I guess this is mostly for the females, although I suppose men must feel like this from time to time as well (they tend not to say when they do though)...

Do you ever sometimes just wake up and feel disgusting?? As in unbelievably unattractive, stupid, slow, and every single other thing you can think off, and no matter what other people say, it doesn't make you feel any better??

My friend put some photos on facebook of her night out last night... she and her friends went out in bras and knickers with fishnet stockings and suspenders, or in cute little sexy nighties, or pj tops with knickers etc, for a themed clubbing night... and I looked at them today (im not having the best day anyway, im grumpy and somewhat hungover) and it just made me feel so horrible in every single way.
I mean, okay yeah, very over the top, but they all looked so slim and beautiful and tall and sexy and every single other great thing... and I just know if I went out like that, I'd look appauling.

So i was wondering, do other people get days where they just feel really down about themselves, and what do you do to cheer yourself up?? Suggestions are extremely welcome!

Well, I CAN say if I had friends who went clubbing in their bras, I'd have HORRIBLE self esteem....Self Esteem is for everybody, Self Esteem is for everyone.....
You know I got like that last summer when I couldn't fit into any of my pre-pregnancy summer clothes because I hadn't lost all the weight I gained while I was pregnant. What made it worse was when I went shopping and everything I liked was too small. But all I had to do was look at my son to be cheered up. After all he was the reason I gained the weight in the first place. But I also set goals for myself. Now I go workout for a couple hours a day and eat healthier. I only lack 25lbs from being back down to my pre-pregnancy weight and already back into alot of my old clothes.

amen! Me and you both though I will NEVER be a size 5 again I am sure and I have to get some surgergy done before I will get my figure back...I totally relate though. And they ARE worth it arent they :)
seeems to me that you struggle with an extremely low self image of yourself. Trust me darling you can't be all that gruesome! Women (I being one) are often obsessed with self appearance and beauty and while I do at times get down on myself (I have excess skin from two c-setcions that needs to be removed and I view it as hideous) I have to only look at the thing that I feel needs changing. I mean its the whole 'I'd be pretty if I didn't have this" attitude that I have at times but then I realize so I have this...yeah its ugly (Yes it can/can't be changed) but I also have this ______________ <--------- insert awesome feature here. And this ____________ and then I find myself smiling. There has got to be some things you like about yourself and you know you can always couple physical and mental atributes and give yourself an ego boost. Its not concieteed to do that dear....its healthy 🙂

😀 Thanks vicariously 🙂 Thats made me feel better already, thinking about that...

*goes to think about the good things about herself*

I'm just a man, so what would I know...but I'm willing to bet that when your friends see photos of you they're jealous of your lustrous hair or pretty eyes or lovely legs or cute nose or whatever...trust me they are...I'm old and know stuff about stuff 🙂

Hello Cutie
Well you have one of my alltime favourite Buffy quotes as your sig, so you must know what you're talking about! [I'm not sure how it applies, but it does!]

LOL - You know stuff about stuff, huh?
Yes, every single day for like years now, this house is so damned old and either hot or cold or grimy, that and endless insomnia and my parents driving me crazy means I'm as close to feeling zombie like as a Human can.

Hello Cutie
Can I give you a hug? I will anyway *hug*... I was very much like that before I left for uni, and I'm dreading moving home in June for the same reason...
I just wanted to post after having seen a picture of Hello Cutie she is soooooooooo not horrible looking as her post might have led people to believe she is actually really pretty! 🙂

I refer all the BB ladies to my post above and reserve the right to feel smug about being a wise ol' Pointy 😉

Yes Vicariously kids are totally worth it. I love my son very much. I too know I will never be a size 5 again. I just want to get back down to a size 9 (what I was before I had Ryan) and in a sense I've done that. I can fit to a size 9 comfortably now as long as the jeans, shorts, skirts are low waisted. What made me feel fat and ugly was when your used to being a size 9 or smaller and your a size 16 and you look like you are 6 months pregnant. People were asking me if I was pregnant again which was getting annoying. I was 145lbs before I got pregnant and I was 154lbs when I was 17 weeks preggo and 192lbs when I delivered my son. I gained an extra 13lbs on top the 25lbs you gain while pregnant because I wasn't working from time I was 7 months preggo that and I over ate because everyone around me kept telling me I wasn't eating enough. Then after I had my son I gained the 25lbs I lost giving birth back while being a stay at home mom as I wasn't as active as I was when I was working with the horses before I got pregnant.

Hello Cutie I don't know that you want to call it dedicated as determined. I have to lose the weight I was becoming so over weight that it was causing my cholestrol(sp) to be high that my doctor told me that if I didn't get it under control I had better have a will made out and arrangements made for my son because I was at high risk for a heart attack and I probably wouldn't live long enough to see my son grow up. I can't have that happen. I want to be there for my son. I want to watch him grow up. So I am determined to lose it not just feel better about myself but to improve my health.

All in all I am proud to say I feel better about myself. Right now I am 167lbs. and I feel great.

P.S. Hello Cutie you shouldn't feel bad about yourself you are very pretty. If I get around to it today I'll post a pic from last summer and a recent pic as well so you can see the difference. Oh and I just realized I only have 22lbs left to lose.

