.....that you have been watching a different show to everyone else?

What I mean is you can read someones opinion based on what has happened, and you just sit staring at the screen, the page or even the TV screen and wondering what the heck that person has just been on about.

No disrespect to anyone here, but some people just don't seem to grasp the fundamentals of some of the stories, the relationships and the 'big bads', let alone understand the higher level intricately woven stories.
Its not just people on forums such as this, its also the people who release books on the subject of Buffy or Angel heck even novels.

You can be sat there and just wondering why they have spent so much time writing these things when they make very little sense to the work already done on screen.

Do the people making these 'Unofficial guides' and what not prey on us because we are gullible?
How many of you lot by all the books that sometimes even barely mention Buffy because of that mention?

Gah tell me about the opinions you have read that really annoy you because the intent of the scene was obvious but someone out there has totally not understood it and refuse even still to listen to reason....

People relate stories to experiences in their own lives so as to understand them better. I do the same, but, when you show me that I'm wrong, I accept that and my understanding is broadened. I haven't read anything on Buffy or Angel, novels or whatnot. When someone on this site simply refuses to admit they are wrong, when its so fricken obvious they are, that pisses me off more than I would ever be able to admit on a family friendly board.

Buffy doesn't love Spike..? Morons...

tell me about it! been in a conversation with people like that on another board.

I've read an Angel 'guide' online and they have no idea!
I don't like it when people do not get Angel's character.

Well......everything is open to your own interpretation I guess. What some people get from one thing may be entirely different than what someone else will take away from it.

The important part is to be respectful of other peoples views and opinions 😀

Yeah, I understand that some things are open to personal interpretation but its like the point Dzhugash brings...Buffy loving Spike.
To me its not even a question of did she or didn't she. That has been answered so many times that anyone who still asks is, quite frankly a retard.

There are many issues with the relationship and the effects but the fact we are told be the people who created these characters and this show that something is true and yet some people claim that to be an opinion, well thats absurd.

You want to debate who is the Shanshu Vampire, thats cool, there are decent arguments for both and neither but my problem is when people class fact as opinion because it doesn't fit their personal wank fantasy of whatever the hell they want to believe.

The novels are the same. All a novel(most anyway) is, is a well publicised FanFiction story. Its nothing to do with the show itself, as we are about to see by Joss Whedons 'Canon' comic which will totally piss all over 'Queen of the Slayers'.
Its just a simple way for companies and some writers to cash in on this huge market and read some more about whats going on.
Heck, i'd rather read Allycats Virtual Seasons than buy a £8($16) book that is essentially the same thing except the online fanfic is free.
My Old Friends is far from what Joss would write, but the only difference between that and other books is that(ok proof reading) I haven't had it published.

I think you meant that anyone who still asks is, quite frankly, really dense. Or just REALLY unimformed. 😉

It doesn't bother me that people have different interpretations. That's just a small part of what makes life interesting. There is, however, such a thing as misinterpreting something. For example, that Spike intentionally went to get a soul, most people accept this as fact (because that's what it is, a fact). Some people will argue differently even after being repeatedly shown the error of their ways.

I respect the truth, fools I will not suffer.

i agree mostly on the stuff about the authors of the novels. it's been mentioned that we all hav our own opinions, Buffy loved Spike, Buffy didn't love Spike, Spike planned on getting his soul back, Spike was tricked into getting his soul back, whatever. i don't care. on places like BB, those are good topics for discussion, because there are so many different opinions, i really like hearing what other people have to say...and then completely disregarding it when it doesn't link to what i believe. lol, kidding.
but what bugs me is when some writers disregard things that have happened in the show because it doesn't tie in with their story. or when they mess with the timeline to bend it around their book. i think it's the Gatekeeper Trilogy that is set in late S3 (I think the gang are sorting out their college aps) but yet, there's no Faith and Cordy and Xander are still together...weird.

i dont know about opinions, but i once read a trivia book that had a bit of completely incorrect information, not to mention ridiculous opinions. i think there was even one where names were spelled wrong! they should let fans publish the books; they are more suited than these guys!

Well, there is always going to be people making a profit off something or other somewhere.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and you're entitled to believe their opinion or go against it. It does not give you the right, however, to ridicule them. Whether or not something is considered 'canon' does not affect the intelligence of the person. Yes, there is always room for improvement and actual fiction by the original storyteller, but it's not horrible to be entertained by something that's not authentic.

And really, is there any harm in discussing a certain area of something, even though just about everyone has firm cemented ideas about their answer? I should think not, it's just social interaction. It's only when people begin bashing each other and cruelly debating like children when the conversation no longer is entertaining. So as long as everyone sticks to the rule of accepting all ideas, and debating like an intelligent adult, there really is no problem! 🙂

I love most of the novelizations even if they differ from the canon. "Blood and Fog" was an awesome read.

But anyhoo, I mostly agree with what Bored said

i'm not saying there's anything wrong with the novels...i love reading them. i'm currently in the middle of 'Go Ask Malice' which is one of the best BTVS novels i've read in a while.
it's just that it bugs me sometimes when the authors don't research what they're writing and make silly mistakes.
