that. These days most of my English conversations are formal conversations with other people who, like me, has English as a second (or even third) language. Then I need to keep my English as straightforward as possible.
 
English is not my mother tongue. I am greek so I don't get to use English in my every day life or "buffy slang" except when I am talking in english with my friends for fun or for some reason.

I used "five by five" and no one knew why!:biggrin3: And generally whenever I talk about Buffy and trying to explain to my non-Buffy friends why and how Angel lost his soul they can not stop giggling!:confused2: I sometimes online I would put the -y in the ending of some words. And lately I use the "cookie analogy" a lot!!!:biggrin3:

"Like a steeltrap" while tapping my head is a fave
adding -y and making up my own abbreviations is also a favorite.

Once I even used the line "or I'll plop out your ribcage and wear it as a hat" (to very effective results I might add)