Hello Cutie
I feel bad like I sound like I'm whining or something to get attention.. but anyway, wow, I understand where you're coming from- and well done you, its amazing- i know people like that who didnt do a thing, and now their kids are motherless...
Hello Cutie, that feeling happens to us ALL at some point or another. I sometimes look at photos of me and my friends and think 'I'm not as pretty as them'. And then I start tearing myself apart saying 'God, my eyebrows and oh my nose, and why is my hair falling in that stupid way?'.
It doesn't mean a god damn thing though. If I ever say these thoughts out loud people usually tell me I'm talking crazy talk (Unless it's one of those really bad mid-blink photos haha), but seriously, you're just doing what we all do at one point or another. Tear ourselves apart.

By tomorrow you'll be over this mood- make sure to put on some brightly colored clothes as that's always a cheer-up 😉- and be back to being happy about yourself again.

My Mom always called them 'Ugly Days' since she was a teenager. She said there are just days when you look, well think you look, a lot less pretty than normal. You just feel ugly no matter what you do, no matter what angle you look in the mirror or what make-up you put on, but the next day is always fine. And apparently we have to have an Ugly Day at least once every four months.....at least according to my Mom. Haha.

Everyone has those days. Guys seem to have them less often than women (generally), but everyone has them.

The key is that as long as they're isolated days (or islands of 2-3 days), they're just part of the human condition. If they start to run together for more than that, go out of your way to ward off any potential oncoming depression.

Hello Kitty don't feel bad. Even when I was a size 5 I had days where I hated the way I looked. When your not used to being a bigger size like I was it wasn't the fact that I was bigger as it was I had certain styles of clothes I wore a lot that didn't fit with out going to sizes beyond a 16 which when your shopping with someone can be quite embarrassing. But since putting on weight and now losing it I find I have opened up more to trying different clothes then sticking with certain brands as I was before. But it was also hard to live with my boyfriend's 17 year old daughter who constantly made a big deal out of herself being a size 5 "I love it I'm the skinnest person here.", etc. She was constantly pointing out how skinny she was and obssessing about how she looked fat even though she's size 5 and I was like "Hey sweetie I'll trade you places.". But no seriously I've gotten comfortable with how I look and my friends and family don't treat me any different which helps. Even if I never get back down to 145lbs I got what I want I can fit into a size 9 even if I never wear the same style or brand that I wore before. The main thing is I feel good about myself.

StuckinTraffic agrees: LOL - You know stuff about stuff, huh?
Stuff is very important and knowing stuff about it...even more so... 🙂

Okay, first of all: you are beautiful! No lie. When I saw your pictures in Raiden, I thought, "Wow... she just beat the socks off me in the prettiest Raiden pictures contest... not that we're having a contest. lol." I say that to back up what Mr. Pointy said. When people look at pics of you, we don't see the flaws that you see. Instead, we see the positive features that we wish we had!

But I know what you mean. We all have days like that. I have them often. I've really "let myself go" these past couple of years. I used to wear makeup and primp every day and go to a hairdresser once a month and stuff. I even used to dress provocatively. But that's expensive and time consuming, so I sort of let it fall by the wayside. Sometimes, I look at old pics of myself and then in the mirror and think "Ugh... I look so OLD. Way older than 25." I think we all have days when we feel like that.

Other times, though, I look up from brushing my teeth or something and catch a surprise glimpse of myself in the mirror and I think, "Wow! Look at me. I'm really pretty... without makeup or anything." Other people notice it, too. Even though I'm married, men will still hit on me pretty much whenever I go out without my husband. Seriously. The only thing that has changed is that people now say I'm a "natural beauty" because they notice I'm not wearing makeup. lol. And I am not as pretty as you are, so the logical conclusion here is that if random passers by stop ME on the street to say I'm pretty, then you've got nothing to worry about. 🙂

I think it's natural to have those days, but don't let it get you down too much. You really have nothing to worry about.

Hello Cutie
*hugs* thankyou so much :) I get days like that alot, despite the amount of effort I put into how I look and stuff... I dated a Warren-alike for a year who told me I was fat and ugly, and its pretty much destroyed me, so i'm down on myself alot.
I get days where I look at my frizzy fringe (after it goes that way dispite straightening it) and my eyes in the morning and after a shift at work, then I think I look like a muppet, big eyes and wild hair etc, BUT just because I think that at times doesn't mean it's true, and I like to think I'm attractive in some way ok not pretty because no other Begger may tell you that!

Hello Cutie, I'm sure you're really pretty.🙂 don't worry, everyone has these days and you can always talk to us! we'll cheer you up!😀 * big grin*

H
Hello Cutie
*grins* Thankyou!!! :P
I have days like this. 🙂 In the old days to 'cheer myself up' I'd eat chocolate or (seriously lol) put on Buffy or a movie that I like to cheer me up.
Now, I sometimes do the same sort of thing lol but I also remember nice things people have said to me, and that people aren't really shallow enough to judge me on my appearance (people that matter anyway lol) but I totally relate on the 'your friends' thing. I used to be the girl that the guys wouldn't hit on in my group... I look back and realise it was probably because they'd go out of there way to 'look hot' and flirt with them, I didn't.
Now I realise that I was/am the nice one in the group, and most times I've gotten more attention and respect from guys because I'm not worried about how I look, and I'm not trying to impress them.
It's weird though, I like girls also so... They're not so much always looking at looks lol but I can still get worried on how a girl thinks I look. 😉

Cheer up! You are NOT ugly!

I can remember the mornings when my wife woke up feeling really down about how she looked, you know the one, 'does this skirt make my bum look big'. I would pretend to be asleep.
Hmm, did she know I was pretending ?, maybe that's why I'm divorced now !!
