Do you have an accent?

i supouse i have a prt one..not shure how..bout i don't pck the areas accents from prt very much, since i don't get it when i go there.. northen accent is hard, coz somethimes i don't undesrtand a word of it.. my folks are from Alentejo (south) so they talk a lil slower and a bit close to spanish sometimes, but i guess that my accent is the "lisbon" type..the less notice one i guess,, i don't even know if Lisbon has an accent.. gosh i think its the only place in the country that doen't have one.. *wonders why*
 
oooh so its like that is it!!! I knew you would say that. Well let me just say that I DO NOT sound like groundskeeper wullie, never in my life have I said 'och aye the noo' Although I have used 'hud yer wheist' for shut up when mum and I are bantering.

I thought someone of your nature Buffy would be able to understand me perfectly, I was very impressed the way you got Trainspotting....especially Begbie! I'm going off in the huff now to find my voodoo doll.

I have a certain phrase I want to say right now, something about a horse and rode in on.. you know the one!

LOL my "uncle" petter is from bergen.. he whold prob agree with you 😉

in norwegian i am starting to sound very ordinary.. cause i live in oslo... but as soon as i've talked to my father or my sister, or been in my home town, i start to talk a bit wide... it's wide in the way that the people from the south(of the us) talks.. sorta(just trying to give you a mental pic 🙂) :nibble6: i like my accent too! we have so many cool words...

in english i speek american... if i haven't spoken(sp?) english in a while, i have that scandinavian tvist on it... (i speak english, with a norwegian tone LOL), but if i have spoken(sp?) a while, i sound okay...

BTW: fun thread! fun to read!

I think Norway has alot of beautiful accents...it's weird that in a small country like this, people have so many different ways to talk.
 
Faith sounds like Groundskeeper Willie - hehehehe...snigger...

I always thought Willie's accent was meant to be a mickey take of American actors who couldn't do very convincing accents (think DB's Oirish one or James Doohan's Scottie). Are we suggesting that Faith's accent doesn't sound Scottish enough here? 😉

Ok lets get this straight, I do not sound like that, when I speak there is no doubt that I am Scottish as I do have a strong accent but in different dialects. Wullie is a stereotypical accent as we dont wear tartan all the time either.

Och Aye The Noo is sort of all right just now or alright

i agree with that.. and yeah, it is sorta wierd that a country this samll has so many accsents LOL a norwegian accent i kinda like is the one the guys from tugtvann has... there are also a couple of accents i don't like that much, but i think a reason for that might be that i assosiate it with people i might dislike...(you know that one of the women from nr.19.. i think her name was karin(?) i don't really like that accent... ) but i do like yours... :stpatty:

lol! There are some horrible accents here aswell, yeah. Some people I can't even understand...lol

I have an Irish accent. Not like the stupid made up accents like in movies. But a real one sorta like Pierce Brosnan only I'm at the top of the country and he's at the bottom.
I come from a place called Letterkenny with a population of c. 15,000 which is a medium sized town here. And we sorta have our own accent it's unique from every part of the country and only tennagers and people under 25 have it. It's fun as sometimes people don't know what i'm saying through all the slang :dork:
 
I have a posh british accent. My friends say that I sound like a Shakespere play [except I don't use the old english slang like "Where Ought Thou"]

Y'know what I hate? When people say they don' have an accent! EVERYONE has an accent!

Really? well ok i'm from california and I don't notice an accent but I guess I have a souther california accent? I have no idea. I can do an english accent, irish accent, and austrailian accent but thats it. But yeah thats my accent 😀

Everyone has an accent for people from different places. people from California have an accent if their in england for example...So everyone has an accent!

when i'm in england/scotland i have their accents.
and when i go to canada i have that accent
although when i go to japan it doesn't happen there for some reason 🙂
 
I hate my accent.. It isn't even an accent, I'm just not good at speaking English I guess.. I' Swedish.. and I have a Swedish accent too, which some of my friends think is very funny. (They are from other parts of this country..) Though I can't hear my accent of course..
