She's incredibly funny! She made me laugh more than any character in Buffy although there are others who are very funny too. But Anya is just hilarious.

"Money. Did you hurt the money? Money good? She endangered the money!" :lmao:

wow this thread seems to get revived a lot huh? lol. Well, i never found her funny. There has been possibly 2 or 3 moments i smiled at somethin g she said, otherwise i found her quite annoying. i didn't see the humor in it. But it has to do with everyone's different tastes in humor.
I totally respect your opinion, and it would be boring if everybody always had the same opinion so it´s nice to see someone who disagrees. And I agree that see can be annoying, really annoying at times. But as a whole I love her comments. What I´m curious about is that if you remember the times that you thought she was funny. Could be interesting.

well one off the top of my head is in Pangs, when Angel snaps one of the Indian guys' neck and she goes "what's he like when he's evil?" now that was funny. I like her lines like that, but not when shes just butting into conversations.

I think Anya's hilarious at first, but as the show goes on, she gets less funny. It's kind of like Xander...he was my favorite in Season 1, but by Season 7 I didn't like him that much (though he's great in Season 8).
But then again, the only characters that got better rather than worse over time were Willow (I loved Fuzzy Willow and all, but they couldn't do much with her if she was just a smart nerd for the entire show!) and Dawn (she whined a lot less over time).

I was always laughing at Anya. She was the funniest charecter on Buffy or Angel. Every show needs an Anya.

yes yes and thrice yes... i love everyone in the show (mostly 😉) lol but Anya is not only funny but got this sadness to her, and new puppyness sometimes, weird but she's a fantastic character full of the same.

To add more to my last post. I think Buffy's quote is true. I can't remember what episode it was, but Buffy's making a speech, and Anya blurts out something sarcastic, and:
Buffy: "Why are you here?"
Anya: "For much needed sarcasm."
Xander: "That's what I'm here for"

And the way Buffy said "Why are you here?" just hit home for me. It was like every fans question, and Buffy just asked it. I was like, "Kick that bitch out!"

But don't get me wrong, she was cool in every other season.

Great post!! I was very disappointed with both her and Willow in s7. :(
I find her hilarious but what amazes me is I also find her one of the most sympathetic characters. Emma Caulfield and Charisma Carpenter constantly amaze me how they can take such a self-centered characters and make the viewer feel for them and see their deeper more sensitive sides (credit goes to the writers too of course).

Anya also helped me to start liking Xander again. I was a little tired of his character before she showed up (cheating on Cordelia, judging Buffy over Angel despite his own mistakes, not telling Buffy that Willow was trying to restore Angel's soul, failing to notice Willow until she was unattainable). When Anya started dating him I started liking his character again and I liked how she believed in him when no one else did. I also liked how she never insults him or puts him down when arguing with him (like Cordelia did).

Anya was brilliant, and really uplifting in the last few seasons, even in times of crisis she was funny.
I love her to pieces!

I like Anya, but the money and bunny jokes got old by the later seasons. I like her tactlessness and straight forward insults, funny on TV, not so funny in real life. I don't think I'd be Anya's friend if she's real, lol

Oh, I absolutely love Anya! Definitely one of my favorite characters! I can relate to her and her emotions are very real, while she is frickin' hilarious! I love her in "Doppelgangland" when she shouts "I'm 1120 years old! GIVE ME A FRICKIN' BEER!" :lmao: : laugh :

She was the best! Always the one who speaks what is on her mind no matter how absurd or rude it is lol And yeah like others said, she didnt need to try and be funny 😛
Some of the stuff she did when adjusting to becoming human was just so cute and innocent you had to laugh. Like when serving a customer, after they had paid their money, Anya would say: "Please leave" lol!
Adorable 😛
