Do you ever think you're weird?

I think (almost) every person on earth feels sometimes that they're weird, even for a second. I think all people are weird. Simply because there's no one who is similar in every aspect to another person, and because humans, well... they're a weird creature. But some people feel it more, feel like they're left out, different, unable to fit in, and all that. There are things in our lives that make us think we're weird. But who's to say what's weird and what's "normal"? So I believe the feeling of being weird is just within us, underneath our skin, and maybe we fear it. But can someone actually be weird? And what makes us think that, what events or personal qualities in us make us think we're weird, that we're not like others?

"You're strange", many people often tell me. I don't know why. Apparently I do things that make people say that about me. But isn't every person weird? Isn't that the beauty of being human?

No, I think we Buffy fans are normal and everyone else is weird. 😛

In seriousness, I think weird can be good or bad, I mostly take it to mean you don't fit into a perfect niche (which to me is mostly a good thing unless a person has no social skills or ability to relate to or connect with other people). So for the most part I would say being different is a good thing.

I'm usually able to relate to and get along well with most people, but I feel more comfortable when I meet and hang out with people from places other than Texas for some reason.

When I was a kid I used to wonder if maybe I was an alien cause I just felt so different from everyone else... basic human concepts (like not accidentally putting on your clothes inside out or backwards) still kind of baffle me... But I've talked to lots of people who think they're different from everyone else, so I've come to the conclusion that I'm entirely bizarre and unique...just like everyone else.

🙂

I think I'm weird as I don't seem to fit into any kind of social group, including the one I'm supposedly part of. I don't share the same outlook on things as they do and am generally ambivalent towards most people. I also don't really speak much, whereas my friends never shut up. Supposedly that's weird.

I think it's relative to who you're talking to and the social situation. Like for instance a non-Trekkie would be weird at a Star Trek convention, whereas in another social context they'd be considered normal.

I was told in high school a lot that I'm weird. I lost track of how many times people said I was weird.

I have been called weird, odd and everything in between forever now. I don't mind I march to my own beat and I am okay with it. I do laugh at things that aren't supposed to be funny and have a kind of out there type personality. My laugh used to be called weird all the time. I think that is how it started don't even remember. My friends think I am weird because of my idea of "fun". Some of my friends that enjoy television and same interests think it is normal so it is kind of who you are around I guess.

I think everyone is weird though in their own ways and it is good keeps things exciting.

Oh, I know I'm weird. I've accepted it. I'm one of the only people in my school who loves Buffy and I wear dark glasses because I have to cause my vision sucks. Not to mention I can be really quiet during class and people stare at me. I also just say weird thigns.

Everyone's weird, the world needs to accept it.

In all honesty, no one is "weird." Beauty is in our differences. I don't care what strange things you do. If being me is being "weird" I still wouldn't have it any other way!

To me, being "weird" IS being "normal." Being normal is different to everyone. Your normal is a different normal to mine.

I think when people call me weird, what they mean to say is "individual."

And I happen to think being called individual is one of the highest compliments I can receive. 😀

I do feel weird all the time, I'm totally driven by my passions and my heart and this seems to be bothering a lot of people that I know. I've gotten the weird comments a lot lately because of it.

Oh, well. 🙂

Yeah I feel weird, but I dunno if weird really exists. 'Cause I'm a believer that normal doesn't exist, because it changes from person to person. So if that's right then I don't think weird can exist either 😛

But yeah I have considered myself weird. I don't really feel like I connected with a lot of my schoolmates and there's only a select few people that seem to be 'on my wavelength'. A lot of the people I'm at uni with and have been to school with all seem similar in their interests and love going out and partying and stuff, and I've always felt bizarre because I don't like going out to clubs and stuff and I watch Buffy while they watch Coronation Street and Big Brother. They all wear pretty clothes and I'm in my jeans and Firefly T-Shirt.

But as long as I have my friends who are on my wavelength, it shouldn't matter whether I'm like them or not, I guess! 🙂

Weird and normal are only weird and normal as far as one person sees it. It changes from person to person. So we're just people, in the end.

There's this little saying I used to say in middle school when people called me weird. I think it's very wise.

"To be weird, there has to be a normal that you're not. But who's to say what's normal? I mean what is normal in this crazy world of extreme difference?"

After I'd say that, people would stare at me blankly... or if you were my English teacher and her idiot student teacher from 8th grade, you'd tell me how there were certain social norms and I had to follow them because if I didn't, I was nothing. And yes, they did literally say that. Those bitches. Sorry... I'm still really grumpy about that.

But yes, I've accepted I'm weird. I'm strange... and I like it. I say that all the time. When doing introductions in class when you have to give a "tell us something interesting about yourself," I always say "I'm strange, and I like it. I'm not what you would consider "normal," I like to talk and participate in class... but I don't like to do homework. I get overly excited about things. I'll randomly talk to you about what's ever on my mind. Don't be alarmed... that's just who I am. And I like it." 🙂
