Do you get people to watch Buffy and Angel? I got four of my friends, who thought it looked "weird" to obsess over it. 😛

Anyone else?

Yep! I've gotten two of my friends to watch it...one of them is completely obsessed (she's also seen all of Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse) and another loves it, but he's only on season 6.

I really wanna get a few of my other friends into it too, since it's TOTALLY their kind of thing, but the name is putting them off. I've been having the same problem with hooking people to Battlestar Galactica. Why does every great show have to have such a stupid-sounding name?!

I try to convince people to watch certain shows all the time. Buffy obviously being one of them. For most part though I'm not very succesful since people seem reluctant for one reason or another. But there's been a few times at least. But I'm not sure I would call it getting them hooked just because they watched through all of it. No one has come even close to my "obsession" for the show.

I have tried and failed...Only my brother has jumped on the Buffy wagon a little. But his world centers around OMWF instead of the show in general

I have hooked some people (sw) One of which is on this very forum now 😉

To be honest though, this is nothing Buffy specific, I also tried to get people hooked on Friends, How I Met Your Mother and the X-Files...in each case I found at least 1 person I could turn into a total nutcase when it came to the show (sw)

The secret is, you have to pick your people wisely. If I tried hooking say my Dad, I know exactly it's a lost cause, he hates any kind of show with supernatural element. On the other side, somebody who might watch 'supernatural' would probably be way more susceptible to Buffy. So you really gotta bring people together with the right show. And upon succeeding, they'll also trust your advice on future shows (sw)

I have successfully hooked 3 other people, and am in the process of another (sw)

One is Bob, who is on this forum obviously, so you all have me to thank for Bobba Fett! Another is my brother, although he prefers Angel, weird child....and the other is my best friend cara. They all watch Dollhouse too! And Bob's working through Angel. Oh and Cara has seen HIMYM Too, thanks to me (sw)

I love the fact that i've managed to hook my friends onto it! Although, not so much my brother, we generally have these fights about which is better, Buffy or Angel. And it's very annoying because he will never say a bad word about anything angel, character, episode, scene NOTHING! Highly irritating! 😛

I have tried again and again without avail. 🙁
The stigma attached to buffy in unbelieveable..

Yeah, I did. A friend of mine and I'm always talking about Angel with an other friend. He said he's going to search for s1 😀

I'm pretty fed up of telling people to watch good shows, sometimes sure it works but I get the blame when they dont like it... and thats not cool (sw)

My latest, well my sisters latest was to trade me an episode of Hannah Montana with an episode of Kath and Kim.

So after months and months I sat and watched a Dolly Parton episode of Hannah Montana, and I thought she would be satisfied with that but when it finished she's all at me like "right now you're gonna watch this one with the Jonas Brothers in it" -- yeah i was OUTTATHERE!

But she held up her side and watched the first episode of Kath and Kim, and my mominator came in and watched it too. She told my sister that its good and funny from what she had saw.

Amy didnt like it and said Kath and Kim was "boring" (Amy left after the first episode but my mother watched the second one as well) and now my mother wants to watch the rest.... so good and bad.

(Difference is when I was 10 years old I loved Friends, 3rd Rock from the Sun and X-Files.... not like my sister who loves Tracey Beaker, Ugly Betty and Hannah Montana)

(Another thing I get off the mominator is she see's an advert for a show I already watch or have finished the season and when I tell her I've seen it and it was good... "why didnt you tell me?" well I do, I do tell her theres a good show and she should watch it but after a few weeks I give up and then that happens... hence the whole not doing it anymore)

And as for BTVS - for years I told Amy to watch it, then gave up... my mominator started to go and go at her to watch it and she caved -- for her *eye roll*

as for Angel -- Amy gave up a few episodes into Season 2 and wont go any further... 🙁

Yeah, only one of the friends I got hooked on Buffy and Angel watch Dollhouse...none of them even know about Firefly. =/

I don't really try. The only way I could see myself trying to actively get people to watch a show is if it's in danger of being cancelled and Buffy and Angel were both about to go off the air when I started watching and it's way past that time now.

I got an ex hooked on to it...

i can't get my current boyfriend to care in the least. He hates SMG, he hates Seth Green, he hates David Boreanaz, he hates the idea that vampires just naturally know how to fight, he hates modern style vampires... the hate doesn't end haha.

but he LOVES X-files... and so i really think if he just suspended his doubts and watched a couple of episodes, he might like it more than he'd want to admit.

But idoubt ill get the opportunity.

I'm in the same boat. One of my friends had Buffy ruined for her for a little while, because the only time she had seen an episode was when a former friend was making out with her boyfriend and my friend felt awkward. Still, she was willing to give it another go and copied my Buffy files to her computer and now she likes it. Shes not as into it as I am, but she likes it well enough.

Yes! Last summer I got my best friend to watch all of Buffy and Angel. Now he's completely obsessed! And then my roommate got obsessed a few months ago and after watching just one season, she bought it all and got crazy obsessed. Both of them also love Dollhouse and are watching Firefly. And since then, many others have seen the error of their ways and have started watching BTVS or want to watch it. So, I definitely convert the masses.

Yep, I got my best mate to watch Buffy, she loves it but doesn't watch it over and over, but sometimes when shes round we do an episode, in fact, her and her boyfriend got me Serenity for a present and that got me hooked on that, and then me and her boyfriend nagged her into watching the Angel series which she finally watched and enjoyed. I watch them all over and over. Her boyfriend does that with Star Trek!

I got my friend Sarah (SpikeMeUp on here) obsessed, and my friend Tara obsessed, and I've even got my mum loving it. XD

Oh totally! I got two of my friends into it. They watched the first episode and couldnt stop there. A month later and they were done with the entire series. Of course they also thought it wasnt that great of a show at first (before they viewed it)

All my friends who were originally Buffy-enclined, I managed to make more Buffy-dependant by letting them borrow some seasons...

I hooked one friend on Buffy, she eventually bought the whole DVD collection and is starting to buy the Angel DVDs...

AND my friend who haaaaaated Buffy : I made her promise to watch one episode for my birthday, so last February we watched "Checkpoint" together, and she kinda liked it even though she didn't really want to admit it and didn't want to see what was next. But a few days ago, she texted me that she was just watching a S7 episode on TV and was kinda intrigued and tempted, so I'm loaning her the first two seasons tonight ! I'm so excited ! (I need a life?)

A fun game to play while introducing people to Buffy is "dead or evil." Whenever a new character is introduced--doesn't matter how big or small the character is--ask your friend, "Dead or evil?" and let them guess the fate of the new character. Because, let's be honest, that's the fate of 95% of new characters, at some point in the series.

The friend that I'm in the process of converting now is really off-base about most of them, and it's really funny. She guessed that Principal Flutie would be evil, and that Jenny Calendar would be evil and killed within the first episode.
