Do you find yourself liking episodes more/less because of the characters?

I can only think of two episodes, Family and Selfless, that I probably enjoy more because they focus on my favorite characters, Tara and Anya. But I would say, like a lot of others, it depends on the story more than me liking a certain character.

There are also some episodes I don't really like that have nothing to do with the characters they're focused on. I find Fool for Love and Amends kind of boring for instance (that is, until the last scene in each episode for some bizarre reason), and I really like both Spike and Angel, so yeah...The story is definitely more important to me.

Jenny isn't in too many episodes, so I usually enjoy all the episodes with her in it, even if the plot stinks. 😀

Yeah, I think most people do, they're loyal to the actors they like, and this translates into the wider world of other shows. If SMG wasn't in "Ringer", I doubt so many people would watch it.

You're so right about that.
I don't love The Zeppo solely because it's centered around Xander. I love them all (the characters), truly. I mean I love Giles...he sort of reminds me of my grandpa haha, but A New Man wasn't one of my favorite episodes or anything. Back when I was obsessed with Willow, I really loved the Dark Willow arc when I first saw it. I still do, but when I first saw that ohhh man it was great. However, none of those episodes are my favorites. I base my favorites episodes on the way that they're shot, written, etc.
