I'm a fan of stereotypes, I know they can't describe everyone, but I do believe there that there can be a trend about a certain group of people.

So I was wondering do any of you fit into a stereotype?

Irish people get associated with being quick tempered, which I am.

Another is we get associated with Alcohol, for some reason some people seem to think of that as a bad thing, but it's my favorite stereotype, I actually carry a big bottle of vodka around with me in the boot of my car at all times for 'party emergencies', lol.

Well, I'm German and I like beer. Or any kind of alcohol for that matter, but beer = German, right? Stereotype right there. Especially today xD I also am a girl and like glitter-y stuff.

Except for being a stereotypical nutcase, I think I'm nothing if not odd-man-out unusual. 😀

I'm ruining a perfectly good cultural stereoptype, I know! :p
Well, I say "bloody" a lot. And we English people are supposed to, right?

One I don't fit is the tea stereotype. I hate tea. Nasty.

I'm the typical punctual German. I'm actually not that bad, in Germany I think I'd be totally normal, but living in the Netherlands, I just really seem overly punctual. Apparently, I can be a real pain in the butt when we're meeting someone at a specific time or expected to be somewhere, and I drill everybody to hurry up.
And, like all the Germans abroad, I keep telling everyone that Germany is the only country with REAL bread 😛

On my Russian side I have the typical vodka love. And in general I do have the reputation to be drunk a lot...which might also be part of the stereotypical college student.

Which brings us to that...well I definitely sleep til noon about every day, I never study, I drink a lot, like parties and am totally immature....

And I do have some very girly traits. I like my dresses, talk alot (including gossip, and discussing guys), have a thing for any colour in the red to purple range.

Well I'm Irish, I love my booze, I get angry pretty quickly and I swear like a sailor. Do sailor's swear a lot, is that a stereotype!? Where I fall down is that I'm not very religious, don't have a lot of children ( I hope!) and I'm not a big fan of spuds, aka potatoes.

I'm a fanatic Whedon-fan who gets all upset if someone who claims to be a Buffy/Whedon fan hasn't seen Firefly. Does that count? 😛

I read in a list somewhere that you're suppose to say "Firefly? Never heard of it?" to piss us Whedonites off.

dude, what this firefly thing you're talking about? :D
I'm a Croatian, but sometimes, I don't act like one. We are people who love their country, because of our past, well, we got it in a very hard way, our independance. But a lot of times, I don't see a beauty of this country, and most of the times I act like a real American, as I always wanted to be 🙂

Huh, you know, I've been thinking about ALL of the many different stereotypes out there, and I really don't fit into any of them. I'm not the classical "Obese" American, I'm not an emo/prep/nerd/wannabe, I'm not the "Dumb Blonde", I'm not angsty, I'm not boy crazy... Interesting.

I suppose that I fit into the stereotype that us Americans have that teen American girls all wear size zero pants and have blonde hair. 😛 (Although I'm NOT anorexic and I DON'T dye my hair)

well I'm not sure about Swedes in general but Stockholmers are usually viewed as quite reserved and kind of blasé people. I definitely embody that.
Also I am a good drinker, though now that I think of it that might be more stereotypically Finnish.

Whoa. Reading over this thread, I never knew that so many people are drinkers/alcoholics. Huh. Just don't forget guys, alcohol is a toxic drug, it is destroying your liver/pancreas, and creating ulcers in your intestines and stomach. So drink safely, everybody.

That's all. :biggrin3:

You're very right in your warning, but also remember hun, drinking once in a while does not equal alcoholic :)

Thanks for the warning...?
Another Paddy reporting for duty 😉

I drink, but not very often, although when I do have a few pints I tend to go ape with it and more often than shall find me dancing lol I may not be a frequent drunk but when I am, I'm a happy drunk!

I absolutely have a temper but I rarely ever act on it.

I curse like a sailor but I tend to take the Tommy Tiernan approach with this and say that the English language doesn't suit my Irish soul, in fact it is like a brick wall between me and the rest of the world...so I use "F%^k" as my chisel😉 😛

There's nothing more I love then a singsong.

I'd be fairly superstitious as the Irish are notoriously known for.

I may forgive, but I will never forget. I regard that as a very Irish trait.

"The gift of the gab"-In a book I read once the Irish were described as "Beautiful bullshitters", I definitely agree with that and I think I can pretty much talk my way out of a paper bag if I had too. I'm a chancer, I suppose 😛

I suppose where I let the team down is that I don't have any GAA affiliations, don't play the tin whistle, couldn't Irish dance to save my life and I think Guinness is vile! Oh, and I don't have red hair and freckles either 😛

So, I meet some requirements but not them all.

Forgive/Forget. Part Irish here too. My motto is: Pick one or the other, you can't have both.
I am Greek so I like the traditional greek foods!!! That is, greek souvlaki, tzatziki(I know these sound Greek to you! literally!), I like dancing(except when I am melancholic) and I am really close to my family. Greek people tend to keep their families close, most of the time. Go watch the movie with Nia Vardalos, most of the time it reminds me of greek families! :biggrin3:

When me and friends meet we always hug and kiss each other. I am not saying that foreign people don't do that, but sometimes people from other countries consider Greek to be a little too happy or hugging too much! But we do it cause it makes our hearts feel warm!

And I am the typical Buffy fan of course who will be very mad if someone laughs cause "Buffy" seems like a funny name, or thinks that it is ridiculous because she slays vampires. :biggrin3:

Although I'm not the stereotypical Spuffy gal, I'm probably the stereotypical Buffyverse fan. 😀

I'm Swedish and have IKEA furniture.

LOL, I actually only have ONE piece from IKEA.
I kind of hate that place. it goes on forever, you never find anything and there's too much people. Just thinking about it gives me hives ;P

It is easy to get lost in there. It used to scare me as a kid.
I am...

Bisexual = support GLBTI rights, read Maxim, have a Sports Illustrated calendar, love Katy Perry's "I kissed a girl" song

Animal rights activist = Save the whales/Tree-hugger that gets ragey on Thanksgiving (the turkey massacre) and refers to the meat isle at a supermarket as "the Isle of Death"

vegan = petite, take small bites, gets full easily, prefers organic or I feel toxic

Pagan/Polytheist = yoga, meditate, carry charm bag, say "by the Gods" & "blessed be", revere nature, etc.

Live in Las Vegas = I am a night owl.

I can't think of what racial stereotypes I fall into. I am American and my ethnicity is Mexican, African, Native American, French, and maybe a little Italian.

You live in Las Vegas?? Cool :D

that's awesome, I kind of wish I had a cool ethnicity like you
I listen to independent music. I tend to scoff at mainstream music tastes, wear an overwhelming amount of sweaters, read Chuck Palahniuk, and live on coffee.

Slow talking, smoke holding, tanned pisshead with roo's in the yard. Yup I think I live up to some stereotypes 😛
